Why should CJ have all the fun? Only fair Owen gets his own idiot. Not speaking Spanish isn't so big an issue, but expecting everyone to accommodate him is. Owen's a farmer and CJ's a spoiled dilettante, the man obviously lives in a bubble. In the prior six months, there were reports of a Russian spy defecting, Oscars won, an NYT Sunday Magazine feature, and Liebe's kidnapping and rescue report; even a hermit would realize CJ and Owen aren't ordinary people. LOL I loved surprising readers with Owen being the one to deck Jay.

He's as protective of his family as CJ is. And let's not forget he's a big, fit lad. He can definitely handle himself in a scrap.

I'll guarantee that Hilary Clinton does not show up in this story. LOL However, since the Cuban president made an appearance, I'll have to give the American one a cameo too.

Jay's the epitome of the ugly American traveler. I wonder if he complains about the food too and mentions the lack of McDonalds. I posted the pictures of CJ and Owen I used as my wallpaper while writing this story sometime last week.

Did you get to read during your lunch break? I've now set stories in Australia, Mexico, Spain, and Cuba. When I realized 3 out of the 4 locations were Spanish-speaking countries, I decided I need to branch out. Nothing planned yet, but sooner or later we need our boys trampling around Europe again. The last time was in London and Amsterdam before their wedding!

Jay needs to learn how to treat stakeholders with respect. CJ being popular bruised his ego, but he's now well aware our man's not only a pretty face but a significant contributor to the Conservancy. Let's hope he realizes he should keep his petty grievances to himself for the rest of their time in Cuba.

I've always believed genius can be obscured by personality. Jay may lack the interpersonal skills that would allow others to see his worth. Since the reception took place on Wednesday, the day the delegation arrived in Havana, we have a day and a half of meetings ahead. Any chance Jay's shoe ends up in his mouth again before they leave?

LMAO It's something to do with the last names; Stephen's points north and Jay's west. Behind the scenes... When I decided to make Jay black and an idiot, I thought of Ye West. This was right after Kim's ex made his antisemitic comments and Adidas dropped him like a hot potato. That's what inspired my character's name.

I've accomplished my goal. An author who can capture readers' interest with the first line, first paragraph, or first chapter is lucky. It means people will read more. By the same token, an initial bad impression could mean someone drops the story on the spot. Let's hope this fits into the first category.

Glad to have you in my world for another adventure. The invitation to the Nature Conservancy, and Cuba's invitation for CJ to join them, hint at those changes Spike mentioned in Newport. Alicia understands the world is complex and so are international relations, but Jay's worldview's so narrow he misses the clues.

Is this reaction appropriate for happy Fridays? Isn't it interesting the president of Cuba knows who CJ is (I couldn't resist someone calling out his name LOL) but it's an American who isn't happy? If Jay didn't have his head so far up his behind, he may have realized he's picking on someone with connections.

Yep, back for a short stay. And if I'm back, CJ's definitely along for the ride. Wanker keeps following me around and whispering in my head. As for Jay being put in his place, would that be on the floor on his ass? Owen may have already done that. It's usually CJ being the physical one so I decided to mix it up a bit. Does it work?

When Owen Liston is invited to join a Nature Conservancy delegation traveling to Havana, his husband, CJ Abelló, tags along. He claims there was no chance he would pass up the opportunity to visit Cuba. He may be planning on spending his time sightseeing and day-drinking, but changes are coming to the land of his grandparents. and he will find himself in the middle of events. the third brother's only 2 years younger and we did fight growing up. Thankfully, unlike the type of relationships I see amongst other siblings, the three of us get along really well as adults.

CJ will have a complicated relationship with religion and clerics. At one point a difference of opinions balloons into a huge family fight. But that's way off in the future. -
Paddy gets his own story act and even a spinoff at some point. It'll be a while since I want to write about him after he finishes college with only two or three small flashbacks.

I have more fun with Harley's infatuation with Brett in upcoming installments. A few readers immediately thought about sex, but that's not what I had in mind. It's the way I would around someone like Morgan Freeman if I ever got to hang around him.

Didn't I tell you they might be moving closer than you could imagine? After having them in Virginia, I realized I needed JP and Tom in DC so I started planning the move before their location was important. You may notice the reasoning in coming chapters/stories.

Missed by the author and everyone else who read the chapter, Capital Grille was a typo. It's been changed to Forbes Grille, the same name I used in previous stories (remember Cesar's 40th b'day celebration? Inspired by the Cosmos Club in Washington and similar ones in other cities, the place's private and only open to members and guests. I may have spent a happy hour or two at the Bankers' Club in Miami when I worked in corporate America.
