The storm is the remnants of a category 1 typhoon that formed near Guam Isalnd, Typhoon Merbock, It has transitioned into an strong extratropical cyclone with hurricane strength winds. It brought all that typhoon moisture along with it, so lots of rain forecast over western and southcentral Alaska. Plus the strong winds across the long stretch of the Bering Sea, without any sea ice in the way so early in the fall, has resulted in a large storm surge impacting the west coast of Alaska, surging quite a ways up rivers. Fortunately, this system won't affect Southeast Alaska and @kbois cruise.

Ah, yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger was not the first athlete with a successful acting career. Buster Crabbe won bronze medal in 1928 Olympics and gold medal in 1932, both in swimming. Here's a photo from 1928 Olympics.

An interesting story. A lot of happened in Kits' life in only eight jam-packed chapters. I wonder if the word "not" in the following is a typo: "I was not comfortable with my new responsibilities."

What a great short story! Given it's length, I'd planned to read a little bit at a time, breaking it into chapters. Instead, when I started reading it, I couldn't put it down till I'd read the whole story. Interesting characters. Well plotted story. Challenging issues to read and learn about, without being didactic. It all seemed so real. Shay was fortunate to have such a loving, understanding, supportive father and friends. Thank you for sharing Shay's life with me. Brava!

So, Gates is human. I had missed that detail. Now I don't have to worry about him shifting when E confronts him.

You took the words right out of my mouth! Two effing weeks, I'll just have to read the 20,000-word Anthology story very slowly.

Thank you. Great story. Engrossing, well written, and interesting characters. It is a pleasure to see how different kinds of story. Reminds me of @Carlos Hazday when he started out on GA, a large variety of stories.

Another great chapter. The tension is ratcheting up, with the potential go even higher during the week of planning. Great writing, with the character having distinct and interesting personalities and voices. My favorite sentence, with me rolling on the floor, is "Zev was a savage savant when it came to deciphering, decoding and generally making heads out of tails."

Fortunately, we still have an onshore breeze here in the Bay Area, It only made it up to 84 in Emeryville/Oakland. Please take care of yourself, @scrubber6620, during this excessive heat week. And please everyone, focus your magic powers that this week of heat drying out vegetation is not followed by a plague of forest/wildfires.

Puppies into cheetahs, what a fun idea.

Besides the plight of the feral pups, the outlook for many of the other pups is not a happy one. Being stuck in between, what a horrible experience. To also be subjected to (possibly years) of sexual and other abuse must be devastating. Learning that some of the pups might not be to communicate at all is heartbreaking. You have taken us to a very dark black, @kbois. I hope you don't leave us there very long.

Condolences on your mother's passing. What good fortune that she was in a great state of mind at the end of her life.

Thanks, @Mawgrim, for another great story. It feels like I know all these people, that I've become part of the everyday life at Benden Weyr. Great writing. Looking forward to your future stories, including non-Pern ones.

This morning, out of the blue I was thinking about how humongous your CJverse project is. The main storyline begins in May 2013. This current story brings CJ up to the summer 2022 -- stories covering nine years so far. You've given us tidbits up to January 2041, so there's stories to come covering eighteen plus years more. As I said a humongous project. But that wasn't enough for your creative vision. Your heart has been so generous towards your readers that you've graced us with quite a few sideline stories about CJ's family and friends: Ritch, the Dads, Brad, Chipper, Thiago, Phil & Riley, Tony & Colt, the Key West dudes, Brion. (Did I miss anyone?) And there's a few more sideline stories you've hinted your are planning: Harley, Carson, Lincoln. Aja has come on so strong, I wouldn't be surprised if she demands to star in one, too. 🤣 And you'd be wise to start training a successor soon, so they can write the story of CJ's presidency. This is all to say that I'm in awe of what you've accomplished so far. I eagerly anticipate what we'll see from you over the next years. I'm extremely grateful for the joy that reading your stories has given me. I wish you to not get any more complaints or demands. Just hoorah, hoorah, hoorah.

What a trying time for your family, waiting for your mom to go. I don't know your mom, but here's what worked with my dad, who wanted all his money to go to three kids, with only minimal expense going for his care on the nursing home. He nearing 99 and when he had a major heart attack. He didn't regain consciousness, but hung on for a few days. Finally, my sister whispered in his ear how much the nursing home was really costing -- and he was gone within an hour. True story. May you and your family be surrounded by love as you mourn.

Thanks, Carlos, for this sweet story. It's nice to see our boys having a breathing space on their lives before getting caught up in the increasing intensity of their eighteen year rollercoaster drive to the presidency. I'm looking forward to the R.I. wedding story you said you're working on. And to your anthology contributions to see what non-CJ tidbits you've cooked up for us. Take care of yourself. Especially when your fans get as demanding as those CJ has to deal with.

To us readers, no CJ stories for a while means at most a month, maybe five weeks.
-
Come on, Carlos. I thought you knew us readers better.
-
I'd marry both of them. (On the other hand, I doubt I have the needed energy nowadays.)
-
They're like one being with double mind, body, interests, personalities. Super power.
-
Thanks, Carlos, for another well-written, intimate, engrossing and FUN chapter. What a powerful force CJ and Ozzie have become for bettering the world.
-
I hope you it's a New York minute.

As long as the stories keep coming, size doesn't matter. (I something like that when I was younger, but it wasn't about stories.)

Yessss! CJ's mainline story continues!!!! Starting with a great chapter. Jill Biden was a hoot. Great to meet old friends -- you write so well, they all seem like my own old friends. The press swarmed CJ Thursday evening. Yet on Friday morning, CJ, Owen and Liebe went to buy Liebe a dress, then to the barber for haircuts and hang out with the dads , then they all (along with Rod and Taisha) walked six blocks and ate lunch in a restaurant -- all of them being in public without any press catching on. How, pray tell, did they bring that off?
