“There are more of them?” Dean asked, “Yes, you remember those two sailors who jumped ship, well it appears that they were animal smugglers, and when they jumped ship they brought a large collection of birds and lizards with them, so far all we have see are Iguanas, and there are about twelve species of lorikeets and parrots, that have made our jungle garden their home,” Uncle James explained. “Oh wow, can we see them please?” Declan asked, “Go on boys, go and show them our little hideaway a

“Oh; and why is that?” Uncle James asked sounding a little surprised, “Because I have a letter from your ex husband, who asked that this be passed onto you,” Mr Hunter said as he handed over an envelope, which Uncle James opened and pulled out a card. “I am sorry our relationship did not last, I hope that we can remain friends. The sale of the house in Darwin resulted in a bigger return, so I bought you this as a small share of the money of the house. Regards Tim,” Uncle James said as he rea

One day when we arrived at the community centre after school, we were surprised to see Uncle James there, talking quietly to Tim. “Hey boys, how has school and home life been going?” Uncle asked us, after not seeing us for a week. “Good Uncle James, where is the yacht, I didn’t see it in the bay?” Toby replied, “No, and it isn’t at the boat ramp or at the home jetty, it is still in Cullen Bay, I managed to catch the ferry over here, while the crew and medical team prepare for the next trip i

I took one careful step forward, and right away the bird flew and landed on my arm. I was so shocked that I stopped still, as the bird began to feast of the fruit on the plate in my hands. “Stay still and quiet,” Tim whispered to me. “It is beautiful,” Toby said softly eyes wide in wonderment. “That she is,” Uncle James replied. “Do we have any bird mix in the store?” Tim asked, and Uncle James shrugged his shoulders, “One she has gone, I will make a trip into town, and if there isn’t any, I

Closing the store early on the Wednesday afternoon as usual, Angela and Tracy set off in the yacht to do a supply run to Darwin, with everything pr-ordered and had been arranged to be delivered to Cullen Bay, so they could load up and get back to Dundee before dark, and Tim went into town to help them with unloading and stacking the shelves for half the night. Just counting all the booked out accommodation villas and units that the town has, we would have at least 70 to 80 visitors coming to

“Hey boys, well the yacht is still anchored offshore, so if you want to go there, I will call the lads and they can take you over there and keep an eye on you both,” Angela responded, and we agreed to the idea. Minutes later, Dean and Lance were taking us to the yacht, in the sports boat, and pleased to be in a familiar environment, we headed for the upper lounge to watch a movie on the large television. When Uncle James arrived on the yacht, along with Angela and Declan, we set sail for

“Hello you have Tim Hope and you are on loud speaker,” Tim said when he answered the call, “Hey Tim, this is Joshua Eccleston at the Sandpalms Roadhouse, you are not going to believe this till you see it, but we have a convoy heading your way, I have counted 40 so far and still counting,” the caller said. Tim and Uncle James laughed, “Well I be, they must have been all lined up at the intersection waiting for the bridge to open, I will let the others know, thanks for the call, bye,” Tim said

Mr Hope has offered to charter the Mandorah Ferry to transport all the community members here and back, allowing all property owners the chance to inspect what damage there is to their own properties and to allow them to inspect the new facilities,” Ms Anders announced. “Madam Chair, we are just two weeks away from completing two of the light industrial sheds, and the medical clinic, can we delay it until they are completed and I have settled into my new facilities,” Uncle James suggested,

“Six property owners, who are in that area I specified, came forward, wishing to sell their blocks to us, so we have 4 more adjoining our existing purchases, plus the two large blocks on the north end of Namarada Drive. I think the two large blocks will be used to provide accommodation, while the other four along with two more existing blocks, will be turned into a jungle park for the community, with raised boardwalks, dry and wet creek beds, and some ponds, and maybe a gazebo or two,” Tim

Five days later, with all roads in the community clear of fallen trees and rubbish, the yacht set off for Darwin after collecting Mr & Mrs Harcourt, Ms Anders and Mr & Mrs Long, who would be staying overnight with us on the yacht and we arrived at Cullen Bay in Darwin at 1 pm. For the rest of the afternoon, Toby and I remained on the yacht, while Uncle James and Tim were busy with a number of things, and our five guests went into town to do some shopping. After a very early dinn

With the four blocks fronting the south side of Namarada Drive, there will be one or two sheds, with six parking bays on each block, as well as the usual 40 metres of trees and shrubs between the car park and the main street and these buildings will be available for small businesses to lease. The three blocks that together have three street facings, will become a public pool, with it to be entirely covered with a shed roof, with only one side wall, and just tall fencing on the other side and

Once breakfast was over, we climbed into the Land Rover and drove into town, where everyone was busy with the cleanup process, and once Toby and I had settled into our classroom to do some school work, Tim and Uncle James headed off to help, with Dean and Lance already out working. Everyone returned to the yacht for lunch, which was served on the main deck outside dining area, as most people are fairly grubby, the women who have remained on the yacht to help out on board, dined separately in

“Angela’s partner and our chef is Tracy Archer, the two young men are our deckhands Lance and Dean Tompkins, who are first cousins, and explains why they look so much alike, the other young man is Declan Sengler, who is the galley hand and steward, we did have two stewards, but they left us suddenly in Darwin a few days back. Is that it? Have I forgotten anyone? Oh yes, the two boys are James’s nephew, and he is their guardian since their parents were killed in a car accident last year, their na

I told Toby what Uncle James had said, and we retrieved the heavy steel bars and carried them out to the balcony and closed the one double window, from the kitchen, and closed and locked the two doors to the verandah, before doing the same to the balcony, which has three windows. Once we had secured the living area windows, we wondered about our rooms, so we headed upstairs. I was a little uncertain what to do with securing the windows, until a click noise sounded and the storm shutters aut

“Did you remind the crew that we are setting off at 8 am tomorrow morning, when you had the chat with them earlier?” Uncle James asked Tim. “I did, and they were not too pleased on missing out on another party night, when I asked them to back on board no later than 10 pm,” Tim replied. “Morning all,” Mrs Quinn said when she entered the dining room, but she didn’t appear to be her same bubbly left, “Is everything ok?” Uncle James asked her, “Yes Dr, just had some family news, and I since we a

After lunch, as we neared Darwin, with our arrival time just three hours away, Tim and Uncle James asked Toby and I to come with them to their suite for a chat. “Are we in trouble for something?” Toby asked sounding worried, and Tim just laughed, “No, not at all, we just need to have a family chat, that is all,” Tim responded as we made our way upstairs. “Ok, Tim and I have had some lengthy discussions, not just between us, but also with the yacht’s senior crew. When we get home to Darwin, t

“Holy Chr… Um, I think we are going to have to make some additional arrangements, as there are far more than 25 here,” Angela commented. “Agreed lets head down and see what we can do,” Tim responded, “Boys, stay on this deck please,” Uncle James said to us as he followed. A few minutes later over the intercom, “Deckhands and stewards report to the Aft Main deck right away,” we heard Angela say. Heading back out to the helipad to see what is happening, we saw all the crew including Mrs Quinn

“Good morning, all. Uncle, where are we located now?” I said as I entered and sat down next to Tim, “Morning Reid, when I checked about ten minutes ago, we are 148 km’s due north of Maningrida, which is 310 kilometres east of where we last changed directions last night,” Tim replied. Declan entered the room and he walked directly to Tim, and handed him a sheet of paper before leaving again, and after reading what was on the sheet, he laughed. “It appears we have hit the front page of the NT

While Mrs Andrews headed off to explore more of the Island, with the local tour group, Toby and I headed to the upper lounge, where I continued to practice what Mrs Andrews had taught me earlier in the day. “I’m bored, lets watch a movie on the television,” Toby said to me after half an hour of my practicing, and agreeing with him we settled down to watch a movie. We had only been at Milikapiti for just over two hours, when the engines of the yacht suddenly started up. “Captain to Dr Shaw,
