Part One: Smells Like Paint Spirit
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Part One: Smells Like Paint Spirit
If you read the same stories I do, you'll see I also love theories when I'm vested in a story. I love your theories, and I made sure to reply to certain things you said in a very precise way for a reason. More vague hints. The story was actually written from beginning to end over a span of four years. When I realized that many of the things that ended up being Tyler's Dilemma were already spoiled earlier in the story, I got the idea to break it up into five bits and then to tell it in reverse to keep the big reveals intact. I'm rather proud of that idea; I'm sure better authors have done the same thing, but it got me excited like I invented sliced bread. That's wild. It felt like such a clear reference. I also try to choose my chapter titles with clear intention. Usually, there is a theme with my chapter titles, and with this one, this feels like a rip-off of that horrible song that came out in the early 90's. It's bothered me for over a year now. -

That was quite by accident. It wasn't until after I posted it that someone pointed that out and it was too late to change the title. -
Part One: Smells Like Paint Spirit
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Part One: Smells Like Paint Spirit
I know, now I'm banging with a dildo and hot tubs, bets about blowjobs and markers being shoved up people's asses. How the mighty have fallen! This is about the time when I explain my personal sense of humor and the sense of humor my characters have. Just consider my characters as unreliable narrators. My characters constantly go for the joke, and what they say might not always be true and accurate when surrounded by "parentheses". You will find the truth in the narrative and sometimes in the dialogue. So Brandon saying that there is dried cum on it might just be said to gross Tyler out. And as the reader, you'll need to remember that, especially when Brandon is speaking. If that wasn't made clear yet, I do address it in depth in later chapters. I think at this point in the conversation, Tyler is trying to puzzle out his new emotions. I'm not so sure he's lying to himself here. I wrote him as genuinely confused. This story has four distinct "dilemmas", the first being his sexuality. The other three will manifest it over time throughout the first part. By the end of part one, the reader knows all four dilemmas, whether or not the reader recognizes each one. You are correct in this statement. PS: I love your comments! Final PS: I'm sure you are aware of the connected world of Glacier Bay where a single story will be told over five main books. The Christmas Stories, while set in the same place and might have overlapping characters, is not a part of the main storyline. That main storyline, which begins with Tyler's Dilemma, tells a story of four people over a span of twenty-five years. It is also told in reverse. Tyler's Dilemma is the end of the story, and Midnight Sun is the last book I'll post, but it will also be the beginning of the story. Confused yet? . Right now, there are five books written with the main storyline. Two Christmas stories and three other standalone stories featuring some of the minor characters of the main storyline. All of these stories have been written, except Part Two of Tyler's Dilemma, which I am putting the finishing touches on as we speak. Since it is the conclusion, I have to be precise in the ending, or the other million words I've written won't connect together. It has been a passion project of mine for five years, and I can't wait to get everything posted so I can work on other stories that are in varying degrees of completion that are outside of Glacier Bay. Final Final PS: There is one character mentioned in Gabriel's Gambit that might also live in Glacier Bay, which makes Gabriel's Gambit a part of Glacier Bay Stories, though it's set in Pennsylvania. -
Part One: Questioning Everything
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Part One: Questioning Everything
Tyler might prove to you he's not the smartest of protagonists to come down the road. I never would have made that bet either. PS: Did I mention that almost all situations are ones that happened to either my friends or me? . And Tyler made him do it at a pool party in front of their friends. If you ask me, Tyler might have gotten off easily. Pun intended! They are as close as brothers; they might fight, but they never really mean most of what they say about or to each other. That is the fun of having a best friend. To watch them suffer for a while. There is a lot of speculation about the video and what it may or may not mean for the story moving forward. I shan't say one way or the other at this moment in time. Tyler is smart, not the smartest person in this story, but he's not stupid. Except for this, though, we go into further detail later on. His reasoning might be good, but boy oh boy does this start the story off with a bang. One boy banging senior citizens, the other boy letting who knows how old suck him off at a gloryhole, again, I had to be careful never to mention who the person was on the other side due to GA's policies. You can pretend it's whomever you wish. . I told you the original idea was to get them together quickly, they might have met earlier but...you'll see. -

Nope, nope, nope. If I were a good writer/righter, you would have understood what I meant. Which makes my contention that I suck at writing/righting! . true. As long as we all have a good time in the comments, it's all good. I just enjoy being silly! -

Tyler flounders for a while. And you'll never guess where he gets his grounding from. But that's in like thousands of words in the future. Talk about lots of things happen slowly, I got you covered. -

Not from lack of trying. but @Lee Wilson refuses to take my bait when I flirt with him. 😭 -
That's a little homage to Gross Pointe Blank, a fun little Independant movie from the 90's, I think. And as I look ahead, the next chapter doesn't have them on a date either. my own timeline is all messed up. I really need to stop adding things to a story thats been finished for almost two years.

Or someone.... . This seems to be growing concern with those readers continuing on with me. Let's hope Gabriel doesn't lose all focus in the next day and half. But considering the writer went out of his way to focus on the late bills, might mean something. Or it could be I was just trying to show how observant Gabriel is while being his charming self. Who knows which is which? You are correct, Gabriel, at this moment in the story, is oblivious that Homeland Security has him on the radar. Though he's been a wanted assassin without a name or face for years. They may only know him as Robert. Maybe. Well, if as @chris191070 would prefer, next time they have sex, he's going to have to explain his new cuts and bruises. He might not be able to break the lamp like he did the last time so Sean wouldn't see his scars. I can guarantee it does. Now to figure out what?

Part One: Questioning Everything
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Part One: Questioning Everything
No, being self-deprecating isn't the same as being humble. . I will say I am extremely great with building characters and pushing the narrative forward through dialogue. I have interesting characters, fun off the wall ideas that turns into silly scenes that people connect with. When I say I'm not a good writer, I mean that in a technical sense. I couldn't tell you why a sentence is structured right/write or not. Nor could I tell you why a sentence is structured wrong. Nor could I explain how to fix them. I still haven't figured out where to place commas and grammerly works overtime trying to get my shit readable. Full disclosure, I give up about a quarter of the way in and post them anyway. I can't get an editor to work with me so I do the best I can. Despite my lack of skill, I do think a certain section of people enjoy my silliness, or at least my sense of humor, which 99% of every comment I make is an attempt to do. I thank you for saying so, but I don't think that's possible as I believe I'm the best writer that ever lived! . Before anyone takes offense, read the last sentence I typed right up there, it's just jokes. -
I have a confession to make, though this upcoming lie is pointless as you already read chapter one but here is my lie, there is no Tyler in this story. Per se, as you never see Brandon and Tyler in the same place. They are one and the same, Brandon is just nuts and lives through Tyler. Owen, has a small part to play in the tale. He has a bigger part in Christmas In Glacier Bay, and a starring role in Captivated By Kai. So remember him and his ex-boyfriend. Not much to learn about his reasons in this story, but in Captivated By Kai, you'll get all the answers. Which, that story is 97% finished, but I got distracted by Frosted Hearts and then Gabriel's Gambit. GA has very strict rules about power and age dynamics. The original prologue went into great detail about their encounter, as it was based on my own experience going home with a 67 year old when I was seventeen. But to make sure the prologue was able to be posted, I had to remove the sex and then state plainly, the character in his voice, that he was eighteen. I might have given a few hints to let the reader know how old Brandon truly is, but in the entire story, I made sure to give ages to people except for him. All because Lee wanted the prologue to be included. . Long way to say, yes, he is. Brandon is a truly fun character to write/right. He is the first character I ever wrote where I felt like the dialogue came from somewhere else. In my original idea, Brandon was very much certain things. I won't get into that here to avoid spoilers, but his personality while writing/righting him changed all my plans which altered many other characters to come. As and when it's appropriate, and if you are still reading, I will drop those changes into your comments as you move deeper into this silly tale. I will give you a hint that no one who has currently read this story knows, this is an exclusive, this condition plays a major role into the story moving forward. And though it seems you are, I say little bits of info in my comments, so I'd read them if I were you. . You are so close to this becoming a reality. As I said for a while now, this first part is just the prelude to the story. It was supposed to be quick, because I need them to be together for the main plot to kick in. It took me twenty chapters to really get them together and I think in story time, only eight days passed. Lots of filler coming up, .

Only because I'm not sure if I ever address this, the Japanese were mad that Gabriel failed to make his assassination look like an accident when he threw the target out of the tall window. They demanded payback as well as compensation. I would suspect that Mehmet informed them where to find Gabriel. If we are keeping track, we have a mysterious shooter who may or may not be Frederick, two Yakuza, and maybe Homeland Security agents. Why is Gabriel going out with Sean again? As another commenter said, Gabriel isn't that good of an assassin if he keeps going on like this.
-
So if you think about that logically. Tom's already close to Gabriel and trusted. What would be the point of hiring someone to shoot at him, and then stop that attempt if he's already close to Gabriel. But who knows what can happen in this mixed up world Gabriel has himself involved with. I'm still not comfortable with that scene, I'll probably go back and re-write it. That was the addition I was referring to earlier. I felt this chapter needed some action instead of just about Mysterious Neon. But I'll fix it later.
-
You don't know the struggle when muse hits you, and it goes towards the left, and you just have to follow it.

Gabriel had a smile on his face when he ended the call. Though in his excitement of seeing Sean again, he had forgotten he had made dinner plans with Tom and his wife. He might tell himself the last thing he needed would be putting himself into such an amateur situation as flirting with Sean, he couldn’t wait to see him again. Even if it was just to stare into those amazing blue eyes and steal a kiss from those pouty lips. He made his way into the bedroom where he retrieved his dinner

Part One: Questioning Everything
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Part One: Questioning Everything
Tyler is beginning to confront things in himself he has either ignored or brushed away as "that's what boys do". His inner, for lack of a better term, Dilemma, is the basis of this entire story. There are four major dilemma's, you are experiencing the first one. . I cut my teeth on AOL chat rooms as well. I had no idea what I was doing but it was with other gay people and that was enough. -
Methinks instead of Queen Cassie, your nickname should be the Artful Dodger! .

Lynn Flewelling, The Nightrunner Series and Gay Sex
Jason Rimbaud replied to Dabeagle's topic in The Lounge
I think either men or women can write believable sex scenes. There are a few differences, on average, women tend to focus on emotional connection, while men focus more on the physical acts. I enjoy either if it is written well. The differences I can usually spot right away, even when a woman writes under a male name. Male and Female brains just work differently and it shows in the writing. And neither is better than the other, just different. It all comes down to whether or not the story is compelling with fun entertaining characters. -
Or if you smell like cigarettes, or hold up a finger whilst talking on the phone, or fails to disclose an earlier injury, or act or sound like Jason Rimbaud.

I didn't even think about the people in the asylum went? Today I was thinking why was the door marked Hazardous? When most people think Hazardous, they think toxic or harmful to humans. But this room teleported Malik to a strange new world/place/universe/timeline. Hopefully next chapter we'll get more insight into this strange world and if Malik starts it up with a lizard person. Though in my head he's a dom top, we shall see what happens.
-
So Malik saw two moons and realized wherever the hell he is, it's not in Chicago! As for our "lizards", you have made the names so hard to spell that I'm going to have a hard time with this story. And in this case, I blame you! Our lizards treated Malik a bit more charitably than humans might encounter an "alien" species. Yet we know in this world, there are tailless people there, so who knows what political landscape Malik is walking into. Going into the village to see the elders can never be a good thing. Our, for the moment, antagonist, Rhaelce, seems apt to find out what this creature is that invaded his territory. We shall learn more in the next chapters. Thus far, my theory from chapter one isn't looking too good, but there is a lot of time left for it to become true. Though Kangaroos have tails and so do lizards, Cassie might be pulling a switcheroo just to prove my theory false. If I see a sweater with a zipper down the back, I'm calling foul!!!
