  1. Thanks lux! It's really all moving as we might expect. The Burch suppression seems to be the key, but will it open a roadmap for David or Pandora's box? That is the worry we all have. tick.tick.tick.
  2. Thank you Emi! Yes, our young hero, David, is on a torturous journey of self-discovery. This was a very emotional moment in his journey.

    Eyes

Thanks Emi! Eyes always provide such rich poetic possibilities, don't they?
  4. Happy for David that he might get his job back. It will do wonders for him and his self-esteem. But wow, the David/Mike relationship seems to be headed for disaster. For an established relationship and one where the previous chapter exposed a different side of Mike, David seems to be the one possibly causing the problems. He's simply not devoting himself to Mike or the relationship. Well, that's what it appears to be from my perspective as a reader. This seems like a disaster in slow motion. I makes me sad.
  5. The mere attempt to examine my own confusion would consume volumes - James Agee *** Last night’s dream was back to Burch and fishes again. The good news was I didn’t wake up with cum in my boxers. Certainly not with Burch anywhere around. The even-more good news was that I wasn’t frightened. I did not wake up screaming, only a little earlier than usual. Somehow I knew, in this dream, he was no threat. Maybe it was because he had no contact with me in this particular vision and the
  6. Thank you, jess! "...ever-more-convoluted state of mind." Our David?? And why would you think the black Caddy implies Uncle John? Maybe Gary called Uber? I don't think Mike and Alan are looking at next Saturday as an innocent visit and I don't expect Maryellen to be invited.
  7. Thank you, Dayne. Your take on the kiss with Randy is pretty accurate, I think. That kiss started a cascade of thought--let's see if it leads to action. Oh look, we won't have to wait any longer than Ch105!
  8. Thank you, CG! Ah yes, David and Alex. You're right about what the breakup would mean to his self-denial. But you may just be a little wrong about how soon it will happen.
  9. Thank you, lux! What you say about David's behavior is true. He seems to be at war with himself, actually. We think we know why. And we think we know it'll be difficult for him to actually see it. This little war also seems to be sapping the energy he needs to help his friend Twoey.
  10. What Dayne said. I too was struck by your use of the bleak (lost, out-of-place, desperate and alone) section of the evening. Out of place, and out of luck. This was book-ended by the Adam/Kevin sex scene on one side and the Adam/Formal scene where Becker pretends to be who he's not. It isn't surprising this lead to his devastating introspection. Will the Sophomore year resolve these issues? We'll be watching.

    Chapter 4

This is a fine story, Ron! The boors, the political 'situation,' Dorian's friends and the prospect of pending 'investigative' reporters sets up a huge and staggering stage for this tale. Well written and well done! I look forward to each chapter!
  12. Thans Lisa! I think the 'something' David saw was the lust of those two--especially the unleashed Chuck, The REAL Randy talk will be a big step for David. It'll take a lot of big steps for him to break through that block in his subconscious, which is preventing him from seeing the more-than-obvious.
  13. Thanks Lisa! Danny was a surprise, but if David is going to survive these last days, only Danny will be able to help him navigate those dangerous waters. I wonder how Danny and Chuck would have acted with each other, if they had known.
  14. Thanks Lisa! I think you're right about the fact Erik will steer him away from David. In fact, he probably as been subtly responsible for the growing disconnect. Jealousy or domination?
  15. Thanks spikey! Yes. David (unconsciously) delays anything related to coming to grips with his underlying issue. He's pretty good at that. By now you know his friends did reach out to him, and it made him angry they did. Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad. Donny will finally appear in the flesh, if you'll pardon the expression, in chapter 105. I agree that David's musings are growing darker.
  16. Thanks CG! It was about the normal length for "18 Weeks." You're right about the real cause being Burch and not indoctrination, but David doesn't consciously know this yet. And you're right again that it will jolt him to his core when that happens. It is trying to break out though, hence the head pains.
  17. Thanks Parker! Yes, David seems adept at expressing himself to non-humans. Birds, lakes and those citizens of Meditania. Tommy is never far from his thoughts.
  18. Thanks mg! David's concern about his brother does, in fact, affect critical moments of the story.
  19. Thanks jess! Of course David resorts to working it out on his own, did you expect any different? By now you know how his friends reacted and it pissed him off big time. Donny graces us, and David, in 105--literally and figuratively.
  20. Thanks Hunter, Probably the only thing keeping David from reality, right now, is that little hidden nugget involving Burch and the young David. Much as he understands what he has to do, that is acting as a distorting lens for his entire outlook.
  21. Thanks lux! I waited to reply to the reviews of this chapter until 104 was posted. As you can see, his friends DID, in fact, contact David, to his utter annoyance--again, as you noted, reinforcing his leaning toward isolation.
  22. If everybody minded their own business, the world would go around a great deal faster than it does. - Lewis Carroll *** There were certainly no confusing fantasy morphs this morning. I was zeroed in on Donny Nelson from first stroke to final explosion. I simply let my mind go where it wanted to, and it wanted Donny. I didn't even feel guilty about it. It's a whack-off fantasy for God sake. Why should this be more troubling than a female teen movie star? It’s all fantasy. I was

    Early April

Thanks Lisa! Thanks for your kind words about the opening scene. Gary HAS been rather nice and I think you're right that Toph is falling for him, big time. There's a lot of suspicion around here, but let's hope it doesn't actually work out that (bad) way. Toph could use a determined supporter.

    Chapter 13

Of course, Devin is only a freshman. He's been at school a couple of months. I think he was starting to paint the relationship he wanted. And that was good, but he should have realized it was the relationship he ultimately wanted that he was painting. To think you would find your soul-mate in the first few weeks as a freshman in a new school is just so immature--exactly as we would expect a freshman to think. So, what all this is trying to say is, let's enjoy the ride and not take things too seriously. Hopefully, Devin will slip into the same mindset. Interesting chapter btw

    Chapter 13

Well now that Denise is praying for her poor wandering-in-the-wilderness baby, I'm sure everything will work out. Jason will realize he's straight, after all, and will come back into the fold, after he walks the twelve step walk of atonement and redemption. And, in addition to all that holiness he'll wrap himself in, he got a clean apartment smelling of Pine Sol. How could things get any better?
