A few weeks ago, an idea sprung forth in one of CJ's forums, and I kind of ran with it. The result was a early Christmas present for CJ . After 'giving' the present to CJ he suggested that I post it here as well. So that's what I've done. So here is CJ's Christmas present for the entire Herd of Capricans to enjoy. Hopefully you like it as much as I did creating it. Steve Just Kidding An unusual cool breeze was blowing from the South today, a bit of salt in the air which meant that the winds off the Victorian coast by Melbourne must be strong. Not often did the coastal breezes make it far enough in land to the town of Tooboroc. But the wind was the least of the worries of a farmer who had a goat in labour for the last six hours. Usually a nanny in labour was only an hour or so, at most a two hour event. But this poor mother was having a struggle with getting the unborn kidd to come into the world. The farmer contemplated ringing up the vet after the second hour, and once again in the third hour. Unfortunately the vet was in Melbourne at some conference and he only received voice mail. All the farmer could do was to make the mother comfortable and be ready for the kidd when it finally arrived, still born or not. What concerned the farmer even more was that this goat was about a month overdue from the usual gestational period of goats. Finally after a sudden increase of bleating from the mother, the farmer noticed the rump of a kidd starting to make its way out. No wonder the mother was struggling so much, it was in breach. Realizing it was now or never, the farmer was able to manoeuvre a hand inside to grasp both of the hind legs and gently ease the kidd away from the mother. Finally with the head out, the farmer was amazed at the size of the goat being just born. Its black coat was still covered in afterbirth and the little bugger had horns already growing from his head. The kid took its first breath and kicked and bolted into an upright position. Looking down at his mom still on the ground, he immediately went over and started nursing on one of her teats. The farmer was concerned about the condition of the mother, and pulled the kidd away and decided that bottle feeding would have to be the most appropriate way to save both of them. Sure, there would be ramifications later in life for this goat for not getting the opportunity to feed off his mother, but he was so well developed the farmer was sure he would survive without it. After ensuring the mother was comfortable the farmer carried the kidd into the stable to clean him up. The farmer was amazed at the nearly half grown size of the goat. After washing him down he was shocked again. Since the farmer usually made his male kidds into wethers (castrated males) because they would have a better grade and quantity of meat, he was taken aback by not only the development, but also the size of this kidd

Interesting regional differences, even in Canada. Like elsewhere, if you want french fries, you'd ask for fries. With the "bag of chips", we do call them potato chips, both words. So it would be "grab me a bag of potato chips, will ya?" The crisps, I think we are usually referring to Mr.Christie (Nabisco in the US) "Crispers", which are flavoured baked, shaped thin crackers. (Not too sure, as I never really bought them for myself. Steve

Hmmm Me thinks that CJ is a role model for you to use cliffhangers . Steve

Let The Music Play Ch 18: Shadow Rising

Amazing how you can read something into what you read. With the talk of the tiger's eye, I decided to look it up. Not only did it have a description, but it also has meaning to it and who should receive it. You can read it here . It seems like maybe this stone may have been better suited for Brandon than Chase, unless it is really Chase that is the shy reserved person . Either way, I wonder if CJ knew this when he picked the gemstone. Steve -
CJ, I don't really think that is the best quote that you can use from Frenchcanadian. I think maybe the part of you being a role model here is a much better one. Steve

Would you have sex with someone who was HIV positive?
wildone replied to Menzoberranzen's topic in The Lounge
Wow I must say I'm surprised. First off, let me say that I totally understand and respect everyones opinions here, as everybody is entitled to them. What I find a little shocking, is some of the comments that have been posted here. I have been hoping that someone who is HIV + possibly commenting in this forum. Unfortunately if there was someone, I don't think they would be too comfortable doing so. I imagine that since we are a group of people attracted to GLBT writing, that there must be some members that are dealing with AIDS on a daily basis, either with it, or with someone that has it. Maybe we should all go back and look at our postings and see how we may have come across to someone in their shoes. I respect the honesty of everyone, but unfortunately I do see some attitudes that haven't really changed over the last twenty years. I guess the original question was a personal question, so people are expressing personal opinions. It just pains me a bit that we may be excluding some members by expressing those opinions without taking their position into thought. Okay, enough of my babbling. I did not post in order to make anyone feel bad about anything they said or feel, but just posted on the feeling that I have got over the last while in this forum. Please don't change your opinions, or feelings based on what I have said. All I ask is that everyone educate themselves and learn as much about this disease (plague?) that has swept the world. Thanks for letting me ramble. Steve -
Let The Music Play Ch 18: Shadow Rising

Great chapter CJ ! How can you say anything bad about a whole chapter that is 9/10 a pool party . As far as the Shadows go, I don't think I trust any of them at all. Just a feeling that I get. Even though they say things are cool between them, Steve or Zeke haven't really said what got them riled up in the first place. And as far as Wilde goes, he hasn't said anything at all. I did love their gift though, luckily Chase turned their ignorance into humour. I'm wondering if our goat is telling us the truth. If I was the new gunsmith, I would have been running for my life, even if it was out to the fertilizer project . Is that true, that (plastic) explosives won't react to fire? I would have thought just the sudden change in temperature would have caused the explosion. I wonder what Jon and Eric are up to with the planning going on after seeing Brandon's reaction getting on the bus. I imagine that driving a bus wouldn't rank up there with flying a plane, but who knows? One question for you CJ, that hopefully won't be considered a spoiler. You mentioned both story lines would eventually merge. I was wondering what the time difference is between the two stories at this point? I would guess that they boys will have concerts booked across the US (hopefully popping up to Canada for a concert or two) before they even consider going on to Australia. Oh, and I almost forgot...No Cliffhanger. I'm impressed . Steve -
I know everybody is probably busy with the holidays, but no posts in CJ's forum in over 24 hours !!!! Well maybe it is that everybody is in agreement that CJ is a prolific poster who uses cliffhangers in almost every posted chapter, and even CJ has given in and agreed . Hope everybody had a great weekend, and those that got the dump of snow here in North America are doing fine. Steve

OMG !!! I'm still scared from the arguments that my Grandfather and Dad had when Grandpa said first gear was a waste of time. Heaven forbid if I started in second with my Dad in the vehicle , we wouldn't be having this conversation now if I did. Steve Edit to add: Only exceptions were starting on ice, snow, or mud.

Happy Birthday Jan Hope you have a great day and continue to soar high throughout the next year. Steve

I agree with some posts that when visiting a foreign place, and you don't know the roads and not familiar with the vehicle, that the automatic takes one less thing to worry about out of the equation. Now does anyone have the experience of driving a "3 in the tree" manual transmission? Now that was idiotic in my opinion. Your gear shifter was on the steering column on the opposite side from your turn signal arm. It had 3 gears and a reverse. I didn't think the gearing was as well as a four or five gear floor mount. I had the pleasure of driving a van with it for six months, and I hope they retired the vehicle when I was done due most likely to a burnt out clutch, transmission, and a bent steering wheel from me pounding on it with my fists and cussing. Steve

Always have had manual, mostly due to having to drive on snow and ice covered roads. It easier to stop and start with the manual transmission.

Wherefore art thou come to thy conclusions of thee? Okay, bad example  , but the point is that english has changed as people have changed. Would it then be fair to say we should all speak English from Victorian times? Don't think of it as degradation, but evolution of the language . Steve

Upbeat song: Paralyzer by Finger Eleven Just a great song: Hallelugh by KD Lang (a bit better than Leonard Cohen's original version) They could be your Canadian contribution to the CD Steve

One of my closer friends has been living with HIV for over twenty years now. But he knows as well as I know, he is one of the lucky ones. Actually at times when his t cell counts change, his doctors take him completely off the meds for months at a time. But eventually he needs to go back on them. I have also been with him when he is having a rougher time, and it is not something you'd wish on anyone, for anything. If anything I learned from him over the past ten or so years is: Don't be afraid of someone with HIV/AIDS. Although safe sex is not really an option, it doesn't mean you need to shy away from them, not touch them, share a dessert with them , etc. I would say most people with it know what is risky and what is not. Just hopefully they know they have it, and second that they are a good enough person to tell you about it. Steve

I tell ya, their impostors!!! -
I think that I have a pretty good idea behind the two chapters, and I have a funny suspicion that if you look further into the past chapter, the explanation of the names of Chapter 19 and 20 might be hidden there . Hopefully this doesn't count as a spoiler, it's too damn cold outside to try and pull spines out of my body right now with mittens on. But since I'm not a alpha, beta, omega, delta, gamma, or zeta reader, I'm just guessing. Steve

wildone replied to wildone's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
CJ, I have done a little bit of research into your species . Now, I understand you are claiming to be a goat, right? And you live in the high mountains of Arizona, right? So would it be fair to say your a Mountain Goat? When you search Wikipedia for Mountain Goat it gives you this: So first off we find out that you're not a true goat ! An impostor I say. Next, it tells us that you like to rest on rocky cliffs that predators cannot reach. So in fact, you love cliffs, you life depends on cliffs, your survival is due to cliffs. This must mean that you "hang" out on cliffs to protect yourself from us . And while your up resting on your cliff, you must be thinking about how to use cliff (hangers) to get back at us. Steve P.S. I won't mention how the latin name, oreamnos kinda sounds like ornery -
Happy Birthday Benji !!! Here's hoping you have a great year!! Steve

Sorry CJ , but you appear five days too late for this post. It appears that posts 11, 12, and 13 are the binding rules. Possibly you can use the option of getting the majority of the GA Administrators to publicly name themselves and support your purposed changes . Keep us informed Steve

Hey Puppster, I noticed you mentioned you have read FTL and up to the current chapter of LTMP. So make sure you exercise your democratic right to let everyone know how you feel about CJ and the title of being :king: :king: The Queen of the Evilest Cliffhangers :king: :king: here. It seems 37 people have weighed in on this topic, and we would be glad to hear your opinion and share your vote, or you can remain totally anonymous . Steve

Ooops, my fault for not being more careful  . I must have still been in shock that not only did CJ end this chapter in a cliffhanger, but he announced that he would be putting seven key characters in a situation of a cliff hanger . Although I do believe LiS 26 was a doozy, I have a feeling it will pale in comparison to what is coming up for the guys in Instinct.
