  1. Thank you!!! Taran's not a bad guy, but Cole didn't see that at first. He was the one who imagined his boyfriend had a mean streak, when it turns out he was a pretty decent guy. Thanks Puppilull!!!
  2. Ditto! Taran's just a bit of a grumpy bear, not a mad hatter!
  3. Exactly! He's not a bad guy, just a little gruff around the edges and Cole didn't see that at first. Thanks for the insightful comments!!!
  4. I'm not sure Taran's anger was ever really that bad. All Cole thought he did was lash out a little too vehemently verbally. Whenever Cole faced Taran's annoyance, he DID get the generous side, which was why they were boyfriends and not just casual affairs. Anyway, thanks so much for the comments.

    O Holy Night

Such a great job with this lovely story of a man finding his way home. It is a tear jerker. Lovely story.
  6. I love how you put a little magic in this Christmas tale. Oh, and I'll have to try that cookie recipe, maybe for Valentine's day. I've already got too many cookies and sweet men to eat!!! Great job Addy!

    Amuse Buche

Funny story. One of my first jobs was selling cookware in a department store that has since gone away, and grape jelly and ketchup was the basis for the sauce they had me make in store and hand out samples!!! I love it!!! Awesome job.

    Snowy Pizza

As a former pizza place worker, I can totally see this happening. What a great story my friend.

    The Potluck

It really does. It makes us appreciate those around us more, if we take notice. Thanks so much Puppilull!!!

    The Potluck

It really is a great way to show our care and affection. When we help others who've helped others, we are paying back. I appreciate your lovely comments.

    The Potluck

Thanks so much Parker. I'm so glad you like it. I have friends who affect me like Wayne and Dooley and like to think we'd all gather to help if they needed it.

    The Potluck

Thank you so much!! I'm so happy the story moved you. I know it did to me as I wrote it. I could feel their friends gathering.

    The Potluck

Thanks Page Scrawler!! The ginger isn't really evident unless you omit it. It adds a bit of freshness to the mix, without tasting at all gingery.

    The Potluck

One of my favorite gay bar stories as a bartender is waiting on a bunch of big leathermen, and they were swapping recipes for a bake sale for the gay church. It was so strangely endearing, and I'll never forget it.

    The Potluck

That's so true. What an interesting perspective. That would make for a great way to present an event as well. Great idea!!!

    The Potluck

Thanks Valkyrie!!! I felt my own misty tears as I reread it before posting.

    The Potluck

I appreciate your kind words. I do think helping your fellow human beings out is a Christmas, and overall winter holiday, tale.

    The Potluck

Thanks so much Addy. I do love that idea and I think it's especially appropriate to remember around the holidays.

    The Potluck

Thank you so much for the compliment. I really love the idea of a community coming together to help their loved one. I think it shows the best in humanity. I really appreciate the kind words.
  20. Don’t Forget the Cranberry Sauce By Cole Matthews “We need to stop at the store on the way to my mom’s,” Taran said. He was pulling gifts from under the Christmas tree and stacking them in a cardboard carrier. “Boy, you bought a lot of shit.” “Why?” I asked sharply, feeling annoyed at his jab. “We’re already late.” “My mom called and needed us to pick up a couple of things,” he answered, then hollered, “Goddamn it. I’m bleeding!” “What happened?” I said, walking across
  21. That's great!! I'm so thrilled you understand my meaning. I am quite proud of this work. Thanks for all your help!!!
  22. Thanks Addy!! No, this story isn't really about homelessness per se. It's about the little part of us that stands at a railing and feels the urge to jump. It's that wonder as we look around and see all we have and feel we don't really deserve it all. I appreciate your comments and I'm so pleased you get my story. Thanks you for you!!!!
  23. Thank you so much. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the story and I hope you will try the recipe sometime. It's an old family favorite I still make to this day.
  24. I'm very sorry you got this from the story. It's not about the narrator understanding the homeless or being part of the hopelessness of their situation. The story is about how human beings can be self-destructive and how this man feels he NEEDS to do this once year. I probably didn't portray this clearly enough, and for that I feel bad. He's not a bad person. He's not a noble person. He's a person who is struggling, like most of us, to find his way and feel complete. Thanks for the comments.
  25. The Potluck By Cole Matthews “Can you hand me the bowl of fresh minced ginger?” Colin asked, nodding towards the small glass monkey dish on the counter. Sammy thought he looked harried and annoyed, but the thin smile on his face said otherwise. “Here you go,” the smaller man said, handing over the ingredient. Colin tried to blow a lock of his ginger hair away from his lips, but it simply floated for a moment and then alit back on the corner of his mouth. “Please dump it i
