I've been away, but finally got caught up (11 chapters!)--and what a tale! Loving the plot twists, the realistic characters, easy dialogue, and the interplay of the Shane and Jason; realistic, not "soapy". Plus, we've got a mystery underway. Damn fine job telling this tale!

I'm finally caught up after being away--only 8 chapters to go through! But, damn, was it worth it--great writing, characters I've grown to love (even, or especially Gary, of whom I've been constantly suspicious), a solid resolution of issues with Toph's family, and a great epilogue showing us that this was a labor of love for the author, who loves these characters as much as we do. I'm gonna miss this tale, with it's rock-solid writing. What a great job you've done here!

Good start to the story! You give just enough of the characters to draw us in--and I suspect the tale is gonna escalate quickly. Damn fine writing here--good job!

A great start to (what I'm assuming) will be an intriguing tale! Solid characters, sparse and believable dialogue, and no-nonsense writing all combine to make the first chapter drag my happy ass into the rest of the story. Look forward to rest of this!

Cajbor, I appreciate your observations on this period. For me, I think it's sometimes to easy to focus on the terror of that period of time, and push aside the joy and fun that existed. It really WAS a magical time, and despite the loss of too many of our best and brightest of that era, we've made it through--and I can think of no better way to honor them than to remember what we had and use that to make today better! THANK YOU for the comments! -

Glad you were able to get the "back" story on Joe and Rex. Isn't that the way we find out a lot of things about new friends--we take what we know at the start and "fill in" their past as we learn more about them? And, I deliberately made each story a stand-alone tale, so that one story isn't a required read for the other; but, it IS nice to get some of the blanks filled in on their lives. You'll see Joe and Rex, and Dave and Barry make appearances in "Lion's Lair". So keep reading! THANK YOU for your picking up this story! Glad you enjoyed it! -

YIKES! Hate mail?!? Glad I'm able to incite that level of passion with the writing! You're absolutely right--Barry did the "ultimate" sacrifice of himself to "save" the life of his boys for the future. And, you'll see in a future chapter that it pays off--so please, hold off on the hate mail till the end of the story! (grin) THANK YOU for reading and commenting--I appreciate you! -

I'd written another shorter story, "Joe the Welder", prior to Landfall...and there's now another full-length story, "Lion's Lair", which has starring guest appearances with Bubba and Bulldog as a part of that stand-alone story. Thanks, Mike...what kind words! I'm already at work on another story--this one a sci-fi--and we'll see how it comes out. (Doing it a little differently, gonna get it written completely THEN release it!) But the "Gang" is too good to leave behind, so I'm certain there's another story ahead with 'em plus some new characters, too! THANK YOU for your friendship, support, and for sticking with the tale! Aw, thanks, Skinny! I must admit I've grown to love these characters, and how each story has expanded their personalities. So yes, there MAY be another story, and the introduction of another couple of characters. But, I also love a challenge--so I'm currently working on a sci-fi story (and yeah, I'm scared of the outcome, but pushing forward). That's probably the greatest compliment a talented writer like you can give--claiming that my characters have lots of humanity. Thank you! BTW, I'm getting caught up on my reading--I'm now only 5 chapters behind on your superb work with "Toph"! THANK YOU for your constant support and encouragement--and for sticking with the story! I appreciate you!
