I think Jarrad enjoyed the camping out in the bush, I certainly did, as I settled into my swag each night, as I watched the stars high above and listened to the sounds of the night animals coming out to feed, and the distant chatter coming from around the camp, before drifting into a comfortable sleep. Our last work day was Friday, and we had elected to travel to Newman that evening, to get a head start on our journey home. We had packed up our belongings during lunch and loaded everything

Knacker rings are a rubber ring that is placed above the two testese (knackers) to castrate the male cattle. circulation is cut off and the testese eventually drop off, without any major harm or pain to the animal.

Half an hour later, I had replaced all four blades, which were all in a bad state, and Jarrad drove off happy, as he continued the mowing. I was also given the task of fixing punctures on two tyres, which is always a tough job to do, but luckily the station has the proper gear, I just had to let Harry show me how to work it properly before I could start the repairs. It was late afternoon by the time I had finished the tyres and put them back on the vehicles that they came from, it was time

An hour later, we came up to our third creek crossing, this one was a bit wider than the others and had a lot more water in it, but, the water level marker told me that it only had half a metre of water in the creek, so it wasn’t too worrying, and we managed to cross over with no issues at all. After crossing over, we parked under some trees near the crossing, we decided to have our lunch break, and I pulled out the awning to get some shade, while Jarrad grabbed the table and chairs. After

Stop trying to force North American words onto us, i am sick and tired of this continued unwanted American influences in Australia.

AUSTRALIA HAS CATTLE STATIONS. Some of them are bigger than European countries. The US has Cattle Ranches. First off, we don't call them 'ranches' the smaller ones are just farms, the larger ones are stations, and cattle stations are all over the country, we also have many sheep stations, and a lot have both.
-
Not a Ranch, its a Cattle Station. There are no ranches in Australia, only stations and farms.

When my mobile rang again and I saw that it was Gramps, I decided to ignore the call, as I climbed back into my vehicle and returned the way I came until I was back at Marmion Ave and headed south for home, which was a 50-kilometre drive. I stopped off to see Jarrad on the way, but he wasn’t home, so I just headed home, where I found the house empty, and a note on the table to say that Gran and Gramps had gone out. I had no idea what I was going to do for the next four weeks, as I scanned t

That is the reason for the purchase, to stop land development there… plus signs on the side of the road indicate possible limestone sinkholes in the area, which is common on WA coast.

The day after Koen and Hugh had flown back to their home countries, Gran and Gramps announced that the three of us would be spending Christmas and New Year in Tasmania, as a graduation present to me, and that we would be leaving eight days before Christmas, which was just over two days away, and that it would be an organised coach tour for 12 days. With so little time, I had to organise what I would be taking with me on this trip, while Gran told me what the trip was going to be like, with

After our first meal at the complex, we continued the tour of the other buildings in the complex, and the guys were amazed at what they saw there. “I do agree with your statement earlier about going a bit overboard, but I also see this as a great opportunity for having it used for great things. How much land do you have here surrounding this place?” Koen asked me. “In total, 4,794 acres, but there is a good amount of that land that is not cleared, and some of that land has been made into a

“Simba, do you think that this is…” Jimbali started to say softly in Swahili but didn’t finish the sentence, as I smiled and nodded my head. I slowly held out my hand before saying in Swahili, “Hello my old friend, it is good to see you again,” just as the elephant smelt my hand, and let me run my hand up his trunk, as he lowered his head, and rubbed against me, forcing me to fall to my side, and he ran his trunk along my side, and rolled me over, which made me laugh and I managed to sit up onc

One Year Later – High School Graduation Day I couldn’t believe how fast my final year in high school went. Last December, we had a rather frosty Christmas celebration at home on the farm in Moore, which was quickly followed by a three-day stay on our Retreat property near Ledge Point, to allow me time to rest and relax after three days on the family farm. During the mid-year holidays in late June & early July, not only I but Hugh as well, had travelled to Canada, to spend nearly tw

After a short stop in town to have some lunch, after a 2 ½ hour journey back down the coastal road, we finally arrived at the property, and once again Gran pushed the remote button as we approached the gate, and a few minutes later, we arrived on site, with Gramps driving around the side of the complex and driving through the access tunnel into the main Shed Complex. “Wow!” was all that I could say, as Gramps turned towards the larger sheds, stopped and reversed towards the smaller shed, wh

I had spent an hour before dinner looking into these research points, and I wanted to do more but I was called to dinner, and afterwards, I had a shower and homework to complete. By the time I had finished that, it was late and I had to get some sleep. The following morning, after attending to the horses, I had a quick shower, then had breakfast, before gathering everything I needed for school, reluctantly leaving behind the information that Gramps had given me yesterday. “What have you bee

On our fourth day in Paris, while we were eating breakfast, I informed the guys that we needed to pack up and check out, as we had a train to catch at 0930 hours. When they asked me where we were going now, I just smiled and ignored their question, much to their annoyance. After breakfast, we quickly packed up our luggage and checked out of the hotel, before catching a taxi to the main train station, and once there, I handed everyone their tickets. “Hey, what does TGV mean?” Aaron asked me

Not far down the road we slowed and stopped when we reached a double gate across the road, with a big sign – ‘No Entry – Private Property’. “Ok, so all the land on the South side of the road, from the highway to this point, is an additional property we purchased, and it is a little larger than the two other properties combined, being 1,710 acres, where the other two are only 1,132 acres in total,” Gramps announced. “Wow. Does this property connect up to the other property?” I asked, “Unfort

“How dare you speak to me that way, I am your mother, show me some respect,” my mother said in a loud voice, which made me stagger back to the vehicle. “Selena, you are clearly not thinking of what is best for Oscar’s health and well-being, so we will not be staying here this weekend, tell Myles that I will give him a call later this evening, to discuss more permanent arrangements for Oscar’s future,” Gramps said to Mum, as Gran guided me back into the vehicle and I secured my seatbelt, before c

As we had finished washing down the kayaks, I turned to Marcus. “I have enjoyed today, I would like to ask your folks for permission to come here again soon, if that is alright with them?” I asked, “I think that will be fine, we don’t own the property anymore, we had to sell up because some of Dad’s investments went downhill, thankfully the new owners have allowed us to remain here renting for as long as we need to stay, which my parents want to be till after I have finished high school at least
