Never thought of using cottage cheese in eggs, it’s always been cheddar cheese for me. May need to experiment...
-
Cottage cheese has a very different taste when it’s puréed vs. when it’s lumpy. It’s been a while, but I was curious, so I tried it to see what it tastes like. This is me when it’s in its lumpy state:
-
That’s what got me thinking about this again. I’m going grocery shopping tomorrow, so I’m putting cottage cheese on my list.

One of the things I like as part of my lunch which I learned from a health conscious doctor I worked with years ago is this: Mix equal parts any flavour yogurt and puréed cottage together. I usually used a single serve yogurt with the same amount of cottage cheese. Why puréed cottage cheese you ask? Well, that’s how he did it, and besides I can’t abide cottage cheese in its normal lumpy state. I puréed the cottage cheese in my mini food processor and then put it all back in its original container. It kept well like that in the fridge for the days - probably used within a week - I needed it to. Not only is it nutritious, it’s delicious, refreshing, and filling. That’s my two cents for today.

Found and ordered. Someday, I may try making the bread, but for now I’ll try it on my granola cereal and/or refrigerator oatmeal. Thanks, tim. Reading the label, it looks to be a good source for a lot of good things.

Thanks, I didn’t know what they were, either. If one was to buy this in a grocery store, I’m thinking they would be found in the organic food section, yes?

Don’t laugh, my mom had an 8 track player in her car. Those were the days...

I’m reading these comments about playlists, and for some reason this one - which I loved when I was a kid - popped into my head. Anyone else remember this one?

Read an article about Paul Hogan today and one of the comments was about this line he uttered in Crocodile Dundee. Seeing this scene in my mind’s eye had me chuckling. For those of us old enough to remember, here it is. PS: Paul Hogan is 81 now. https://youtu.be/dSnosk4tWrg

Am I weird that I read this and had a vision of bell peppers dancing on your grave? Albeit, far, far, far in the future. You know when veggies are sentient beings...

Confidant - Word of the Day - Tue May 18, 2021

I read this word and it’s definition and the word confidante came to mind. Who knew? They can be used interchangeably. I learned more than planned today. Excellent word choice @Myr. -
Yep, that’s on my wish list. You’ve made me hungry, now. Good thing it’s almost dinner time.
-
That you do.
-
I don’t know when, but someday, I’m getting a cast iron frying pan, because well, I just want one. I think it would be a very useful item in the kitchen.
-
The one we had was quite large, so that’s probably the reason my parents didn’t keep it.
-
Sounds good. We no longer have a wok, but it should work on a smaller scale in my frying pan which has relatively high sides.
-
Sounds wonderfully delicious. Is there a usual sauce you use or do you vary it re flavour change?

Cabbage - Word of the Day - Mon May 17, 2021

I made deconstructed cabbage rolls on Saturday, so your choice of word today gave me pause. I always thought cabbage was just a vegetable... -
Deconstructed cabbage rolls. I like this.

The smell cooked kippers give off is the one thing I truly can’t stand. Thinking back to my childhood, I remember my mom having some for her dinner her being Scottish this is something she actually liked. I recall I nearly passed out from the smell alone, it was that horrendous.
-
I’ve been eating cabbage - in the form of cabbage rolls - from a very young age thanks to my grandma, so it’s something I never think about. As an adult I did start using shredded cabbage in place of lettuce in wraps and sandwiches.
-
Reading these posts I’ve learned a lot about bread making. I had no clue there were some important facts pertinent to making good bread. So yay to learning many new things tonight.
-
Totally yummy, yes. It’s still tasty with a good texture reheated after being frozen, which is great - I freeze it in single serving sizes.
-
Oh, I just looked at this recipe and saw a link at the top for cinnamon swirl apple bread. The choices are multiplying..

Im still enjoying the strawberry oatmeal bars I made, but I should try this one next. So many good choices...
