    Chapter 26

Everyone was tired after spending the better part of the night at the police station. The sun was nearly up by the time it was over, and until Ian had run off to get them something from Wendy’s they hadn’t eaten since dinner the night before. Chelsea was practically falling asleep in Tara’s lap, and Tara was out cold leaning against the wall when the sheriff finally announced that they could all go home. As exhausted as Silas felt, he knew that there were two in their group who had it worse.
  2. Hopefully I'll find my muse again so I can send you all another three flying months.
  3. I guess we'll just have to see.
  4. Indeed. But don't worry, you guys will hate me at the end of chapter 26 and won't want to see me for awhile. Muahahahaha!
  5. This has been stuck in my head for months now.
  6. You look them in the eyes, you apologize for what's happened, and then you move forward, taking it one step at a time. You can't expect to overcome it over night. One does not climb a mountain in a single step, one does it by constantly pushing forward and up. Oh, and drink lots of water. lol.

    Chapter 25

Adelaide was growling louder than she ever had before, but she seemed to sense the danger that Silas was in and kept her distance from Pastor Simms. Silas tried to meet her eyes and communicate with her silently, to let her know that everything was all right, but she wasn’t looking at him at all. Pastor Simms was doing his best to ignore Adelaide, but Silas could feel the tension in the pastor’s arms and hands whenever Adelaide growled. “You’ve got to make a choice, boy,” Pastor Simms said t
  8. Thank you for this topic. Since I'm currently going through something similar, I'm happy to see all these responses that have given me some ideas on how to proceed on my soul searching. At the moment I've taken to doing some editing and beta-reading so that I can still learn about writing while I get my own demons sorted out, but from what I've read from you so far, Warrior1, I think it's only a matter of time before you break through.
  9. Guilt is something I've lived with over my entire life, and I understand how damaging it can be to one's psyche. If you're someone like me, an eternal pessimist, it can be downright damning. The trick is to realize that the present is the only thing that you can control, and that whatever happened in the past can serve as nothing more than a lesson to be learned, as you can never change it. Coincidentally, I just shared a line from one of my favorite movies, "Hector and the Search for Happiness". The line is, "Nostalgia isn't what it used to be". See, the main character of the movie is filled with thoughts of "what if I had done things differently?" and he ends up meeting with someone from his past who essentially tells him that his idea of the past is irrelevant, because the present isn't the past and it never will be. You can't change it, so it's better to hold onto those memories of past wrongs in a way that will help you avoid those mistakes in the future, but not in a way that keeps you rooted on where you went wrong. Life is going to move on, with or without you, and it's better to go along with it. Best of luck to you, and I hope you can overcome. Many of us go through moments like this, but they're definitely survivable.
  10. Thank you, Cole. While I know this may be an idealistic approach, I hope that it will at least help some people. And I'll never apologize for being an idealist, lol.

    Chapter 24

Thanks for reading it. The resolution of the conflict will post tonight. Be ready.

    Chapter 24

Some things are just meant to be . . .

I did tinker with that idea. *evil grin*

    Chapter 24

Hopefully the timeline isn't too confusing, either. They're literally stuck at the accident the same time that Silas is hanging there, just in case anyone was wondering.

    Chapter 23

Well I'm glad that you managed to get into it and then left me a review. Answers are coming in chapter 25, which will post in roughly 7.5 hours.

    Chapter 23

I think you'll find that most if not all of that will be covered in the next few chapters. There's going to be some changes for those involved.

    Chapter 23

Thanks, Robert. Adelaide knows her boy, don't worry.

    Chapter 23

I may have been watching too much Criminal Minds when I wrote this. I figured that SImms has a serial killer mindset, and so he created the recording as part of his MO. The answer is coming in chapter 25.

    Chapter 23

And hopefully it hasn't been too long of one. Don't worry, the resolution is coming soon. We only have three chapters left, and this next one will give you the answer.

    Chapter 22

Thank you for the review as always, Lisa. We'll find out tonight just what happens with Silas and Simms.
  22. I'm glad that I was able to convey it then. I wrote that scene exactly from this picture, haha! That scene actually wouldn't have existed if it weren't for this picture, as the original concept of the story would have ended with Silas finally accepting to move in with Ian and Amy. Originally he was going to walk back out into the blizzard after dropping Chelsea off but . . . this changed everything. On another note, here is the inspiration for Theo: http://cynusstorybook.tumblr.com/post/124333354565/this-is-the-inspiration-for-theo-now-ill-tell Edit: I just noticed that Adam uses a rifle in chapter 25 and a shotgun in chapter 23. The Shotgun has been changed.
  23. Well, all the same to everyone who didn't send me hate mail, thank you for supporting The Navigator and my writing in general. It's about time I updated the tumblr again, so I hope you enjoy this reward for paying attention and supporting me. You'll find a picture of the muse for Silas there, and a brief explanation of how he inspired Silas' character. I hope you enjoy. Here's the link to that post only: http://cynusstorybook.tumblr.com/post/124299309525/this-is-silas-or-rather-the And for those who want to browse the entire tumblr: http://cynusstorybook.tumblr.com/ Enjoy!
  24. That's awesome. It's actually only happened once or twice over the past two years, but I expected more voiced frustration at the extended cliff hanger, though there were only a handful that did. I was merely exaggerating when I called it hate mail, lol.
