About the hell thing... you're getting pretty close to what happens Lots of answers are definitely coming, although not all of them just yet Thanks for reviewing, Gene!

    Chapter 2

Oh, wow! Awesome chapter, Alex is in for it now! This might even be good for him, if it makes him a little less cocky . I just wonder if Carlin had anything to do with it . Alex seemed pretty confident about his ability to escape as soon as he woke up, but I don't see what he could do if they'd tied him up. I think he's in for a bit more of a ride than he's expecting, and it'll be fun to see

I'm still deciding just how horrible to make the governor's death . The first hints for how Erin got there will be dropped soon, although I'm not sure when it'll be confirmed

    Chapter 14

Hopefully that is William, and Avery's dad shanks him before noticing who it is More likely, it's the sheriff; Matt would probably be too panicked to knock, and William couldn't have gotten there that fast. Oh well, I hope the sheriff shoots first and asks questions later, when he sees Avery's dad holding a knife and most likely splattered with blood . I just hope he goes for the kneecaps or something, so that bastard can live to be tortured
  6. A faint noise came from behind me and I turned, not really alarmed for some reason. I saw a shape in the mist, so I walked closer, watching as it approached me at a slower pace. As I neared it, I began to be able to make out details; I frowned as I realized the form was limping as it walked towards me. I wondered what it was; other than this limping form, I seemed to be in the same place as last night, when I’d met Erin. Wait… “Erin!” He didn’t respond, not so much as looking up as he walked

Thanks! You've got perfect timing, I just finished another chapter right now

    Chapter 1

Oh, wow! There's lots going on already, it was definitely a good start! Alexandre's dad seems like a dick, but I still get the feeling it was a bad idea for him to glance so blatantly at the axe in his office . Even if training with Carlin (or whatever his real name is, that "Carli- Carlin" was suspicious ) makes Alex good enough to beat his father, his uncles would probably cause trouble for him if he did. I can't wait to see how Alex gets out of it, and it'll be fun to learn more about Carlin and Tomacia - considering Carlin was trained at fighting and seems like he might be a little haughty, I wouldn't be too surprised to learn he's in a position of power in Tomacia similar to Alex's in Nabius Anyway, I really like your writing, it's descriptive, powerful, and best of all your grammar and spelling are awesome . I'll be waiting for the next chapter!

    Chapter 13

Yay, what a happy chapter! Matt's so nice to Avery, the pencils were really thoughtful . I hope we get to see his mean side too, when he learns what that bastard (don't need to name him, you know who I mean ) has been doing

Luckily for Erin, Nate's used to moving quickly He can't quite keep up with a horse, even when it's carrying two people, but if all goes well he won't be too long! I hope Clyde lives too I guess we'll find out when I can finally get around to writing some more!

Awesome! Thanks, I'm glad you like it, and your misgivings won't be a problem . I'm actually terrible at posting quickly, and it'll slow down a lot from here on out, although hopefully not to an intolerable pace

    Chapter 1

this isn't the last we'll see of the bakery, but it is toned down a little from here out Magic won't be a huge part of this story; there's only two parts in it (that I have planned so far, at least) that would give the idea that it's a fantasy story. Erin and Nate will show up in it, but probably only once it's mostly independent from The World Beyond the Mirror, I just liked Tim and Wyatt when I wrote their scene in TWBTM (that's coming up soon ) and thought they deserved their own story. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Yeah, I'm not so excited for them being apart either, but at least Erin's seen a bit more than he would have with Nate Thank you for taking the time to read! I'm glad you like it

    Chapter 12

Oh well, even if Avery's call didn't make it through, he still has the phone, and he can charge it as soon as he gets home. He can even use it to get evidence of what his dad's doing, so hopefully Matt finds out and can convince him that it's not his fault!
  15. “Wake up, Erin,” Clyde said, tapping my shoulder. I started to open my eyes, but he quickly covered them, making me laugh. “Do you really think that even if I had some eye-related magic, it’d be stopped by a blindfold?” “Not really,” he said. “But there’s no harm in being safe. I’ve seen wonderful things done with magic, I’ve seen strange things, and I’ve seen terrible things, but I’ve never seen anything I could explain or predict.” I shrugged. “How about if I promise not to use any of my hy
  16. “Wyatt, Tim, I’m going to the bakery!” Mom called, letting us know she’d be gone for about an hour forty-five on her bi-weekly ritual. “K, can you bring back some of those chocolate bread-things?” I shouted downstairs hopefully. I could hear her laughter faintly from the front door. “It’s called ‘pain au chocolat’,” she told me for the thousandth time, “and fine, but you’re gonna get fat.” “Love you too,” I called sarcastically, an amused smile on my face, and I heard her laughter again befor
  17. Just to clarify: this is a spinoff of 'The World Beyond the Mirror', although if you haven't read it you won't miss too much. _____ Wyatt's mom loves the bakery across town. She goes twice a week, but when she breaks her hip, it falls on Wy to be the errand boy, and for the first time, he meets the baker's son his mom has told him about a few times. They become friends easily, but could they eventually be anything more?
  18. Thanks I'm posting chapter 11 right now, and hopefully 12 will be sometime soon

    Chapter 13

That's definitely not the last they'll see of wildman, and maybe he'll be a bit more chatty next time . I get the feeling he knows a lot more than Will and Teddy, and not just about survival.

    Chapter 11

Avery's pseudo-happiness as they packed was really sad he was so caught up in having friends for the first time that he couldn't see what was coming - and that was probably a good thing. I doubt he'll be able to last the week there, even without having to know it was coming beforehand. I only hope Matt and Erin figure out that something's wrong when they see that the texts are delivered but not read; maybe if Matt remembers his suspicions about Avery's dad and how defensive he was about his wristbands, he'll realize something's not right. he might even try to snoop at the house or something (although Erin seems more likely to do that), and find Avery's dad at home!

    The Vertical City

Yep, Erin's game is finally over, and he's gotten a 'peak' (I'm sorry ) at the tip of the iceberg of stupidity that the game was . I'm glad you're excited for the next part, I'm touching it up now Thanks for reviewing!

    Chapter 10

Beautiful chapter, the kiss was perfectly described It's awesome to see Avery getting a little bit of a break, like the calm before the storm. I just hope the incoming storm - and the small spark of confidence Matt gives him - are enough to let him do what he has to (preferably murder ) to escape his dad, or that Matt can save him.
  23. I blinked groggily, unsure where I was. Everything was black, and my head hurt. There was fabric covering my eyes, and when I moved to take it off I found my hands were tied behind my back. I shifted, trying to stand up from my kneeling position, but I lurched and almost fell over as the handcuffs pulled on my ankles. Why am I tied up? I wondered, my head hurting as I tried to think. I was with Nate, and I left to try to find some way to have breakfast ready for him, and then… Nothing. I could
