Thanks, Gary! I think you're spot-on in your analysis. The only two things unsettling, at this juncture, are whether Gary is attuned to Toph's needs and not something selfish, and what ever will Steve do. Of course, all will eventually be revealed.

Well, Kenny played Zac like a fiddle. He knew exactly what he was doing and knew exactly how is former friend would react. After all, they were close for a long time. I guess the next few days will show Zac what the contents of his Pandora's box were. Can't wait to find out.

Last paragraphs of chapter 2: I usually try to keep an even temper, but it’s not working today. I can actually feel myself tense up as we get to the table. But all that changes in one instant. Tom’s there with Barbie and tears are running down his face. I’ve never seen him like this and immediately my heart goes out to him. He’s sobbing. Well, has our predator-turned-prey learned his lesson yet? What will he say to his roommate? Will he be able to stay free, or is there more bad luck waiting for him? A great chapter, tim! It kept moving forward and upward -- too well -- and then the crash at the end. I'm figuring they, with their neighbors, will combine to take a stand. But there will be casualties. So I'm sort of dreading the next chapter since you're sensitive writing has made us already like all of these guys !

Thanks, Lisa! About j's initial -- you'll have to wait one more chapter. Obviously Toph never thought much about MaryBerry, or whatever her name was. I thinks Toph was more surprised that his family at how he began to get along with them. His father surprised him the most -- maybe he misread him when he was a 'mixed-up teen.'

Thanks, Lux! It's interesting to see Toph putting things in perspective. Even the confrontation with Mother was addressed, and then he moved on. It's unlikely that could have happened six or nine months before.
