  1. Got the new chandelier hung today and swagged over to where it really should be. Rain - again - for the 4th day in a row does not make the joints happy.
  2. Not been on recently. Last couple of weeks have been extremely stressful. SP and I are trying to arrange our "post-COVID" public exchange of vows and having problems finding vendors - let alone people that fit in our limited budget. Add on to that idiocy w. trying to get a new light installed in the house and crazyness at work and it's not been a good week.
  3. BILL HIM -- nothing may come of it, but perhaps it will sink into his head this time. But I'm a vindictive queen so...
  4. Reminded of lyrics from No Choir by Florence and the Machine: But the loneliness never left me I always took it with me But I can put it down in the pleasure of your company. ... And if tomorrow it's all over At least we had it for a moment Oh darling, things seem so unstable But for a moment we were able to be still
  5. Made an appointment w. a osteopathic specialist in the City to make the hubby happy. I'm not particularly excited about being told for the 9th time I'm too broken to fix.
  6. Not much. Apple Pie spice has cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and cardamom Pumpkin has cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and cloves.
  7. I've used a crock-pot / slow cooker a lot, but have never used an IP. Are they as good as they are hyped up to be?
  8. Somehow missed this when it was posted a couple of days ago - looking forward to reading it.
  9. As we're ranting.... Got an email at the literal end of day yesterday about an error in her pay -- for the ENTIRE SPRING SEMESTER. Who doesn't balance their checkbook for 5 months???????? She had one class (of 3) cancelled, and one stayed active but w. 0 enrollment. I never got any of that information so she's been paid for all three sections from Jan. through May. My phone call w. Payroll is going to be fun this morning. Add to that the person who can't read/understand/remember conversations we had last summer about what his pay schedule is and that he is NOT and NEVER WAS on pay deferral the first semester he was hired. That one will be fun too.
  10. not awake yet this morning and read that as GREEN chicken thighs; Greek sounds much more appetizing.
  11. Yet more days of rain. Took this afternoon off to let the joints rest. At least next week we go back to the normal May weather pattern -- high risk, low probability.
  12. We have chances of rain for the next 7 to 10 days. The joy of spring.
  13. SP keeps insisting that he can cook...I keep suggesting he prove it. He has selected some recopies to make for me, we'll see how it goes.
  14. Wrong place I'm sure but um... why the obnoxious new emoticons? To someone who's vision isn't great, they're not at all obvious what they're supposed to be and their meanings are much less clear.

    Chapter 5

Late start to reading this story, but enjoying it greatly so far.
  16. Those random compliments are the best.
  17. Was a long and frustrating, aggravating day.
  18. Very nice of the landlady to give you some options and not just install something.
  19. Hope you enjoy your day. Going to be nice and sunny today - should be a nice one.
  20. Thankfully, he does. They'll probably put him on something other than what he normally does for a bit, that requires less physical work.
  21. I'm sorry to hear that. My dad passed just a couple of weeks ago, at just a few month's short of 100. If there is a sibling that you trust to do something better than you could, delegate the task. My brother is the executor but gave me the insurance stuff while he took care of banking issues.
  22. SP needed a medical release to return to work at his 2nd job, he had two managers say he should get a release for "restricted work" to limit his hours. Surgeon wouldn't do it - 6wks is their standard and he was out for 7.
  23. Don't think I've really ever had lamb / mutton. I'd need to eat it first by someone who knew how to properly cook it.
  24. I got the insurance filed (or at least forms requested) for dad's policies and remotely met my brother at the bank to sort that portion of things. Long, stressful, and tiring, but it's one more thing started and one more thing done.
  25. Tomorrow will be a long day -- dealing w. insurance companies on 50+ year old life insurance policies in the morning, then dealing w. the bank (the main bank - still one other to deal with) in the afternoon.
