Thanks, Lux! Great comments, as usual. You might be misinterpreting Chuck's comment though. I read it as a sarcastic comparison to the more common reverse statement: 'when did you become gay?' Chuck has always been a little sassy.

Thanks, Lisa! Aw -- you know I don't kill off characters -- well, hardly ever. Chuck and Carl will be interesting to watch. Chuck is certainly not Danny but he is just enough to give Carl some needed comfort. And, of course, Chuck get's some solid support in return.

Thanks, Hunter! No, once Dad was out, it gave David the excuse he needed to be rid of the place where he was haunted by bad memories. Everything else was pretty understandable. But this story is all about Chuck!

Is this a cacodemon's morality play, Parker? It is really, really well delivered. And it's not gone unnoticed by me that Ted has been the only one with a name in this story -- so far. Is this done to make him the more "human" of the characters, although he seems to be the most inhumane? All great stuff, my friend. I look forward to the next canto.

Two sterling poem, Parker. The first, Stranger, began as riffs on the "who is the stranger I see in my mirror?" but added feeling and depth to that simple triviality, until -- that last line, which turned it all on its head. In Hiding is just superbly done -- every thought, every line. Bravo!

Thanks, Def! I didn't really start out to do this, you know. But Chuck can be pretty insistent, as you'll see when the story unfolds. So he kept badgering me and I caved in. What can I say? I hope you enjoy his moment in the sun.

Thanks, spikey! As you sot of guessed, this is Chuck's story and it will definitely not be real long. I'm still suffering PTSD from the 122 chapters! Hopefully Chuck will take us through some interesting moments, but he is clearly not as screwed up as David was -- thank God!

Thanks for stopping by, droughtquake! I too noticed we seem to be drawn to the same stories. In answer to your questions, you do NOT have to have read 18 Weeks first to enjoy The Valedictorian. (Although I hope you will find time for it in the future!) Anything you need to know will be explained in the story. It is not 18 Weeks, Part 2. Parker mentioned 'tangential' and most of my stories have a glancing relationship to each other. Just a little something to deepen the enjoyment for those who read them. I hope you stay with Chuck's story and enjoy it. It will NOT be enormously long. Whew!
