    Chapter 1

I got lost in the sweetest nostalgia present in your remarkable offering. That blue speckled ladle could have been the one I used a zillion times as a child of the woods of New Brunswick. I too hid amidst blueberries and daydreamed of a life unburdened by my fears. Each year, the ditch in front of our tiny house was filled with that finger-staining sweet fruit. As always, your nature poems have elements of our hearts in them... places where we dreamed of another, wishing and hoping and aching for that which was missing, or for that which we desire. Sometimes it is melancholic, but in the most beautiful way. Springs and streams and ponds, frogs hiding in cattails, trees that towered over me, my family's farm across the road, giant granite boulders and stone walls, the sweet smells of lilac, and hidden treasures of sustenance found... were all the anchors of my childhood... when and where I learned the beauty of solitude, and found those tantalizing moments of an elusive peace. Thank you for giving us this journey, Parker. I could picture my grandparents (my grandmother sitting in her rocker by the window too) just as I could picture yours. "when I belonged to that new green world before necessity bade me leave." These lines are incredibly powerful to me... I experienced that loss deeply, and am forever thankful that while my youth is gone, I have my green world back. Cheers, my friend. You once again show your mastery of poetry, and the exquisite power of the medium. G.
  2. Pffft. I don't need lines.
  3. Heard a noise in the woods on my walk, so I rang the school bell I carry in my pack, and there was a crashing sound and splashing... something running through some wetland. Could have been a bear, or maybe a deer, but I think it was a bear... too much noise for a deer... they are usually pretty quiet.
  4. As if. You're the one I was talking about, puddin'
  5. Heading out for my walk now. Try to behave...
  6. Hey, Mancunian! It will be twenty at the start of the week... tee shirt weather, and that is exciting.
  7. Another sunny day... 4C at the moment... tomorrow will be warmer. Have a great day/evening, all.
  8. Happy Birthday, Puddin'
  9. I had a surprise visit from my younger daughter, and we had a great 3K walk in the sunshine. She stayed all day and we had supper together... crock pot pot roast. I'm all talked out... my mare had some trouble getting up today, but she rallied. Life is good. Going back out to the barn to check on her now and feed her her snack. Thanks for the entertainment.
  10. We should tell @Mancunian the Drewth is the opposite of truth.
  11. Time to clean the stall and go for my walk.
  12. ... who has covered the world in glitter...
  13. Yeah, we're good at those. You're welcome.
  14. And she doesn't speak Drewth.
  15. Are you saying Drew is charming? Okay... yeah... maybe a little.
  16. Sunny day here, but only a projected high of 3C. Going to really warm up by Monday.
  17. Happy Easter Weekend, all!
  18. Definitely friendly, and a little wackadoodle.
