  1. Stepping away from the conversation now...
  2. Clubs are only supposed to have a short shelf life when they're someone else's investment. I quite like my nieces and nephews, too. I would not want to live with three toddlers, though. Or any toddlers for that matter. And I really despise people who take crying babies to restaurants. What is wrong with those people? I loved Perfect Strangers (although, in retrospect, I was watching it as a kid in a foreign country with very little context). I agree that the set up with JJ and Carullo bodes well for some extremely funny moments. Exactly how small are we talking here?
  3. I hate to break it to you, but you'll have to get used to the blabbering getting if you're going to hang out in this particular forum. That said, a conversation about fish, meat sauce and fried foods is perfectly on topic for the story at hand. If we'd been discussing Sunday dinner, that would have been an entirely different chapter.
  4. Ha! That's what I was wondering.

    Chapter 7

I think JJ would consider it a complement to be considered an Upper East Side Stiff. He is completely on the mark with his views on children...except he forgot to mention that they're also germ factories. I'm really glad that he didn't bow to the demands of the USFSA, although it helps that he can afford to walk away. And it's hilarious that he's totally onboard with Will's "spend Brad's money" plan, even though he doesn't have a clue about the end game. I think I might be liking JJ almost as much as Will right now. Of course, Will was awesome, as always.
  6. Haha. For me it is just the poached salmon. And maybe shrimp. That said, French fries and meat sauce are among my weaknesses. (Although, I probably wouldn't want to eat them together.)
  7. Love this!

    Chapter 52

I hate to be the lone naysayer here, but this plan for Ty to play in the final seems like a really bad idea to me. One of the benefits of pain after an injury is that it helps us avoid further injury. By accelerating the healing process then numbing the pain so that Ty can play sounds like a recipe for an even worse injury to me, even if it has been done successfully before. I'd say the real gamble is not with the club's funds but rather Ty's future career. That said, it would make for pretty dismal story telling, so my guess is that this is not what you have in mind for our young brat. I am also going to go out on a (pretty safe) limb and predict that Neil, Liam and Clarissa plan a birthday party.

    Chapter 35

Brigands! And I thought this book couldn't possibly get any better after the introduction of covert operatives and a quest. So happy for the nice lieutenant, even though it means we'll lose him. Hopefully we'll get him back at some point.
  10. Will has spent a lot of time supporting Father Tim's Mission.

    Chapter 6

Not to diminish Carullo's contribution, but didn't Will figure out on his own that he needed to speak to Zach face-to-face? He was on his way there when JJ's crisis distracted him. I'm glad you addressed the issue of Will's not mentioning his age and that some of his older partners might not be pleased if they later found out. I think I may have mentioned this at one point with respect to Dylan. I'm glad he and Carullo worked things out though. My guess is JJ has planned to conduct his recuperation/rehab in NYC and is none too pleased to find himself saddled with a roommate not of his own choosing. I expect he'll find Carullo useful, though, even if it's only to reach the high shelves.
  12. That was lovely. Like ColumbusGuy, I had no idea who Caitlyn Jenner was until I went to my usual source of information (husband). It really is a beautifully written letter. I hope she gets to read it someday.
  13. Well, you are quite lovely in your photo. We should probably let these nice people get back to ranting about Alex and ME now.
  14. Sadly, I think that window of opportunity may have closed. At least until I retire.
  15. I didn't even manage that.
  16. What they should have done is call the police. Nothing like a few well-placed truncheons to clear a lawn. Damn I feel boring now. High school was pretty much about school for me.
  17. Alex probably should have had some contingency plan for security. More importantly, though, we now know how Mark weighs in on the poached salmon issue.
  18. That was very diplomatic of you, Tim. Except for the part where you came perilously close to calling Mark boring.
  19. Oh, all right. But only if the murder-suicide involves Alex and ME, leaving little Ricky to be raised by a series of indifferent governesses until he eventually becomes a victim of the public school system.
  20. That would be grim in the extreme, even for Mark. Ah, Sue Ellen Ewing was the designated drunk at Southfork. I don't see JJ as a drunk, though. I think he will channel all his energy into a design career. After he destroys ME.
  21. That sounds pretty tasty.
  22. I had no idea my offhanded comment about poached salmon was going to spark such an intense debate. Surely we could find something more interesting to talk about. FWIW, I prefer my salmon raw--in sushi, with avocados.

    Chapter 5

More Will awesomeness! Abandoning his mission to see Zach immediately upon hearing JJ's plight was perfect! As was his eventual response to Zach. Much better to keep Zach guessing. And Will is finally realizing how untenable his position is as second fiddle to football in Zach's priorities. (Was that a mixed metaphor, btw? I honestly can't tell.) I love that JJ appreciated Will's being his rescuing knight...until he realized that made him the damsel who needed rescuing. The covert escape operation was brilliant! Overall, this was a truly excellent chapter, but one thing confused me: does anyone really like poached salmon?

    Chapter 51

So much positivity in this chapter: the Leopards are on a winning streak and Dave is happy! I want to weep for the poor Brat, though. He must be so incredibly despondent right now. Although I am going to disagree with Maarten in that a 6-week recovery period should not hurt his chances with the AFL. Two really funny moments: 1. Ollie's showing off in his underwear was brilliant! You picked the perfect character to lose his shorts. Btw, do football players intentionally wear good undies on game days just in case? 2. Right before the Brat referred to Deon as a baby brother, I was thinking how much like an annoying kid brother he (Ty) was.
