    Salut Fran

    Well, here I go

Hey Adam ! It seems you have a lot more friends that you think ! The way you write shows that you are not so silly as you say. I could imagine that your life experience, as hard at it was, is worthy. And dont forget, to be bipolar has also good sides. As wikipedia says :"many with bipolar disorder tend to be more driven, extremely goal oriented, and hard working.". Trust the experiences from a very old man : life is often hard, but at the end, you will forget the bad times and only keep the good memories in mind. If you want to talk, PM me. And BTW, you made the good choice for your carrier. With psych and law, you can "rule the word". Take care and be happy (very)old Bob
  3. Hey CJ Its Holy Thursday afternoon (no business work) here and I just red the 3 last chapters, laughing about the way you write As I said before, I like your story, the fairness of your hero and the way you trap him in the uneasiest situations just to bring your damn cliffhangers to disturb the reader Reading the last chapter, I heard all the noises in it . Its too much, I'm still laughing Fortunately, its allready middle of the week, just 4 days to wait still the next chapter is on line. Well done CJ
  4. 150 miles make 180 km/h, if I dont make a mistake ? A few years ago (he yes about 30, there was then no speed limits on highways) I rode often between Geneva and Paris with my NSU car (doesnt exist anymore, it was an Audi with a Wankel motor, perhaps somebody with a knowledge of car history could explain what is a Wankel motor ?) with an average speed of 150 to 180 km/h. Its not so much if you have the right car with the right power. BTW the highway-police arrested in few weeks ago two young men who made a race on a swiss highway between Bern and Zurich (about 100 miles) between 2 and 3 am and made a speed of 240 km/h (200 miles/h !) Dont ask which kind of cars....Ferrari . And we complain our highways are also not well maintained
  5. Funny ! First, I thought that this phrase didnt concern me. At 78, are many more major choices to be made ? After thinking a lot, I will answer yes. Among all the life experiences I made, I learnt more from the bad ones that from the others. but deep down in my soul, I must say that I'm still the same i was 70 years ago. What I learnt can be said in 2 sentences : "Nihil novi sub sole" and "carpe diem" ( Mark, as a lawyer, you could translate ) I dont know From the beginning, I had always the chance to be aware of the plus and minus of the different roads when I was at a bifurcation. In my "private" life, today I'm sure to have made the right decisions. It was and it is an "happy life". In my "business" life, I made a lot of wrong decisions, but today, I'm happy with what I'm and I'm sure that at the end, in spite of the wrong decisions, I would be today in the same situation I'm now. Never give up. Never forget that after each night there is a dawn! And as I could test many many times: "heaven helps those who help themselves". The best (I think so after so many years) : I was 26 years old, as a young research engineer, I had a very interesting offer to work for Sperry Rand and emigrate to the States( It was the time of "brain drain" from Europe and a lot of skilled people left to the States). I sat a night long with my wife and we decided to stay in Switzerland. In comparison with US, Switzerland is a paradise! The worst : in the seventees, I managed (among others) a film distribution company. Just before the "Festival de Cannes" (like now) I had the opportunity to buy the rights for Switzerland of a french film project for a "flat" price or 25'000 swiss francs. It was an unknown filmmaker with unknown actors, and I didnt buy it. The title of the fim : "three men and a craddle". In Switzerland only, the company wich bought it made 2'500'000.- benefit , 100 times more. I'm still angry about my decision !
  6. Wow ! THANKS Rob. You are right .This was a good example of community work Its very important to have strong friends and to ask early enough to help. The next time, the authors will certainly be "productive"

    Today

In the morning, while shaving, I see somebody asking "what will you do today? looking in the future... In the night, while teeth brushing, I see the same "somebody" asking "what have you done today ? looking in the past.... Questions are important...not the answers !
  8. This test is a very old story. IMO it begins with the "Questionnaire de Proust", which is a psychological test which became famous through the answers given by the French writer Marcel Proust. He discovered this test at the end of the 19th century in a book intituled
  9. The same for me PS : wow, all these nice faces ...... If you want to see more from me, look at my profile, the photoalbum on my site, and the gallery.(I dont want to charge more this topic).
  10. wonderful flowers . Here the we have now also a summerweather since a fortnight and the nature is 3 weeks in advance. Thanks for your pictures-gift . Take care, old Bob
  11. Hey Bardeara, Thanks for your words. She got the plague 1984 (she was 35 years old), fought 19 years, got tired of it (too many pills !) and let it go peacefully in 2003, with family and friends around her. It was her choice and we agreed. It remains the memories and the avatar is part of it.
  12. Hey Bardeara, It was the same for me, at the beginning a few years ago. Keep trying ! I put the list on PC (excel), check the old list to creat the new one, and save each list. During the day, when a point comes to my mind, I put it on the list. Its became an habit, before I close my PC, I do it almost automatically, save it and forget it, so I can sleep quietly. First thing to do in the morning, open my PC and print the list. They are open lines, so I can complete it by hand during the day and write it in teh evening. Its important to save each list, because a lot of points remain from one list to the other. As usual, there are about 15 tasks to do on each list, and I can only "knock off" a part of it each day. But the list is very useful, it gives me a way to overlook my goals and to see my progress. Try it again and tell us the results.
  13. My avatar comes from some holidays I spent a few years ago in "la Guadeloupe". To stay at the beach, nice friends, good food. Its my best memories. I was with my daughter, the last time she was in good health, just before AIDS won.
  14. Hey CJ You are as precise as a swiss watch I was too busy last and this week to read the last chapters. I will check the comments ans read chapters 22 and 23 hopefully this evening. "For the love" is definitively the best story on GA . BTW I like all the researches you made to stay up to date
  15. Hey Kevin, I didnt know I was a sleep specialist But you are a good translator ! BTW, my signature is nor so easy to apply Unfortunataly I have 3 phone lines, 1 fax line + internet. Sometimes angry people call and claim about passed delays Take care and have a good day (as you say )
  16. Hey procrastinators ! I like the word Each evening, I make a list of what I have to do the next morning : 1. the things I like to do and which are urgent, 2. the things I like to do and which are not urgent, 3. the rest (I like the double meaning of this word ) . This list is a way to stay in a good mood and to sleep well. The next morning, I forget the list. Look at my signature: I'm a born procrastinator (Oh, how I like this word ! )
  17. There are a lot of reasons why the price of crude oil is going to keep rising: the policy of producer states, the increasing shortage of crude oil reserves, the increasing need of "emerging" states (China, India, South America) What can we do ? A lot. Support the production of gas from plants (mais, sugar cane, aso), buy cars with low gas consumption, develop "car-sharing"... Its like the efforts against carbon dyoxide, each of us can participate, and should.
  18. Hey Ruby, You will find here a lot of friends, understanding, feeling, sometimes helpful. I hope the words of Graeme and Jack helped. Life is complicated and sometimes hard. I'm soon 78, old enough to know that the wounds, even the deep ones, always heal when time pass. What remains is life experience, and finally wisdom. It is what I wish for you. Take care. (very) old Bob
  19. Hey MarkESO ! You seem to be a well informed lawyer. :graduated: May I ask you about another law case ? I heard about a woman who put her dirty dog in her laundering wash machine and found the poor beast dead. She claimed the constructor of the machine and asked a huge amount for damages, with the argument that the constructor didn
  20. I did know nothing about the Day of silence. Then I made a research and found get organised As the the "speaking cards" say : "Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence? " And to the question "what to do in school " I found an answer : "While some students choose to be silent for the day, some participants are simply silent for part of the day, during lunch, or at community events. Students may also participate in"Breaking the Silence" rallies, events at which students come together at the day's end to express themselves and share their experiences with members of their local communities." Does it help ?
  21. Wow, wow, wow One clifhanger after the other. Your story with its rebondings remembers me another one : "Les Myst

    I got a 44...

46 Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding. Really ?
  23. Thanks a lot to both Luc and MarkESQ for your exchange of opinions. Considering your legal problem from a distance of about 6'000 miles and across the Atlantic ocean, as I do, show the deadly importance of it . I dont have often such an occasion to laugh.(not about the problem, which is serious indeed, but about the discussion)
  24. Cats, Echidna, Goats, and what else? This is not a story, it is a menagerie!!! And I suppose in the next chapter, we will meet snakes and scorpions, or even a cougar or a mountain lion (also named panther, catamount, painter, American lion, Mexican lion, Florida panther, silver lion, red lion, red panther, red tiger, brown tiger, deer tiger, ghost cat, mountain screamer, Indian devil, sneak cat, king cat, and painted cat). BTW, I checked Wiki and I found that you can also call them Bobcat (The Bobcat is a carnivorous animal which will hunts anything from insects and small rodents to large deer, but often shows a preference for rabbits and hares). Bobcat......, that could be my totem And now back to the story
  25. Welcome soulmate What a wonderful username! Hope you will participate in forums. See you soon Take care and be happy Old Bob (I suppose I'm the eldest here )
