  1. Thanks Lisa! I'm glad you liked my beginning. This was the first scene I had in my head. I'm happy it translated well. Awesome!
  2. Thanks Stephen. We don't know yet what Lawson did to get thrown in jail this time. All we know is he's been in prison before. Cory is having a rough time of it. Even though he's a professional, this is his first real job. Before this he was an intern. Cory's world is imploding. You're very right about that. He doesn't know it though. Cory is still the walking wounded. I appreciate the very thoughtful review.
  3. We will find out why he's locked up little by little. Cory's ex isn't exactly what he seems. Sandy seems to be a dick. We aren't done getting to know him yet. Thanks for the wonderful review. I appreciate it!
  4. Yes, we moved from guilt into anger at the end. Next segment, we'll deal with some serious rage. Anyway, when I thought about the guilt feelings, I realized they aren't rational. They are as misplaced as Cory's attraction to Lawson is. I'm glad you caught that. Thanks for the awesome review!
  5. Chapter 6 – Lady Macbeth February 14th Cory fingered the array of red roses in the urn. He had paused at the gift shop in the hospital when he smelled the aroma of the flowers wafting into the hallway. This would be his first Valentine’s Day in years without buying or receiving roses. Every year, Sandy bought him a single red rose and a tiny box of chocolates. Cory would buy Sandy tulips, his favorite. Purple. Sandy preferred purple tulips if possible. Last year he’d given him red tuli

    Legacy

Is the story over? I'm loving the complexity, the honesty, the brutal reality of Lem and Mattie's love. I hope some day you finish it.
  7. Congratulations!!! Well deserved!
  8. It feels so good when others get what you're trying to do. You've summed up my thoughts as I wrote that scene. I wanted it to show Lawson as a bit of an enigma and Cory as trying hard not to screw up. Thanks so much AC! What an insightful review and much appreciated.
  9. Cory doesn't really know he's in crisis. He's upset, but he doesn't believe he's out of control. I'm glad it's making you nervous. You should be. Thanks for the very insightful review!
  10. You are absolutely right. Cory is prey at this point. You've captured the feeling I've tried to convey perfectly. His vulnerability is telling and he certainly feels he's not up to the job. However, remember, we can see inside Cory while others cannot. We know how he feels and what he's experiencing. His boss doesn't know about Sandy. Also, he's not responsible for Lawson's attack. He's just doing his job. Thanks for the really, really good review.
  11. Chapter 5 - Lady MacBeth February 13th The hallway seemed overly cheerful. At least, that’s how it made Cory feel. There were happy, spirited posters and framed photos with dancing puppies and country scenes of geese. As Cory walked down past carts loaded with equipment and piles of laundry, he couldn’t help but feel low. Everything he’d supposed as right, was wrong. All his suppositions, his theories were incorrect. The bottom had fallen out of his futures. Sandy hadn’t just left him. H
  12. Thanks AC! It is overwhelming when we first have a loss. We do feel alone and like it will wash us away. Those are the perfect images for how he's feeling. I really appreciate the thoughtful review.

    Chapter 8

Bravo Graeme! You portrayed the pressure cooker of the closet beautifully. Roscoe boxed himself in, put on the heat, started cooking away, and almost exploded. That is what happens time and time again. Then, when you think it will never let up, a ray of light, a breath of fresh air comes in and gives reprieve. Fantastic job showing us those emotions and reactions. I loved how you did it in the same club Tony and Jim met. It's a lovely bookend effect. I also like how Ty steps up and gives Ross his space. Really a very powerful, yet not overly dramatic, chapter. Sure, Stuart continues to be an unknown, but for the most part, it was mostly internal. We felt as Ross struggled with his fears, hopes, and anxiety. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait for more!
  14. Happy Birthday Rob! Hope you had a special day.
  15. Yeah, Sandy had a foot out the door and was trying to get Cory to accept it. He couldn't or wouldn't. Simon couldn't handle life so he gave up. Now Cory is mixing up his situation with the other two. I appreciate the thoughtful review! Thanks Puppilull
  16. I appreciate the kind review. Cory was living in denial about Sandy. When things finally came to a head, he took it hard. The repercussions will continue. Things can change overnight, though from now on the changes won't be quite so drastic. Thanks Tim!
  17. 4 Simon Peter February 12th When he got the call, he couldn’t believe it and he gulped loudly. His mother had said over and over that bad news comes in threes. Cory always smiled when she said it because you tended to notice patterns even when no such thing existed. The human brain evolved to create meaning out of patterns. This was one of the more powerful things the nervous system could do; anticipate danger. However, the brain could also create patterns even with non-related occurrenc
  18. Thanks AC! I'm glad it worked for you. I think the scents of things can set a mood. It conjures up fear and desire so well. Cory is very serious about his future. He has done his research and worked to develop skill sets. The end of Simon Peter comes next. After that, we are next into Lady Macbeth. Thanks for the kind review!

    After the 30

I've never been a poet. I do feel the same way about writing prose as you expressed here. It becomes both addictive and therapeutic. If I don't get the words out, they begin to fill me up and I want to explode. That's how it feels to me. Thanks!
  20. Happy Birthday Graeme! I hope your day is special. You deserve it.
  21. You are very perceptive. We will see how Simon plays a part. Cory's day wasn't bad, yet things are a bit off as you've surmised. Thanks!
  22. I hope you do. There is much ahead. Cory is about to engage and it will be interesting. Thanks!
  23. Perhaps. Cory must believe some things considering his job. Things are only starting out. We have much story since it's just starting. Thanks so much for the review!
