  1. You, better than most, know even if one story arc ends, another one will pop up sooner or later. I think CJ may have been Ritch's inspiration in his misdirection scheme.
  2. Thanks, Parker. I wanted to use the Malibu location and this was my final opportunity before the guys graduated. And having Mitch take a walk on the wild side was to tempting to resist.
  3. No masks required. Covid 19 does not exist in the CJ-Verse. I'm at my brother's house in Atlanta this weekend. One of our conversation topics yesterday was the new restrictions on ballot access passed by both GA and FL. One of my nieces' the most liberal person in the family, she was a Bernie Bro, she'll be doing Teach for America this fall, and plans to join the fight in her new home state.
  4. Interesting points you bring up. Ritch will visit Wyoming but not Brokeback Mountain. Homophobia and misogyny will both play a role in the story.
  5. Body fat measurements are a better guide. I know that's what I used a decade ago when I was at the gym almost every day and I was eating right. My Dr said BMI wasn't a good indicator for people with a muscular build. Bitting's too white bread looking and Phippen's too small for my taste. We can go out together, no competing for the same guy. LOL

    Open Call

Alexis? I may still be a little drunks and stoned. I haven't mapped out That much of Chipper's career, but he will definitely be spending time in LA. You should read this spinoff first, it does contain material I'll revisit.

    Prologue

LMAO My one hope's all potential weapons aren't reacheable until she's a little older. Kitchen knives in particular. Are you tasting the spinoffs before deciding which one to tackle? That's the impression I got last night when I looked at my notifications. I was unable to reply due to the amounts of Hendricks my brother kept pouring. I had Cesar wear a bowtie at some point and wanted CJ to follow the same path. I don't think he'll do it all the time, but bowties may show up again.
  8. I thought about the time difference and decided it could work if they were both at the point in their relationship sleep could be an acceptable victim. My instinct was proved right last night. A 25yo girl at the party I was at decided to call her boyfriend after 1 am. No time difference but he wasn't happy to hear from her. Of course, the fact she, and everyone else at the party, was wasted, could have ticked him off a bit.

    We're Alive

Thanks, JR. Although I may use 'quarter' words now and then, I strive to make my stories reachable and enjoyable. On multiple occasions I've stated I want my work to help people relax and forget about their daily routine. I'm happy you've gotten sucked into my world.
  10. Thank you. I'm constantly fascinated with how my stories have wormed their way into readers' hearts. The fact my characters can move someone's a responsibily I do not take lightly. Those responses make the work involved in completing and sharing each chapter worth it.
  11. Morning, @dughlas Did you see me wave at you and mom when I stepped outside on the deck a little while ago? I'm next door. In Georgia. As Ritch ends his time as a cadet at the Air Force Academy, I figured it was time for him to acknowledge the influence his family's had on him. I experienced some of that last night. Had dinner with my brother, his wife, and their two daughters. Both my nieces celebrate graduations this month. One from college last week, one from law school today. Both young women's success is partially due to their parents' influence and guidance. The same can be said for their values. I had a very interesting drive to Atlanta with one of them. We disagreed on a point, but when I pushed her HARD about it, she listened to what I had to say instead of clamming up. They give me hope for the future.
  12. Instead of leaving Friday afternoon after his commitment to the Academy was fulfilled, CJ stuck around for another night and treated The Wing to dinner. Ritch rented a plane the following morning and flew his brother to Denver. CJ had agreed to appear on the President’s behalf at a campaign fundraising event. The Republican Party, weakened by Trump’s coup attempt three years before, was spoiling for a fight. Multiple candidates sought the party’s nomination in 2024, and while the President did n
  13. This is a no-spoiler zone, so i'll refrain from confirming or denying your suspicions. However, by now I think you've figured out I do plant seed which may not germinate for a while. I've always claimed CJ and Chipper are the most alike of the group. Both have goals and are driven accordingly. We'll see if he can really read our boy.

    Mary's Place

Harley turned out to be a reader favorite. People think CJ's me, but a talkative, pothead biker's probably more autobiographical.

    Growin' Up

@JR Tittle At some point while writing Summer, I realized there was more to CJ's story than one season. I see the first five stories as a five-part book. The open endings may be jarring in serial publication, but would be easier to swallow if part of a long tome. Binge readers like you have an advantage over readers who had to wait. You'll figure out why I had the helicopter crash soon enough LOL
  16. LOL Reverend? I'm pretty sure I mentioned it somewhere, but I'll have you know I actually went to services at a local Episcopal church before I wrote this chapter. And while in Australia in 2009, I actually visited the one CJ's at. My complicated relationship with organized religion definitely influenced my writing, but CJ's feelings are not an exact mirror image of my own. I'm glad I was able to surprise you with the sermon. Hopefully pleasantly. You're a man of the cloth? Glad you're enjoying it so far. Keep reading and you'll see CJ grow and some of his attitudes evolve.

    GMA XXVII

@BlueWindBoy Thirty-Seventh Avenue? I think you mean 37th STREET? Ooops... You'd think after walking it a few times, and referencing it several times in the series, I'd not screw it up. Blame senility. It was a chance to grab a drink, use the bathroom, and for Liebe to get a fresh diaper. -- Ah, the quotidian details of existence! LOL I'm not entirely comfortable writing toddlers, but last night Liebe had a tantrum in Mexico City. Let's hope I got it right. I mean, I can't ignore her existence so diaper changing will be a regular occurrance for a bit. You have to realize where you come from is gone and focus on where you’re going. Like that? "[M]y attempt to tell a positive story about gay men is done." -- This is a LIE! A BIG LIE!! It was and it wasn't. Summer's reception by early readers encourage me to expand the story from CJ's move to DC. Once I wrote a second season, I realized I had to finish all four. Each new book brought ideas for further writing, and I simply followed along. Hail to the Chief, written and posted before Ripper Christmas and the one I'm currently working on, was meant as an epilogue in case I don't live long enough to finish everything. It'll be over 2 years CJ hasn't starred in his own story, but I used the time to share ancillary stories. They've been well received and I enjoyed working on them, but I'm ready for CJ to take center stage again. His initial posting will be to Mexico City and coming this fall you should be able to pick on me for how I fictionalize a consular officer's first overseas activities. Remind me again, who is Lincoln? FBI agent. Black, tall, muscular, gay. I was actually more impressed with Brett's speech at Abuelo's than with CJ's at graduation, though it was also well done. Did you at least like CJ's praise of Jesuits? Part of his evolving attitude towards religion.

    Embers 13

@WolfM Was that the same author who ended a story with the MC arrested and multiple other cliffies? I'm so proud of you. Keep them guessing!

    Embers 13

Thanks for the distraction. Spent the morning dealing with offshore customer service reps I barely understood, and I'm ready to kill somebody. How accurate are the downtime conversations? The sexual banter I assume you expand for the story, but I'm wondering how much really goes on. As for the woman and Brandon being burnt, Ethan better be able to fix him and tell us who she was. My heart rate's going to take a bit to return to normal.
  20. Thanks, JR. You have no idea how much it pleases me you're liking the series. Get ready to spend a few days south of the Equator.

    GMA XXVI

@BlueWindBoy OMG! The kid's one of Q's tricks! You going literal on me? LOL He'll just tell Australia he's with CJ and the country will understand.
  22. LMAO I have enough African American characters, I try to inject a little Black Vernacular English into conversations now and then. I'm probably screwing it up, but what the hell.
  23. Wholeheartedly agree. I use alright when writing dialogue and all right in narration. I've even ventured into using a'ight.
  24. One of the best pieces of advise I've gotten. I've tried to follow it since I first heard it from you years ago.
  25. Every passing year brings additional items that should be included in school's curriculum. I'm not sure what the saturation point is, but at some point lessons need to be culled. Deciding what to ditch and what to retain can't be easy.
