This Isn't About You, Not Really.
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in This Isn't About You, Not Really.
LOL! You're as much of a foodie as I am! One of the joys of this area is the always available good food--even the little "dellis" in service stations have good stuff. The muffulettas, oyster poboys, red beans and rice (yeah, I'm already planning on making some for Monday--come on up!) and hot beignets (heaven!) are just part of what make this area special. The dreams of Ryan's are definitely revealing--and there's more to come with 'em. But it's all a healing/good thing. THANK YOU for your constant support, and comments--you mean a lot to me buddy! -

Thanks, Zenith! Yup, there ARE a lot of sub-plots running. But, they're all coming together, and R & C will be the beneficiaries (?) of all of that! THANK YOU for reading along, and commenting--I appreciate you! -

Aw, Timothy...I'm not deliberately stringing you along--it just takes time to tell the story right! And, it's coming. Clayton's enough of a "plodding thinker" it's taking him time to fully reveal himself--and unfortunately, it's feeding Ryan's insecurities. But, that'll be corrected shortly (like in the next couple of chapters). Glad you're hanging in for the ride--and I ALWAYS appreciate your comments and support! -
You've done a masterful job on a chapter with so damn much going on! Between dealing with our heroes' lack of time/energy for intimacy, to planning for the trip overseas, to getting the boys motivated for guitar lessons, and introducing a couple of new characters (the guitar instructor and Sam's sister)...well, this one was non-stop changes. Plus, plenty of options for plot developments. Really grateful for the changes the boys are having on their instructor, and really curious to see the sisters new role in the guys' lives. Can't wait for the next chapter! Damn fine writing here!

All caught up--and worth every moment! Love these characters, the clever dialogue, realistic situations, your ability to clearly describe their environment without getting bogged down with superfluous detail--damn, I envy your efficient writing. I'm sorry to see this tale come to an end with the next chapter...a story this well done calls for a sequel! Superb job!

Sizzling chapter, and loving the way they're bonding. Moving forward after another well-done installment?

Damn if I don't love bright spots like the reunion of Shade, hide dad, and his mom! You hit all the right notes with this! Curtis, bless his heart, still has some work to do--but he's coming along. Looking forward to more--you "done good" here!

Jason and Pierre's meeting went far better than I'd have guessed. I'm wondering now if Pierre's forgiveness will modify Corey's response when they DO finally meet. In the meantime, watching a hung-over groom should prove interesting? A damn fine chapter, full of solid dialogue, and realistic emotion. You've done well! Now, about that next chapter's release date---tomorrow, right? (Grin)

Cole, thanks so much for the comments about the dreams. Each of us has to work through that stuff when the time is right--and Ryan seems to have a solid handle on all of it; his war flashbacks, the ups and downs of therapy, and he even seems to cope ok with his uncertainty about his relationship with Clayton. (His questioning about whether to give Clayton a night off, the "am I doing the right thing" attitude shows both his desire to treat Clayton well, and his own insecurity in not dealing with it head on.) As for Clayton's issues...well, those surprises will be coming out in the next couple of chapters, so not long to wait. THANK YOU for always insightful comments, and for hanging with the tale. Means a LOT! -

Jeff, THANK YOU for the "attaboy" comments. I'm really glad you're enjoying the characters, I really DO work hard to make 'em as real and believeable as the guys you share beers with. THANKS for the gracious comments--they mean a lot! -

Refugium, you eagle-eyed devil, THANK YOU for catching that misspelling! After going through countless re-reads, my editor, and a couple of beta readers, we all missed it. It's fixed now...and I appreciate you letting me know about it. I also appreciate your comments about the dream sequences. I interviewed a number of Veterans and really wanted to make the dreams come through as being as unsettling and vivid as those guys have 'em; I appreciate your comments on that. THANK YOU for reading along, and commenting. Your review means a lot! -

Parker, you've nailed it...Ryan is doing his soul-searching, and that bodes well for his relationship with Clayton--if he can just move past his insecurity about the relationship. (Witness his response about the "not really" comment from Clayton. Still some work to be done there.) THANKS for reading and commenting--I appreciate you! -

I think you're exactly right--the heroes I've seen interviewed (war heroes, some activists, quite a few common folk who do heroic things that many don't pick up on) all share humility and a "what, who me a hero?" mentality. Many just view it as "do the right thing, no big deal"--and it makes 'em all the more appealing. THANK YOU, Daddy, for reading along, and your always solid comments! -

Aw, thanks, Onim! I'm not at all certain we give enough credit to the value of friendships in many of the stories we read/write. It's great to know you're enjoying that line of the story! THANK YOU for your reading and support...it means a lot! -

The Boy with the Lavender Eyes

I'm just now discovering this intriguing story. You've created a couple of great characters, the dialogue flows well, and plot direction is wide-open. I'm loving this! Well done! Now, plowing on ahead.... -
They say for every Monday holiday you’re off work, you work twice as hard in the remaining four days of the workweek. It’s true. This week is busy as hell. I’m already buried with work plus personal shit. Today’s already busy at the Cadillac store. I’ve already had three customers and a shit ton of helpdesk type calls. Most of those calls weren’t real issues, just customers who had their cars out for the long holiday weekend, and had forgotten—or never used—all the capabilities of the info

Great, fun chapter...the guys get to cover LOTS of territory in the city, and CJ is opening up a little about his encounter with JM. Talking through things helps, but it's the face to face meeting that'll make the difference. Nicely done!

Freshman Year - Chapter 19
Robert Rex commented on oat327's story chapter in Freshman Year - Chapter 19
interesting to watch the relationship "negotiations" between Adam and Kevin. Neither one wants to acknowledge their need for the other, but neither one can deal with the repercussion of a relationship--at least, one that's openly a relationship. With Justine coming in for the visit, and the shared knowledge/intimacy of this cast of characters, I'm wondering if Adam/Peter is going to come out/be outed to his sister? That could be interesting. Great job of adding depth to the characters, and building the story line. I'm feeling a climax coming--soon. -
Great that Curtis and Casey are building the friendship--and kinda surprised that Curtis is still attempting (half-heartedly?) to put moves on Casey, even when Casey's made his commitment to Shade clear. Joshua and Curtis, thought? Is there really room for someone else in their lives when they've been so self-absorbed? (Although Curtis DOES seem to be changing.....) The next chapters are gonna be fun; getting popcorn to watch this show! Good job!

Fun chapter--if the school board meeting is gonna be as fun as the church walkout, I'm gonna hafta get more popcorn! What a fun show. Now...where's that next chapter? (Grin)

Poor Nolan! Hopefully he'll get the help and support he needs...great that Liam's there, but far more is needed. Interesting chapter--the plot just keeps developing, with more sub-plots! -
Sounds like Jared's army is gonna be needed. But to who does the bar's alleigence lie? Looking forward to the next chapter--great job with this!

Jensen saved the day with his fast thinking...but the history of these creatures is disturbing...we will find out soon, right? Now,where's that next chapter? (Grin)

Yikes! What the hell happened to the occupants of the planet that they they've all been decapitated? You've added another mystery, you demon! This stuff just keeps stacking up...nice tension builder!
