    Chapter 26

“What a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.” Jasper thought it was so easy but turns out the tables were turned on him. I don’t think he even knows what reality is anymore. Hope he gets put where he’ll get the help he needs.

    Chapter 25

I must confess that I didn’t see that coming!

    Chapter 20

The institution is not capable or has no desire to protect those they are supposed to protect. It’s time to take out Jasper for good! Enough is enough, time to mete out justice.

    Chapter 19

I think you know who is looking for Kallum! Kalaum is starting to defy Jasper if only by baby steps; that’s going to go over like a lead balloon. I’m worried what price will be have to be paid.

    Chapter 18

This chapter is a lovely Christmas gift, a respite in the maelstrom. Now that the boys have expressed their feelings, sealing them with kisses, it will be difficult to mask their feelings. If Jasper gets even the smallest hint of this there will be hell to pay.

    Chapter 17

It’s becoming more evident how psychotic Jasper (or is it Simon?) is. As the memories get clearer will Jasper become more determined to kill Kallum?

    Chapter 16

With such obvious signs of abuse it’s hard to understand the nurses reluctance to press for further investigation. In our medical system (Canadian) this would have been cause for concern and triggered an immediate response by child welfare services. How much worse does it have to get before either Kallum finally breaks down and admits the abuse or that Jasper either, intentionally or not, goes too far and causes irreparable harm? Any volunteers to help take Jasper down?

    Chapter 15

Surely now Jasper will be found out! This goes far beyond physical abuse and cannot be easily explained away or taken as just a bit of fun. We don’t know what Jasper may have done to Robert at this point. We need answers now!!

    Chapter 11

My late Mother always said “if you play with fire you’re going to get burned.”
  10. Brings back memories of bringing up two little kids after their Mom died at a young age. And despite many tears, surprisingly things got better.
  11. While Cal wishes to stay in “the pit (depths)of guilt” as my late Mother called it and Calvinists love to stay, Chris would not allow it. The boys sure complement each other. They both can support each other when the need arises. Music, the great healer ❤️
  12. Thank you for such a thoughtful chapter; words that not only Caleb but also myself need to hear. No condemnation needed, only understanding. Beautiful music indeed to end this conversation. Words we should all heed: “Go forth and be good, young man”
  13. Sadly we only interact on a need to basis as my “sinful lifestyle” is such a wedge issue, especially with my orthodox brother. Unbelievable that it happens today, but unfortunately that’s just the way it is.
  14. Poor Caleb. Calvinist and Catholic blood running through his veins. I grew up in the Reformed church ( my oldest brother is elder in the Orthodox Reformed Church, my 2 other brother elder and deacon in the Christian Reformed Church). Fear of God’s punishment and guilt for our sins weigh heavy on our souls. No wonder Caleb is at the bottom of the ocean with all this angst. Let’s hope his Mother’s words will let him release this pressure he puts on himself (not an easy task as I can attest).
  15. Maybe the title of the chapter should be “an eye for an eye”

    Imago

Caleb has been indoctrinated to believe that as long as we follow the rules as set by the church that we will be righteously rewarded. He also believes that Chris is not at all like his Dad so infidelity won’t be an issue ( he’s reiterated this to Chris a couple times as Chris has struggled). In both he is utterly betrayed, how he’ll deal with this will be interesting and I can’t wait to find.
  17. Chris reminds me of a puppy chasing a ball; so excited and full of life; yet shows moments of maturity and empathy. The boys certainly complement each other . Sad the updates won’t be as frequent but I’ll anticipate each chapter eagerly!

    Thou Mayest

Wish I had that advice given to me on my eighteenth; might have not made some of the decisions I made. My tissue box is strangely empty now.
  19. No words! The boys are experiencing a beautiful build up to a very mature and loving relationship; shame on Dad for trying to ruin it with his self indulgent bigotry pretending it’s only to protect his son. Reminds me of the axiom “throwing someone under the bus” in this case quite literally. ❤️🤬😱💩
  20. Thanks, much better font selection
  21. Personally I find this font really difficult to read (getting old sucks). Interesting to get Chris’ point of view but like Dan, more information about the reason Chris was expelled is needed.
  22. “Calm thy testicles” lol, can I borrow this phrase? absolutely hilarious 😆

    The Coup

Can I give this more than 1 ❤️? I know you said this is your first story but I think it’s very well done. I know it’s predictable but sometimes you just need a good dose of uncomplicated romance.
  24. All’s well that ends well. I’m going to miss this story and all its colourful characters. A tribute to the author for making them come to life and making them feel like just old friends.

    Chapter 12

Beautifully written story. Kleenex came in handy as I read this chapter. Jill certainly didn’t wait long to re enter the picture, but I guess as I recall Jericho said in an earlier chapter there wasn’t a whole lot of choice in the area.
