Happy Birthday Old Vic (Hehe!) Remember what you told me as a comment in one of my blogs 40 is the beginning of a new youth. And this is no a joke ! The years between 40 and 50 were my happiest years. I wish you from heart the same. Still young to enjoy life, and old enough to appreciate the pleasures life can give. Take it easy, don't let you press by the type passing and be happy in every circumstances Old bob (young for ever)

Hi Kevin, Usually you are more prolix ! What happened ? Your "Muse" is on holidays ? (teasing is the pleasure of old men who can't think well anymore) .

Are you really thinking that this pool would prevent C James to stop playing with our expectation of cliffhangers ?

If I remember well, somebody allready asked the same question in another thread (?). I didn't need to ask myself this question . As some of you know, I'm bi and my girlfriend got pregnant (it was 57 years ago, condoms were not so easy to get, and calendar-based methods like the Knaus-Ogino Method often failed ! ). But after the first schock, we were both happy, it was a proof that we were "in love". So we went on and you allready know the rest of the story from my blogs (4 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren). I couldn't imagine my life without kids . Adopted or blood, it doesn't matter. The only main point : you must be aware of the responsability to raise kids. It's always a challenge, but the "return of investment" is worthwhile. old Bob

Quite right ! Apart fiction, I also have to read a lot of books, mostly new published, about my daily business work (management consulting). Some of them I go through by "quick reading" (I suppose you know this reading method), some I have to read them in details, making notes and summaries. BTW, what would FDR think of the democrats of today if he would come back ? Old bob

Your books about WWII ? Books you wrote ? he, where could I find these books ? I like stories about WWII. I lived it Old bob

You are quite right ! Psychanalists of the Jung's school often ask their patients to "let it go" and express their feelings and their suffering through "free" drawings. This method is also used by psychanalists dealing with very young patients. The most famous of them is Fran

Hi everybody What kind of pleasure you feel reading a story at GA ?

Hi Gary, Remember Tiger's post, he said he could'nt afford a psy. It's why I proposed him my temporary solution ! I fully agree with you, medication is always a good complement . In my "old" age, I have a growing tendency to be incapable to tolerate unbearable persons around me. My fits of anger are well known in my family .So my solution is to take in the morning, with my breakfast, 0.5mg of Alprazolam (called Xanax here) when I have to meet these persons in my diary . Hi Kevin, Also a good proposal . But if you want it to really work, it's necessary to write it, if possible daily, and to take time to read back your journal when you are in a bad mood. It's like a conversation with yourself. At the beginning, it's hard to keep it going, but after a few weeks, the lack of trust Tiger talk about will slowly disappear. The Ancient Greek aphorism "Know yourself" (Greek: γνῶθι σεαυτόν), meaning knowing one's own habits, morals, temperament, ability to control anger, and other aspects of human behavior that we struggle with on a daily basis. Ultimately to understand oneself is to understand other humans as well. You have a long way in front of you, but it's worthwhile.

I'm really sorry for you . remember what James said in a former post : A way to cure your depression (if you are sure it's not only a bad mood ?) without a psy, if you have a good an close friend, is to talk to him, to open your heart so you can find out together what could be the cause of your bad feelings. The part of your friend is NOT to give you "advices", not to "judge", just to ask short questions and to give you free way to answer. Want to know more ? send me a PM. BTW, this has nothing to do with the subject, but when I was young, I suffered from very heavy headaches, which came suddenly, lasted hours and I could do anything against it. I was "out" and had to stay in a dark room, trying to sleep without success. As I got older, they disappeard with the time. I wish you the same with your depression. old Bob

Hillary loses......the rest of the nation wins
old bob commented on NickolasJames8's blog entry in Read my blog
I tried to read the different US papers and follow on the web sites like CNN and others. Your summary is much better as all what I found elsewhere. Nick, you are a "born" commentator" of the US politics for a interested foreigner like I'm. Thanks a lot for your blog BTW, how do you think what will happen now till end of August ? -
Hi everybody, Here a recent comment in the topic

Oh yes ! I know you are speaking about your own experiences, as I do (Switzerland is a friendly but well armed country !). I never liked this kind of weapon. We used 2 kind of grenades, offensive and defensive, fortunately only in exercises. The fist ones were very "sensitive" but when I had to lead these exercises, I always feared an accident.

Today is a great day . I fully agree with Nick ( if i remember well, it's the first time) . And rich'e words are also mine : "The key word is tastefully. It can be quite cute in moderation." Nothing else to say. Old bob

these days, the forums are really full of funny questions. Before I answer, I dare to draw a parallel with another tribe : the Jewish people (pl dont take it seriously, I'm teasing !). We are the electeted people, selecteted to bring peace in the world though the Messias, we have more duties as others goyim, we are all priesters and nearer to God as others. Most of us are born Jews, we never chose to be and have to endure the burden to be apart the common people. And think of it, some of us are even doubly "selected" and apart . we are Jew and gay . Unfortunately, these two caracteristics have the same particularity : you can't deny it or wash it away like a dark stain. So the only thing which remains : to be proud about it . And now my answer : I like what I'm, I'm tall (a little less now), with braun hair (much white now), with brown-green eyes, I'm bipolar (sometimes), I have a big mouth (I always say what I'm thinking, it cost me a lot !) and I'm a bi-jew and proud to be what I'm. BTW bi-jew, as it is expressed in English, has the same sound as Bijou in French, which means "Jewel", exactly what I'm Anything against it ? Old bob

Hi CJ wow was too busy in the last few weeks and came just now to read chapters 28 to 41. I have nothing more to say to what I told you allready in my comments about all your stories. Just a suggestion : you have Gold in your hands ! You should contact an agent or an editor. You have to be published. Do you want me to search one for you, accustomed to publish stories of young gay men (no porn !!) ? I have some contacts. I can't imagine how you organize your data base with all the researches you had to do for all the technical, geographical and military details you bring in each chapter. Are you really working alone, with no specialized help for you researches ? I dont want to bring a new comment after each chapter, I just want to say how much I appreciate your writing. It apply to all your works Old bob

If I remember well, the last "political" story was one brought by Jake Scribe. Welcome to this new one. I agree with B1ue, but you only need very few changes. And your story is a good opportunity to show us better than in your posts your political orientation . Dont let us wait too long for the story itself.

Hi yukibi, Wellcome here. Dont be afraid to participate with your "broken" english . I'm in the same boat as you. English is not my mother tongue, but during the 2 years I participated in the forums and blogs, I could improve my knowledge and make myself understood without problems. Nobody was laughing about my mistakes and a lot of "teachers" helped me . Old bob

Hi Gary, As one of he older members (if not the oldest !) I followed the discussion with some astonishment. To choose or not to be gay ? What a strange question ! In the sixties and later, we hadn't time to think "theoretically". We were what we were and being gay or bi instead of being straight, to be in the closet or coming out, was more the result of the experiences we made than an intellectual decision ! I'm not sure that how the younger generation feels today is the results of the struggles of the older generations. It's just that today most of the powerful people have other interests, economically and politically, than to support an ideological fight against GBLT, and that the homophobes churches are loosing influence in favor of more open evangelical movements. I'm perhaps too optimistic ? but my feeeling is, that at least in Western Europe, we are a lot more "accepted" than "tolerated". Gary, I hope that you are conscious to live today in another world than in 1992. And BTW, if you are talking of "the struggles the older generations", dont forget : successful Gay Pride Parades belonged to these "struggles" . Old bob (79 in 15 days !)

I made allready my comment to "buy me a drink" Tiff spoke also for me, so I repeat her words: "You are definitely meant to be a writer, so it's good that you have plans for more works in the future. Good luck on your date "

Hi DLP, let me organize my answer : Why confused, are you afraid about his attitude and the possibilities it's open for you ? or is it because you have to see more clearly in yourself ? Why do you need an advise ? Demetz's and Kevin's answers are clear enough. At the next occasion, talk to him and ask him if he likes you. You can do it incidentally but you have to begin the conversation and bring him to a position he is obliged to ask . BTW, are you extravert (Extraverts tend to enjoy human interactions and to be enthusiastic, talkative, assertive, and gregarious) or introvert (Introverts tend to be low-key, deliberate, and relatively less engaged in social situations) ? As an extravert, it will be easy for you to find the words to "catch" him. As an introvert, you have to begin with a question, any question, just to initiate the contact. And if he answers with another question, than you know what to say Want to know more about theses notions ? Visit this site Two "facts" are here showing you the way : who sat first away from the other students ? who was first looking to the other ?you or him ? Even if you are both "just playing a game", a game has first to begin as a game, before it could become something else Go on and good luck. A french proverb says "qui ne tente rien n'a rien" (without try, no success). Old bob

The comments in the Poll "Gay Pride Parades" brought me to ask more precise questions about the subject. In your comments a lot of members build their opinions on feelings, reports of others and (as it seems to me) not on effective experiences of such parades. It's why I asked. Opinions based on own experiences and facts are always stronger than gossips . And about the question Nr. 4, I know a lot of straight and gayfriendly people who participate in Gay parades just to show on which side they are, against all kind of homophobia ! Old bob
