The lonely residential street was nearly empty at nine in the morning, which put Silas' nerves at ease. It was only referenced briefly earlier, but there is a point where Silas talks about how Emma stopped talking to him about Ian because she became afraid of her parents finding out. He holds onto that part of the memory along with everything else, and it makes him distrust Emma.

Chelsea's a smart girl, and unless someone is deep down the rabbit hole of depression, normally one time feeling your life slipping away is all you need to know that it's not something you want. Well, that's somewhat of a lie. You can still have the depression come back and make you want to do it again, but that's because it muddles your thoughts and makes you want to do anything to escape it.

Sorry, Lisa. I honestly thought I had replied to this review days ago. Now It looks like yours is the last of the chapter 16 reviews for me to handle. But at least I'm here now. Hmmm... Psychology was on the list of potential majors for me to put Silas into, though I know what field he's going into already, but if I keep your guys guessing. . . Everything will be made clear about what happened with Daniel, Adam, and Chelsea. The involvement or non-involvement of Pastors Simms and Gregory will also be made known. I just won't tell you how until it comes out.

"I hope Adelaide is going to be all right in the house by herself," Silas said as the elevator neared its destination. Ian had calmed down considerably since they had left the Wendy's, but he was still agitated, and Silas was doing everything he could to take Ian's mind off of the situation. "I'm sure she'll be fine," Ian said coolly, but when Silas didn't respond he turned toward him and smiled reassuringly, "This is the first time you two have been apart since you left home, isn't it?"

It was intended as teasing, with perhaps a small bit of flirting in there as well. Silas was trying to ascertain what type of relationship he had with Adam, for multiple reasons. He views Adam as more of a brother than a lover, but he had to see how Adam felt. He's always careful, and the more information he has, the better.
