@kbois Perhaps your boss has cognitive issues? Either that or he’s completely self-absorbed and the world only turns because he’s on it In any case, he sounds like the kind of person who could use a good shake to clear the cobwebs out of his noggin.

Okay, my turn to rant. Kind of... I have a new nemesis and thy name is Strawberry Oatmeal Bars. Why my nemesis you say? First time I made them, the baking pan was to big and the oatmeal was so thick, I found it hard to spread. Finally managed by switching to a smaller baking pan. Okay, in the end it worked out and tasted great. Second time today. Used a smaller baking pan, but the dried oatmeal I sprinkled on top didn’t bake in so well, so I tried knocking some off. Did I mention I use parchment paper, you know, the stuff that nothing sticks to? Can you guess what happened? That’s right, I had it tilted too much and it all fell out. Luckily, it all fell onto the clean cutting board. I dumped the lot into a storage container and broke up the bottom crust into small bits. Oh well, at least it looks good for breakfast in a bowl this week.

I’m sitting out front and the fox just ran across the lawn with noisy birds on his tail shooing him away. He sure is a beauty.

“Real” chick peas are something I can get from the grocery store. I’m pretty sure, that is.

I’ve never made them from scratch, but I could buy freshly made ones when I lived in Toronto, so I was content with that. Out here in the burbs, I might possibly find frozen ones, but fresh is unlikely. Maybe, it’s time to start making them myself.

There’s more searches for bad or brown jicama, but I found this for knowing if it’s good. When buying jicama, choose those that are firm, with smooth skin that's not cracked or bruised. It should look fresh, not dry or shriveled. Make sure there are no soft or wet spots on the jicama skin. Although jicama can be eaten at any stage of growth, the smaller ones have a sweeter, more appealing flavor.

One last thing, now that I’ve got the giggles under control. When all is said and done James and Faris’s love for each other is so strong and so deep, they can get through anything - even Faris’s forgetfulness - and come out on the other side intact and in love. Kudos to these two for seeing the bigger picture and for not sweating the small, and not so small, stuff. As always, well done, tim.

I still have my second cup of morning coffee. Thanks to the birds, I could have gotten up at 5:30 but I pushed through their choir practice and got a few more hours.

Won’t be getting one today, but someday a mandolin will be mine - I only just discovered them and think they’ve got to be a great gadget to have.

That’s something else. Cleaning up and taking away the debris they created should be part of their job description. Outdoor space is important, so enjoy it with your next cup of iced coffee.

I don’t think I’ll ever be in possession of 16 heads of garlic, but I’ve also never peeled and mashed actual garlic heads before. The freezer trick will be very helpful if I do. Thanks for sharing with the class, tim.

I think clippers only work well on shorter hair, though I could be wrong. I bought hair cutting scissors to do my bangs, but let the rest go. My hair is really thick and full of layers, so I don’t want to try cutting it.

@Mikiesboy Alice band: I never knew they have a name. And I get the where they got it from as it came to me while I was typing this post. Man bun/Alice band - hard no for both.

I complain because my short hair is now long enough for a decent-sized ponytail, but I really feel bad for men, because it’s obviously much harder for the majority. Personally, I’d go for the “give husband scissors” option because I abhor man buns, and I have no idea what an Alice band is. I mean, Mike is very trustworthy, right? I’m sure he could do a respectable job to keep the hair out of your eyes and off your shoulders.

We get them too, and sometimes they’ve gotten inside.

I started thinking after reading this as to what kind of cheese my mom uses when she makes lasagna. As I couldn’t remember, I asked her. She alternates layers of cottage cheese - two - with a layer of mozzarella along with the meat and noodle layers. No ricotta in sight. I have to say her lasagna is very creamy and very delicious.
