A compacted gravel and concrete road had been established from the new gate, to provide all-weather access to the new area, and was now ready for the trucks to deliver the huts to be fitted around the raised platforms. The arrival of huts was planned to arrive in groups of four each day, to allow time to get each hut properly in place before the next truck arrived the following day. I had already had plumbing and electrical teams on the property, getting each area ready to be connected, and I ha

“Well, you won’t have to worry about those two men anymore. Although they were wounded, they managed to break away from the soldiers before they ran into the river, and you can guess what happened next,” Mark said to me, “Oh man, that would not have been a pretty sight to see,” I commented, “Yeah, I'm going to have nightmares for some time having witnessed that… I want to thank you for what you did, you saved my life. I will never forget that” Mark responded as he gave me a short hug. Later

“Just one day sir, and even then I was bombarded with missed calls and text messages for not being on base when I did have 3 hours of off base leave granted to me, and I have… just under two weeks remaining sir,” I replied. “I see, and have you had any more threats from these bad men that have been chasing after and threatening you?” the Brigadier asked me, “No sir,” I replied. “Good to hear. Right now, Colonel, I am ordering Captain Kenrick to begin his separation process right away, and

“Just to let you know, I have put in my resignation from the Army, effective from the end of my term of service which is just ten weeks away. That message and my call back… I have been ordered back to work for the remaining two weeks of my service, so you will be on your own for that time,” I informed Mark. “Oh!” I was hoping to be spoiling you rotten with some home-cooked meals,” Mark said to me. “They are sending a vehicle to come and collect me, from the gate at the junction, in two hour

I had completed the strengthening and cleaned it all up before the lads returned with two large Barramundi fish, which Mark said he would be cooking for lunch, which sounded wonderful. Now that I had submitted my resignation to the Army to happen at the end of my term of service, I started to wonder what I should do once I am officially out of the Army in just over two months. I started to do some research on a few ideas, and eventually, I found a website for a hovercraft manufacturing comp

“You guys are so naughty but also entertaining, thanks for that, as I did really enjoy seeing that barmaid squirm when you guys embraced and kissed,” I said to the lads, as I followed them out the door, and stopped just outside the tavern they kissed again. “Ok guys, get a room will ya,” someone called out from the darkness of the car park, which made me chuckle. While I headed to my vehicle, Sawney followed Mark to his, as I suspected he would, and they followed behind as we headed back t

A few minutes later I was in the Station office and on the telephone, “This is Captain Struan Kedrick, I need to speak to the CO right away please CSM,” I said when the call was answered, and after a short time, I heard the Major’s voice and I explained everything to him about my current train trip, and he was already aware of the event four years ago, so he knew right away the situation was serious, and I suggested an extraction from Mount Bundy Station via the Adelaide River. I was instru

“This is Struan Kenrick speaking, please call me as soon as possible, as it is extremely urgent, I am a passenger on the Ghan heading for Darwin, along with my brother Sawney, and we have just sighted the two men responsible for stabbing my brother on the Indian Pacific four years ago, and who were the gem robbers from South Australia. Please call me on this number urgently,” I said leaving the message, before ending the call, just as Mark and Sawney approached. Unfortunately, I received no

“What is the emergency code for a major incident on the train?” I asked the shocked steward. “It’s, Mr Mahoney to the Train Manager's office” the steward replied, and I pulled out a handkerchief from my pocket, pressed down the speak button on the PA system, and I calmly made the call. Once this was done, I carefully retrieved the manager's keys, and I closed and locked the door. “Now my dear, you have had an awful shock, so I suggest that you go to where ever you staff rest and take a

A continuing story of Struan Kenrick, as he continues his life in the Army, making the occasional trip home to visit his brothers, and taking another train trip with his youngest brother Sawney, this time on the "Ghan", heading north to Darwin, where once again trouble follows them...

For the next few years, I was kept very busy with my duties as a Captain in the Australian Army, which included two months in the Pacific, with disaster relief work at two island nations, plus nine months of additional training in Transport and Distribution Management, which earned me a Graduate Diploma, at Canberra. I managed to get home to Poondindie every second year in that time, both times I stayed with my younger brother - Sawney at Todd River Farm, and we managed to get down to the pubs i

I have not heard that it was a book, but i just saw the movie and really enjoyed it alot. I highly recommend it as a movie worth seeing. Two interesting points about the two lead actors from the research i have done. 1. Both actors are straight. 2. The Actor that plays the prince is actually real royalty from Russia, (checkout the link below) although his parents are British and Greek. Nicholas Galitzine (London, 1994-) the son of Prince Geoffrey Galitzine and Lora (née Papayanni),[34][35] an actor and musician https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Golitsyn

Thats the end of that series, now working on book two of a much older story.

The following morning, our first at the station, while seated at the table eating breakfast, I could see that Douglas and Fraser were thinking, and I was guessing it had something to do with yesterday’s conversation about the research facility. “Err, we have been thinking, and we are wondering if this research facility that you were talking about yesterday evening, has anything to do with a corporation that owns a couple of ginormous research submarines?” Fraser asked us, and I chuckled while Jo

For the next forty minutes or so, we unloaded the Ute and the trailer, with the new quad bike placed in the garage, and all of the new white goods were put into their new places, with the older ones moved out and placed on the verandah temporarily. Once completed, we sat down at the kitchen table and had a cup of tea. “Now lads, tell me a bit about yourselves if you don’t mind, as I have not been updated on much about the station and its staff,” I asked, and for the next twenty minutes, we

I learnt from Dad, that the current Station managers at Exmouth Gulf Station would not be staying on to continue working there, so the family would be starting to search for a replacement management team to run that station, which is located 50 kilometres South of Exmouth, with most of the station on the East side of the Exmouth road from Minilya to Exmouth, and is just over 228 thousand acres in area, with the station homestead located 4.5 kilometres east of the main road, and about the same di

After having another look at our new quarters and the main living area again, we returned to the boat which took us back to the yacht, where we sat down to discuss the planning of relocating to Misery Island and agreed that the sooner we do the move the better so that the ship can be sent away from the region. When Sandra and her kids arrived back from their day trip to the islands, we all sat down for lunch. “Are you sure about all of this Xander, about giving us the Bungalow on West Islan

“Hello, I am Captain Paul, and this is my 1st Officer James, welcome onboard the Southern Explorer” we heard Captain Paul say to the first arrivals on the beach deck. “Hi, I am Sandra, and these are my children – Henry aged 13, Toby aged 11, Susan aged 9 and Jessica aged 7, and our skipper is Oliver Pearson,” the lady said in response, as our butlers started handing out soup to them, and the stewards wrapped blankets around their shoulders. “Please come upstairs and inside, out of this cold air,

I was amazed at how big the suite that we are assigned, with the views from the lounge area… Wow! After settling into our suite, Joshua and I entered the Storm Lounge on that same level, which is one deck down from the Bridge Deck, and although it is called D Deck, it is actually the second-highest deck on this super yacht or ship, I was not sure what it was really, just that it is huge. “How are you both settling into your quarters?” Xander asked as we approached the seating area that look
