Speaking of being pedantic: a planet/moon/whatever that orbits clockwise instead of counter-clockwise is in a retrograde orbit. Not a Trojan. A Trojan is an object in the L4 or L5 Lagrange point of their parent planet, approximately 60° ahead of or behind the main body; such as the Trojan asteroids of Jupiter.

They basically are the same thing -- only difference is in how they start to form (and how big they can get). Once up and going, both are terrifying and dangerous. Glad there were no serous injuries or deaths.

Doc ordered me a steroid to help clear the lungs out. It will raise my blood pressure but I know this and can keep an eye on it and take something if it gets too high. Still have just enough of an increase in temp to make me tired and not feel well, but not a a fever. Coughing has gone down; breathing has gotten easier. All in all this has been extremely mild compared to some people who I know who have had it. SP hasn't got it yet, thankfully.

Tested + this morning for Covid. Been congested all week but this is the first morning it's seemed like anything other than a bad case of my normal year-round allergies. Sinus headache, but nearly no temperature. Of course, I work on a campus and have had probably 50 people in my office in the last two weeks talking about payroll issues. And the assistant to the Graduate Director just re-tested + this morning after having just had it less than a month ago. 😟

Obviously, your memory isn't the only one that could be called into question about this. 🤔

Did I miss a line on Aja meeting Linc? I'm sure that would have been quite interesting.
-
Yep -- it's the only major case in that set of laws he didn't mention. It's foundation is the same implied "right to privacy" the other cases all share that he wants to 'revisit'.

week / month / summer have been bonkers insane and at a point when things normally start to settle down they're still crazy... making me crazy, and making my blood pressure go up

You're never mentally prepared, even when you think you are. Will keep you in my thoughts.

There is "Blood is thicker than water" which now has almost the opposite of it's original meaning. The full original saying was, "The blood of battle is thicker than the water of the womb." So the current saying suggests that family ties trump other ties, while the original means that shared trauma binds people tighter than birth-ties.

Glad you're feeling better. My brother got it two weeks ago, then gave it to my SIL. Both are doing ok, and have just had mild symptoms.
-
Hopeful thoughts to all of you. A nice lunch out and chill to relax sounds like a great idea to relieve some stress.

Temp at 6:30 this morning was already 89F. Still shouldn't get quite as hot as yesterday though. We got some rain last night, but not enough.
-
We broke the record high today - hit 110F We've been at/over 100 for quite a few days now and have several more to go. We'll get into out "top 10" for number of consecutive days there.

Long long week. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Kirby dropping the shields he has up and exposing himself (ahem.. figuratively, of course) as an elf is a probably a good guess.

"They're just immortal beings made of pure energy and able to cross time and some realities, Charlie. They're not omnipotent." That line was great.

This has been a long long day, for several reasons. Good news for the AC inspection -- it's still running along like it should be, even though it's an older model. It's a good brand though, so it will probably keep running in top shape (until it all of a sudden doesn't). Power in my building on campus is going to be closed for the next week and the power off, so we will all be working from home. They need (desperately) to upgrade the electrical service in the building. Two of us went around today and made sure all the faculty computers were off and unplugged, and I threw out EVERYTHING that was in the Staff & Faculty Lounge refrigerator. Looked like the vast majority was from before the shutdown, and just forgotten about.

I'm sitting at home this afternoon, waiting on an Air Conditioner guy to do a seasonal check to make sure it won't break down on us (which I scheduled a month ago; and it's been 90F+ for two weeks). A lovely SIX HOUR window for him to show up in.

Great second chapter. Love that he's getting settled in, and is making, if not a romantic interest, at least a good friend.

We have Monday off for Juneteenth for the first time this year. Not sure what we'll be doing. Greenwood, which is not too far away, is having several large celebrations this 3-day weekend but I don't' think SP will want to go to any of them. We might go visit my last surviving aunt.

Glad things are improving @rickproehl- push, but don't rush things. Listen to your body. It's the end of a crazy long and stressful week for me. Just glad to have survived the afternoon.

Been a long day and a long week. Too many deadlines before fiscal year end and still way to much to do before them. Had more storms this morning, and a chance for more tomorrow night -- then just hot and humid.
-
We have a chance of rain and storms all weekend. Had an early morning thunderstorm start to move in just as SP was about to head to work.

We ended up w. just over 6" of rain total. No major flooding here in town. Joints are happy it's over.
