Armand is being as stubborn about adopting a girl, as Grandfather was about fishing.
I enjoyed the Halloween at the haunted house, but next year's Halloween sounds like it will be even better. Thanksgiving was a great experience. Now everyone is leaving for Spain or Italy, I think Armand is experiencing empty nest syndrome as mentioned by @mikedup.
Not to rant, but the role of parents in education is one of support. Parents wanting to run the school are on a power trip. A principal who allows parents to set the rules for the school should be replaced. Rather than run for a seat in the city council, Armand should be running for a seat on the school board. It would make more sense IMO that he helps the school become a safer environment for students. He would have a greater impact on the lives of all his kids and those who live in Uncle's House. Those kids spend a huge part of their lives in the school. Right now it is not a good environment with bigots running the place.
A very sensitive and well written story. It is sad that events like this happen somewhere in the world every day. Thanks for waiting until after Christmas to post this story.
It's a smart thing to keep the apartment and roof top garden. Not only are these places filled with memories, but sometimes as the boys grow up, it will be a place they can go to get away for a day or two.
Wow for the new fishing boat! I think as the girls see it, some may ask to be included in future fishing trips. The football game was good, and the support for Ronnie was excellent. I like that girls will be included in going to the games. As a retired teacher I want to express my delight with children learning several languages. The US educational system is very weak in this one very important area. It is somewhat better than when I was a child, but many countries require foreign language classes in more than one language and at much younger ages.
The greed of the city council has lead to a much better place and situation for the kids living at Uncle's House. With the additional plans it will be an exceptional place and model for future homes for orphans. I think some of Arrow's paintings might inspire buyers to do something similar in their own communities. I expect GG may place a small thought in Richie's head about the home office for Colin. Peter's tale was sad, and I do hope his father is stopped before something tragic happens to Peter, his mother or to her family. With clothes shopping done, and the family settled in the new home, I hope Armand can do some painting and Colin and the kids can choose their new fishing boat.
Richie's reaction to his home was well written. Colin is simply amazing. A few projects re now done, and they are already talking about the next trips to Europe. There are still a lot more projects to complete before then. Here's my suggestion for the boat.
Hi Dugh! I hope your achy head is better today. You and Mom have a great Monday start to the week.
I do a lot of cooking for the freezer. Aod makes great foods, but sometimes adds huge amounts of chili peppers. (He likes very, very hot foods, unlike most Thais.) I have my fall back foods in the freeze for such occasions.
Typical reaction of Aod's friends to one of his very spicy dishes.
Hi Bucket! Hope the allergies are letting up. I don't have much problem with my allergies anymore, but do keep some antihistamine on hand in case I do. What's the weather like your way?
Me too. The field burning season is terrible, and I would take the cold clean air. The only problem is here no one has a furnace. There are warm clothes, gloves, hats, scarfs and ear mufflers for when the weather gets cold, like 20 degrees C.😊
That's a gross overstatement. I may not be able to attend, drink and dance for days on end at an EDM concert like my 60 year old friend, but I also do a hell of a lot more that some folks do that are half my age. 🤨 At least I can cook and change lightbulbs in the ceiling fixtures.
Returning home is always a great feeling now matter how wonderful the vacation. Now to get organizing the extra kids, and getting the backlog of projects down a bit.
Where are they going to put all the extra kids. When you said 8 boys were you including Ronnie, Tommy and Richie, or are these new boys? Since they needed their parents permission, I'll assume they are temporary additions to the family. I think GG needs to take a vacation. The boys need some time to catch up on the projects. I am beginning to loose track of how many projects are in production and how many are already planned.
Hi Gary, Not to rub it in, but every time some one up north mentions the weather there I get a sympathetic shiver up my spine. That's followed by a content feeling about living in Chiang Mai. Next month you can do the same when you read about the record setting air pollution here. Burning season starts the end of February and I will be complaining when the PMI reaches over 400.
