I suspect GA has popularized the use of compression shorts for those of us who can't be restrained from reading stories in public. At least they can keep more sensitive areas restrained.
Both men are on paths altering their lives to make their relationship more permanent. Todd is in a state of near constant arousal and Frost's normally taciturn manner has warmed to what for him is a jovial nature. It's amusing to watch them coming together.

Bond's PPK was a .32 in the books and replaced a Beretta .25. The Europeans were slow to go to serious calibers. It took the Munich Olympics to change their polite mindset.

My uncle served in WWII and he hated the .45. He said he couldn't hit a barn with it and it rattled. Since he was an officer, he carried a revolver instead, brought it home with him.
Keep in mind the .45 you carried in the Army had been in service a very long time. They were only intended for close range personal defense and armorers kept them at this level for very practical reasons. Tightening the slide, using a closer tolerance barrel bushing and barrel link could and likely would lead to malfunctions in the dirt and mud of field conditions. You can strike matches with a .45.
