Let's see if your theory is correct. . No spoilers. That is a hard time to deal with...

Fingers crossed that you enjoy this silly story.

Why the drive-by? And what gives you the right/write to assign homework? .

Josh gets kidnapped and you start the next chapter at langely? The bad words I have spoken in the last few minutes would make you clutch your pearls and run away. You're lucky I don't have time to articulate my thoughts as I have to go now. But I'll be back next week to finish this chapter.

If they truly turned a kid into some kind of encryption device, it must have been quite the reason. What were they scared of? To have three dedicated employees, cripple the CIA intelligence gathering office to run, why were they running? From whom were they running from? And how much danger is Josh currently in? Though if they did this to a sixteen year old, how fucked up were his "parents"?

The Sharp Edge of Elegance
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in The Sharp Edge of Elegance
Wow, can't believe how fast this week flew by. I'm back for my weekly dive into Encrypted. So here we are, a high society dinner, Josh dances with his brother, and when they are alone in the room, not a single scene of changing, nakedness, or boners. I'm so very disappointed in you Jeff. James caused "Dexter" to stir, and Josh stirred in his pants. (you won't do it I'll do it for you). Though James's family reminds me of my Aunt and Uncle, old world money and charm with a heavy dose of assholery. This was a fun chapter, but I found myself saying, I don't care about this, why is he part "Dexter", lets get to the good stuff. Though all of it is the good stuff. a great fun read that has kept me coming back all these weeks to find the next bit. -
You would think someone would get tired of me bringing it up and write it just to shut me up. that's my goal anyway.

Have I told you about the story idea about G I Ants that lives under San Francisco in the tunnels? .

The Sharp Edge of Elegance
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in The Sharp Edge of Elegance
You made him a bottom! How the fuck did he had muscle memory of being the girl whilst dancing? You have some explaining to do? You won't have sex in your stories but you'll feature brotherly love??? . Back to reading when I get a chance. -
Just because someone tells you to keep things secret, doesn't mean it's always the best idea. Abusers tell their victims to keep the secret all the time, for fear of being caught. So we can't trust the Doctor CIA dude. This will be the only time I bring this up, because it's a standard trope, and it drives me around the twist. Rich family, perfect family, loving family, I wouldn't trust the Kincaid's either. Kincaid has strong ties to Greg (FBI dude), just happened to be on a deserted highway in a place he wasn't even a state trooper to "discover" Josh. Maybe going back to make sure the job was done. Something shady is going on with Josh, and he's trying to navigate warnings and feelings and a bad ass living inside him. Oh, plus he's perfectly fine with random kids calling him brother. What kind of roller coaster ride have you brought us? Well, it's back to work for me, sadly I can't spend all day reading this story, though I'd like to. I'll catch up when I have some spare time on Monday.

We are at Black...the mystery deepens. The descriptions about his vision darkening around the edges, feels more like a program. Matter of fact, all the foreshadowing hints that two reside in one. But the fear of returning to where "dexter" began also hints at what's been done. Also the hints about this room doesn't look like a child was allowed to live makes me think it was more about "Dexter" than Josh. Josh might have been abused more than i thought. I'm off to work, I'll pick this up later this weekend, maybe if I have time.

Between Shadows and Light
Jason Rimbaud commented on Jeff Burton's story chapter in Between Shadows and Light
So brothers, who get along, looks like Josh might be in the right hands. From the writing, one thinks the "other me" is purposefully holding back the memory or knowledge. That's not how split personalities works, they don't talk to each other. This is something else if I'd have to guess. The plot goes deeper, there is a possible breach in the good guys, if the "other me" aka "Dexter" distrusts Federal, then they think it's compromised. He also seemed to recognize the photo of his "parents". Let's see where this goes tomorrow. I have work to do. -
The duality of Josh and his mysterious dark passenger (Dexter rules), I was right, it's like there are two of them. I don't want to get into Project Ultra, but just who is Josh? Was he trained and then reconditioned? Or did his brain injury cause him to split into two separate personalities? This reminds me of A Long Kiss Goodnight, a fun movie with Geena Davis, an assassin who was shot in the head and lost her memories, and then suddenly it returns and she has a husband, a kid, and a mission to fullfil. It's Friday, usually a busy day for restaurants so I can't read anymore today, but this is a great read and one I will continue on sometimes in the future.

By the way, Love this so far.

Yikes, this just kicked into another gear. Hmm, Josh was adopted by these two agents. They felt they had to flee, a second car chasing them. Josh dropped something; his "parents" died. Without a brain injury, loss of memory is a stretch. I'm too lazy to go back and see if he had a brain injury. I vaguely remember someone checking his pupils so he probably did. The mysteries deepen; he's not just a kid with no memory. Does he hold the key to unlock Cerberus? And what about the FBI with the same name as the police dude? Well, it's been a rough day and I'll have to come back to this when I have time. But it's a fun read for sure.

So reading through all these comments, the only thing that stands out is jeff doesn't respond to people who take the time to leave comments. You're a promising author now, you have to take the time to respond sir! So Josh is moving in with the perfect family. And my earlier theory, Adam is gay, nope, when the brother comes home from Christmas, he'll be sans boyfriend. Everyone keeps talking about how well he's recovering, so what's going on internally to have him heal faster? Though without a major spinal injury, he's not really faster than average; all his injuries were in his chest, right? So he'll be getting a really good Christmas miracle, hopefully, and starting his new life with the Kincaids. Not one of my names. So life is pretty busy, and I'll have to read this when I next get a chance, but I'm really enjoying this so far.

Really Jeff? A grown nurse flirting with an underage boy about already seeing him naked? What's wrong with you? So our mystery boy has a name. I'm glad that you named him after me, thank you. Though truth be told, I was never 16. So, feeling like his body isn't his, I'm not sure that is a result of the car accident. Since it was said clearly, he had no spinal trauma. Which means something else is going on. Full Disclosure, I read the reviews for this story, and someone let it slip the reason behind this. I shall keep that to myself until the point when its revealed. But, on face value, the mystery is compelling because his symptoms don't match his accident. As for being gay, weird way to let it out, he's sixteen, any home he'd be placed inside would last only two years anyway, but okay, I'll let that slide. Daniel, another one of my names, having a gay son (how much do you wanna bet his other son is also gay) is just...convenient. But since the conflict is figuring out who he is with no memories, it would have been really cool for him to date girls and then suddenly realize, I'm gay, that would have been lots of conflict and fun characters. . But who's the promising author here? Not me, that's for sure. Since I am very busy and can't binge this story, when I have time I'll happily go onto the next chapter! So far, it deserves all the love.

PS: Now I know why everyone raves about this story! It's super exciting.

So I haven't read this story...I read the first chapter upon first posting, and at that moment, I wasn't in the mood for a cerebral experience. I was almost reading nothing but comedy. And the thought of jumping into a mystery mindfuck was not something I wanted to tackle. But I am face deep into a different reading mindset, so I figured, Mr. Promising author, I'd dip my toe into this world of first-person craziness. And since you're a big shot now, I'm going to be harsher than I was when I read @CassieQ first story. The first two chapters are intense and engaging as our John Doe exists mostly in his subconscious. One could argue that there are two separate entities inside his brain, slowly giving him hints, like the sudden realization he's gay. It's visceral with several moments of emotional impact, especially in the other place when he finally escapes the car. Very strong writing and intriguing idea. Can you continue the momentum when the narrative finally begins? You started strong with a stream of consciousness. How will you handle it when you have to push the story forward through development, and the tricks of living in one head is over? A really strong start, and I can't binge this story as I have a very busy time right now, but I'll gladly go to chapter next.

No no no Malik! What are you new? They drugged your ass last night, you know better! He had a gnawing sense of panic in his stomach since last night, and mentally lining up the possibilities of the situation and analyzing them helped keep it at bay Because they drugged you! That's the sickening feeling! He had a sudden unsettling image of someone randomly appearing in the black vacuum of space, then decompressing and dying horribly. Sheesh, way to go to the furthest extreme. Going up against him would be a bad idea. Finally a wise decision. Don't fight the lizard people! And I love that he contemplated kicking the kid lizards ass. For a minute I was really mad when Selma walked in. But then I breathed a sigh of relief. We know there are machines on this world and the lizards avoid them. So we kind of have a plot moving forward with The Malik kind of having a purpose. The girl lizard wants to kill The Malik, which is probably the smartest thing. I want to get to the mountains, I hope The Malik learns quickly so he can steal one of the little ones, and go on his quest. So I do want to point out, that one of my theories came true. They have a slit in the pants for the their tales, if you squint, when I said a sweater with a zipper down the back could be used for pants with a zipper down the back! I'm batting a thousand!

So, I haven't read chapter three yet, I've been to busy trying to catch up with other threads and topics. But I'm sure when I do get around to reading the chapter, I'll have something less witty and thoughtful than you. As you beat me in just about everything...I'm accustomed to losing. PS The Artful Dodger rules!

Or I could mean I am over the parents not accepting you and kicking you out for plot reasons. I threw enough problems at Tyler's way, not having accepting parents was a bridge too far. -
Part One: Son, You Stink

Back sometime earlier, I told you that my original plan for Brandon was a certain way and he demanded certain changes to his character. Brandon being into watersports was something that just happened. Until then, I really didn't have any experience with that fetish and had no plan to include it in this story. One day I should tell you the time my husband came home and on our big screen TV was watersport porn. Another fetish I hadn't planned on. But sometimes things happen and you just have to go with the characters. His parents do seem to be his rock, it's what keeps him grounded and centered. He's going to need that. Plus, I didn't want the troupe of his parents not accepting him in 2023. This was a fun way to show their family dynamic, to push the narrative forward using humorous dialogue. This is a family that loves each other.
