I love both carrot cake and zucchini cake as well as anything loaded up with fruit. Of course, it's even better when chocolate is added!!!

Fruitcakes have a definite role in our lives and social interactions. Your family tradition is one I've heard a few times before. Since they are definitely a rich treat, they are usually enjoyed more when it's a little cooler and at a holiday. This fruitcake isn't nearly as dense as some recipes. You may like the more aromatic and lighter texture of this cake. Thanks for reading and commenting!!!

Beau is an especially favorite character of mine. His part is short in this story, but he resonates with me. That "fruitcake' reference was part of this story as well. I loved poking fun that gays used to be called fruitcakes and boy are we resilient!!! I appreciate your kind, and insightful, words.

So very true. It's the memory and intent that matters so much. Thankfully, at this time of year we pause and think about such things. My grandma loves her fruitcake, the heavy, super rich ones, but I found that I like SOME fruitcakes especially with a scoop of ice cream or some whipped cream. You know, to cut the richness, as my husband says. I appreciate your reading and your lovely comments!!!

My great grandma always tried to save the paper from her Christmas presents as she opened them. We teased her that packages should be ripped open wildly, not carefully extracted. I'm much more like Beau with a surprise!!! Thanks for reading!

Aditus When Valkyrie, Cole, and I wrote twenty-five stories and/or poems and put together An Advent Calendar in 2016, I found out I love collaborating with others, especially with my good friends.
