  1. With the holiday season beginning to heat up, let's stretch our writer muscles and creativity with some prompts!! Here are my first offerings into our wonderful winter writing. PT 3# Holiday Quote - "Let's do something that puts us on Santa's naughty list." PT 4# You've played Santa at the mall for the past twenty-five years, but after dealing with bratty kids, entitled parents, and a total lack of manners, you've decided you're done after this season. It's taken all your willpower not to have your Grinchy heart snap, but you've gotten through it. It's Christmas eve and the last kid in the last line you'll ever see as Santa completely changes your mind and renews your Christmas spirit. What happened? Keep in mind, prompts are never really retired. If you don't think of something this week, you may be inspired next week and let's see those entries! Your Prompt Team.

    Chapter 1

Thanks so much! This story is complete, but that doesn't mean the tale has been told. Perhaps Brett will get more information in another story that will suggest what really happened. We'll have to see.

    Chapter 1

Very good questions. Perhaps the army dude was involved in a different accident and Brett thought it was the same vehicle, but wasn't. However, we have the confession of the older man, but not video of him behind the wheel, just a recording of the plate. Brett thought the matter was settled, like you did. But, now he has some doubts. There are little cracks where the light is spilling through the story. Thanks so much!

    Chapter 1

Thanks Valkyrie! I'm so glad the creepiness came through. It was definitely part of what I was trying to create and convey. It really is chilling to think you may have been a witness to a murder, but were you? Probably?

    Chapter 1

Thank you so much! I love mysteries and vignettes like this. You made my day with the lovely compliment!

    Chapter 1

Thanks for your help Addy! The opening scene actually happened to me. I approached the deli counter and a guy with sandy blond hair was trying to get another guy's attention. The scene stuck in my head and the man with the butterscotch hair grew from that. I love the questions because there are so many possibilities. Again, thanks so much!

    Chapter 1

Thank you so much AC!!! That's high praise. Well, we don't really know what goes on around us. There are certainly things that happen that can lead to danger. Army-cut may not recall exactly who was present except for the deli counter girl, and his wife. And the daughter.

    Chapter 1

Very true. We don't really know anything about him ... yet. However, Brett will probably make another appearance eventually, and who knows what he'll get up to!!! Thanks so much!

    Chapter 1

Yeah, well, the story is done, but perhaps the mystery isn't yet complete. We'll have to see what comes next!!! Thanks for the comments!

    Chapter 1

    Thanks!
  11. The Man with Butterscotch Hair “How’s it going, Monte?” the man with wavy brown hair asked. He was leaning against a grocery cart, grinning, a tiny bit of his lip curling. The smirk, for that was the more accurate description, had a knowing quality that suggested familiarity. The man facing the deli counter, short black hair, almost cropped, seemed to ignore the query. “Monte?” the guy said again, waving his hand and straightening up. “How’s it hanging, dude?”
  12. What if you were a witness to a crime, but didn't know it? Once the crime is solved, does what you know matter? If you put a period at the end of the sentence, does that give you a final answer?
  13. That’s awesome! Coming to visit!

    #893 Ooops

That was an Uber tale of going viral. I loved the uncle putting up with his niece’s antics because that’s exactly what uncles do. I’m glad Summer and Craig split up because I never did like them together….🤓
  15. That is a lovely story and I love the smashed attic revealing it’s treasure. Wayne would have loved the surprise and the next great mystery hidden in those volumes and drawings. Great job honoring our friend.
  16. “Gross,” the beautiful man sneered. “Pride is the ancient splinter that wedged into a person festers and pollutes the soul,” was the reply.

    Jenny and Greg

What a lovely final gift. Music is the balm for the troubled soul and this was such a wonderful tableau. Reminded me of the O Holy Night we heard at our Christmas in Arizona. Beautiful song. Thanks for sharing with us Valkyrie!
  18. I loved the story of the sad toys looking for people to play with. What a delightful way of looking at it, wonderful job. Thanks so much Addy!

    Henry

What a sweet story. I relive Pink Floyd and was humming the song throughout the story. Great job!
  20. I’ve never named my vehicles. However, I once had a light blue small pickup that Ran called my Lesbian-mobile because every other gay woman in the neighborhood had a similar truck. I miss that truck.

What a delightful story and a wonderful Christmas gift. Very well done! Thanks for sharing Addy!

    The Apostles

There is still a lot of hidden and secret sexuality out there. Jason’s boss loves his cousin and wanted to make sure he got his due. Jason used that idea to confuse the neighbor. It worked and then it’s over. These characters may never meet again. We will see. But Jason’s story is only beginning. thanks for the wonderful comments!

    The Apostles

I loved doing the slow reveal. Jason and Tom are probably two sides of the coins because both are outlaws, one hides, one revels. Thanks so much Valkyrie!

    The Apostles

It really is a character sketch and set within a story, that’s absolutely right. We are sexual animals and for some the hunt is as addicting as the capture and release. thanks for the awesome review.
