  1. “What do you think?” Ritch kept his eyes on the road, waiting for Bender to pass judgement. They had left Will’s old pickup at the Academy, agreeing Heinrich was a better ride, and were on their way to Wyoming to celebrate Thanksgiving with the Bender family again. Ritch was more concerned with the speech he was to deliver Friday morning. “It’s good, bro.” Will stashed the phone in a cup holder; he had been reading the remarks Ritch had prepared for the ceremony. “Short and sweet and very w
  2. @Defiance19 Thank you! Glad you've enjoyed it so far. The main reader complaints so far are that Ritch's too straight and gets laid way too easily. LOL If you're ready for one more, it's already uploaded. It'll go live tomorrow morning.
  3. Ooopsie... Did I forget to mention this? I notice it got your attention.

Anyone wanting to have 'words' with Zoltan, Heinrich, and/or Rita, please form a line behind me. This is were my violent nature peeks out. Somebody needs to tell Zoltan slavery was abolished a while back.

I did not think of rhum but I did figure they'd have cachaça so they could make caipirinhas. CJ's first ink was in Amsterdam. Storm Ink is where he gets his 21st b'day tat.
  6. Hey Jojoe. Our current pandemic hasn't been as lethal as what I wrote, but it highlighted how our interconnected world can turn a local problem into a global one. What disturbs me most is how our high dependence on foreign goods, and the just-in-time approach to inventory most retailers use these days, can lead to shortages. Who'd thunk toilet paper would be such a hard commodity to find.

They closed it down before I could climb it. What blew my mind was how nobody thought ahead. Any decent lawyer would have mentioned potential liability even after all the releases climbers had to sign. I do have a character climb it in one of The Squad spinoffs.

My last bottle of the 81 Opus One case I bought in the early 80s I drank on my 50th birthday. That stuff's tasty. I've gone ballooning one, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Would love to return during balloon fest. Purple Flame's entirely fictional. Planning for future stories, I wanted a winery I could do whatever I wanted with and not risk being sued in case I said anything bad about them. I studied Napa maps, picked a location, then went searching for nearby real wineries to throw in as places visited. I wanted them to start building a varied collection for when they get their wine cellar. The winery, restaurant, and guesthouse were already featured in another story, and will receive at least a mention in another one I'm working on.

I say we go climb The Vessel with Damien. If he happens to fall, it'll just be labeled a suicide. Are firearms even allowed on National Park properties? I know I played loose with how the Secret Service functions, but I couldn't resist having Harley mention his Leatherman as a weapon. I wonder if they airbrushed it out of the wedding photos.

I've really enjoyed your descriptions of where Brandon goes. The fires last year were horrendous, and now they have more water than they know what to do with. Bloody Mother Nature's not being kind to Oz.

LMAO All the way to Australia so he could share his experience fighting bush fires. To be honest, that would have been enough for me. Throwing in a bunch of wolves was icing.
  12. Considering one of his fathers' a life-long registered Republican, that might have gone against Ritch's upbringing. :)
  13. @Bft I need to get a car for a character and it's between a Volvo and a Subaru. I'll keep Scooby in mind. Whatever happened in Mexico, we know our family's physically intact. That's what matters.

When in the course of human events two men meant to be together find each other, no one will ever dissolve their ties. Jefferson might have been in my thoughts when I wrote that sappy stuff. You get a ton of extra points for making that connection.
  15. Nobody knows what happens, so I can still play with the order and results of it. I've only written through their first few weeks in Mexico so far.

Too fancy for a startup, rental apartment. Even for them. Baker Furniture might be a place they shop once they're ready to move to their house. I figured whatever went into the apartment, they would leave behind for future tenants (assuming they're students) or donate. I'll be fixing typos in these stories for as long as I live. Isn't it over 100k fully loaded? Brad was the second Squad member to get a spinoff. His eventual return to the US was interesting and I thought it deserved a little more details.

  18. You nuts? Gotta milk it for as long as possible.
  19. Thanks, Frank. I guess you missed my previous comment about Mexico. I'm currently working on CDMX. The book should be out in late 2021 and will chronicle CJ, Owen, and Liebe's time south of the border.
  20. I forget how many names I considered, but I'm happy The Wing found quick acceptance. And we have Brett to thank for it. LOL
  21. That's one tattoo I don't have! Can't ruin the beauty of my wings by being trampy.
  22. Thank you, Jeff. While trying to move the story forward, I like to include enough different details readers can use to get to know the characters a bit better. I tried to do it with Joel since he's fairly new to the cast. And of course, Ritch, without realizing it, has become the central figure of the group proving he has what it takes to be a kick-ass AF officer.
  23. Having someone like Kai take you under their wing has to boost Ritch's confidence. And of course he would pay it forward; it's what he learned at home. Let's see how he reacts when the spotlight's on him in the next chapter.

I wanted the guys to do something wild before their wedding. Dancing the night away under the influence followed by a little sex party sounded just right. Sitting here wondering if I have a picture of whomever inspired Tarik. If I find it, I'll share. The picture. Tarik I may have other plans for. LOL
  25. I know, right? Not sure why readers are so curious about Mexico. Very observant of you; it was Owen who mentioned Liebe's separation anxiety. I wonder how that came about.
