    Chapter 11

Richard is such a lucky guy to have been asked for a date with Randall. By now, Scott must be very frustrated and angry. He gets block each and every time he tries to harass Mark. As crazy as Scott is I fear that something tragic will happen. I do hope no one is seriously hurt. High school revenge can get deadly.

    Chapter 10

I hope Amy realizes how much she has hurt her brother. It sounds as if she has had an epiphany and is regretting what she did to their relationship. She needs to repair damage she had done to her mother also. Maybe she'll get a reduced sentence from the 3 years she built up. Richard seemed to be very sincere with his apology, very honest about being gay and courageous in telling Mark how Scott had used him. I love the new character, Randall. Big, black athlete who is gay and willing to help others. I hope he can find someone to love. The gang of misfits are all nice people, and will be a great support group for Bobby and Mark. Scott continues to get me angrier with each vile appearance he makes.

    Chapter 9

A cliffhanger with a not so adorable, evil little sister in trouble. Mark will race to her rescue with Bobby in tow. How will he leave school if she is off campus?

    Chapter 8

You gotta love a mom like Mark's mother. I hope the principal does a good job of investigating Scott. I also don't think Bobby is done yet. Scott did more than out him and sexually harass Bobby. Scott had forced Bobby into nonconsensual sex. Rape. This is an explosive situation. I agree that the parents need to get both boys enrolled in a martial arts class.

    Chapter 7

I personally think the parents should enroll both Mark and Bobby in martial arts programs so they can better defend themselves. Scott is up to his usually evil standards. Amy hasn't learned her lesson yet, bit_h that she is. I hope what she has done will somehow get back to her mother. Aunt Janice and Bobby's parents are going to make sure they will do their best to protect the boys. I still do not like Bobby's plan. It could backfire on both the boys. Who knows how Scott will react to having his background exposed. It could get very dangerous for the boys.

    Chapter 6

The Sex Talk is the bane of every teenager's life. I was impressed how sensitive and thoughtful Bobby's father approached the subject. The visit with Aunt Janice was also important to show the support of both families for these two teens. I think the boys have the right idea about keeping things on the same track. They will build a stronger foundation for their relationship by taking it slowly.
  7. Nice wake up for Ash's birthday! Meeting his new niece, Saguaro, went well. Ash was able to tease that he'd give up his best uncle title to Cove just one time. It seemed good at that point. The ensuing conversation with his parents was not so good. Cove is right. What happened two decades before when Ash first came out has not been resolved. Cove's advice to talk it out needs to be taken by Ash. I think this is the main problem Ash has for not committing to a relationship. His parents have moved on, but Ash hasn't.

    Chapter 5

Bobby and Mark's first kiss will be remembered even when the get old. I like that they both have loving and accepting families. Their parents seem to be rushing things faster than the two young men. Mark seems to want to protect Amy even after all she has done and is doing to him. I think Scott is confused and has many issues to deal with, but it doesn't justify what he has done to Mark and Bobby. The word for what he did to Bobby is rape. I understand the desire of the boys for revenge, but I don't like the idea of them stooping to Scott and Amy's level.

    Chapter 4

I'm with the stop sex plus pay me back the money you bit_h! Scott is definitely a mental case.

    Chapter 3

Bobby is also a victim of Scott's hate. Why does he target gay teens? I like how Mark has befriended Bobby and the way the interact was fun and special. I hope something develops with these two.

    Chapter 2

I am not sure why Mark's mom reacted the way she did considering how she helped Aunt Janice. I am glad the Mark's aunt is a very supporting adult who wants to help him. I do hope that at least part of the punishment Amy gets is to pay back to Mark all the blackmail money she collected from Mark. I also hope that Mark's mother will explain to him her reaction, apologize and tell Mr. Olsteen Mark's side of the story. Bobby is a question mark at this point.

    Chapter 1

Mark is not in a good place with either his sister or the new guy Scott. I dislike both of these two manipulative, cruel characters. It is doubly unfair if Mark's mother is as biased towards his sister as Mark thinks.
  13. I enjoyed this tale of young love and the problems of coming out. Gary's hopes for love are shattered by his best friend Shaun. How Gary deals with this is a simple but beautiful love story that highlights Gary's strength and compassion. Gary's mom, the Her in the title, is a beautifully portrayed hero with a great sense of humor she uses to diffuse difficult situations. Simply a very good first novella by a very talented writer, Apple of Her Eye features many of the strengths Ronyx built upon in later works. I gave it 5 stars after considering it was his first work, but honestly he now writes much more elegant, complex and thoughtful novels. Consider this as a historical view of his writing. It is a very worthy story and I recommend you read it.

    Chapter 12

I loved this story and was happy to see where you started your career in writing. It is a good story that highlights many of the strengths you had at the beginning. It also shows how great a writer you have become.

    Chapter 11

I was interesting to find out what Shaun was thinking when he rejected then outed Gary. Gary is forgiving and will accept Shaun back as a friend. Shaun is going to have to change a lot more before he can be a close friend to both Gary and Todd.

    Chapter 10

I don't know what Shaun's problem is, but hope he saw how Josh and the other teammates stood up for Gary. Maybe he will have to re-examine his own attitudes. I think that Josh will make a very good big brother for Gary.

    Chapter 9

Gary isn't ready for The Talk, but mom is. I like the way mom easily diffuses the situation with humor and understanding. Gary doesn't have a chance to resist her honest and up front presentation. I think she should start an adult education class teacher parents how to communicate with their teens. Another great chapter.

    Chapter 8

Instinct and peer approval resulted in a big problem for Josh. His family and he want to be honest is spite of the hit to Josh's future. I don't think Josh is a bully, but he does need to pick better friends. I do hope another punishment like community service will be found for the usual suspensions. As a retired teacher I can sincerely say that one punishment fits all crimes in most cases more harmful than helpful. Intelligence and a punishment tailored to Josh's offense would do more good than harm to Josh, and could have a more positive affect on the students in the school. Gary and Todd are cute together. They make a much better couple that would be the case with Shaun and Gary.

    Chapter 7

I agree with @Rndmrunner. I love the way you weave humor into the most serious moments in writing. Gary's coming out and her response was great, but also a good example of how you use humor to lighten a mood. Moms like this are the best. I loved the way she left the hospital room. I'm sure both Todd and Gary were a bit red faced.

    Chapter 6

I had some of my questions answered. I see Josh in a more favorable way, but think he will still receive a deserved punishment for his part in the bathroom fight. Todd is a sensitive guy, and hopefully gay as well. I feel Gary shares some responsibility and admire his courage to admit his part to save Josh's future. Hopefully, that will impress the team and get them on Gary's side or at least keep him from further confrontations.
  21. raven1

    Chapter 5

I was surprised that Todd, Josh's brother came to the rescue. This is getting very interesting and leaves me with many questions. How much damage did Josh do? What was the reason Todd went into the bathroom? Was it just chance? What is Josh's relationship with his brother Todd? Is Todd interested in Gary, or just trying to make amends for his brother? I am enjoying the story which is not unusual since you are the author Ronyx.

    Chapter 4

I also hate that Gary is telling a lie, but understand exactly why is is doing this. Gary feel alone and vulnerable. He has been betrayed and can trust no one. I hope he will change his mind.
  23. raven1

    Chapter 3

I identify with Gary, because of a similar past when I was in high school. Fortunately, the boy I was crushing on didn't reveal things publicly. He just gossip behind my back. Also it was fortunate that I was only shunned, not beaten up. I like the character development of the story. The emotions and characters are realistic and believable.
  24. Hi Albert! My hair is getting to long and a haircut is on my list of things to do this week.
