I reckon you were too excited at the time. Yeah, "Finding Refuge" got me started on westerns. I remember thinking a western wasn't going to get much attention on a gay site, but readers showed me I was wrong. It did garner some interest, and that helped when I was making the decision to write "Sidewinder", my pandemic escape. This journey was fun and rewarding, and I love that you are reading it again.

Woot! A party in the Old West!

Wow. Thank you, Dan, for the glowing praise for "Morningstar: The Malaise". It really was a labor of love for me... love for this magical world and its wonderful characters, and for the readers who interacted with me chapter after chapter. 4117. I didn't realize there were that many comments. I've said it many times, writing is hard work, but we writers are lucky when we create something readers respond to. It makes the long hours and the aching joints and pounding head and bleary eyes worth it. I'm so pleased you enjoyed the experience, and I really really hope you will put at least some of this fantastic comment in the review section so others might be convinced t give Morningstar a shot. Just a few words about the character development alone will stir new interest, and I would be thankful for the boost. It's been a real pleasure, Dan. I got lost in the chapters right along with you. Y'all are crazy, but I love it! Found the two missing kittens alive and well. Mama cat is sneaky. They have eye infections so I put antibiotic drops in. Otherwise they all seem to be doing well. Tried calling the white one Falkortwo but it didn't feel right so I've named him Chilli... it fits cause he's feisty and he's mostly the color of snow... he has some orange around his ears I didn't notice before.

This was a bittersweet chapter for me because it was so close to the end of the story. In fact, it was going to be a much longer final chapter, but when I sent it to my editor @Timothy M. , he suggested I cut in two because of the length, and he was right. I'd thought having that really long chapter for the final one would be fitting as the wrap up, but splitting it up gave readers more time to absorb what they were reading. It also allowed me to put something back in that I had decided to take out of the final chapter (because of that length)... it was a small part of it, but it really did belong in the story. Fendral had much to say, and I'm pleased you found it wonderful to have his perspective. Only he knew Esther's connection to the prophecy, as it was always meant to be a closely guarded secret. He learned some stuff he needed as well, so it was illuminating for grandfather and grandson both. I love this chapter... and I love what follows. For sure Kellar's head is spinning right now. Despite the gravity of it all, he has a memory of his mother's face and her voice to hold onto, and photos to be perused and stories about her to be heard. And yes, there is undeniable beauty in learning Morningstar is his home... by birth. The shifter who never had a pack now knows he always did have one. This kind of closure is something he will consider as Kellar is prone to do, but he has what he needed most, and I am so pleased to have given this to him. One of my most satisfying chapters, and it seems like it took forever to get here. It was a celebratory posting for this excited author. Thanks, Dan.

Miss Sybil the seer is such a treasured and integral part of this story and she has come through her pack after years of diminished capabilities. It didn't make her any less special, but we can't understate how important this vision was. It tied up a lot of loose ends in Kellars life, as well as the pack's. They have an Alpha if our reluctant hero can reach a point of acceptance. If not, they have a healer who is home... really home. Needless to say, I enjoyed giving him that, and truly love this chapter. Thanks, my dear friend.
