  1. My understanding is that Brew retired from writing on the net with the end of the Foley-Mashburn Saga. At first it sound like it would just be a break from writing, but he's never posted anything since then. He had a Yahoo Group that he did frequent when he was actively writing, but as far as I know, he never even logged in again once the FMS was completed. CVRBoy occaisonally twiddles around with the code on his site, so I wouldn't take any "last modified" dates as referring to something the authors did on that site.
  2. Seems to me we're on a trail of a crime spree. We've had an arson, now a murder, and I suppose a kidnapping isn't far behind. I'm not sure who, though; although I can see several possibilities in this story. (Rob, perhaps?)
  3. Anya, in this chapter, the events are dated to the year 2000, and two years before was dated to 1998. No jurisdiction in North America had legalized same-sex marriage in that period, and Vermont only granted recognition of civil unions later in 2000. So I doubt there could have been any mindset for a civil union or civil same-sex marriage. Not to mention that both Andy and Matt saw themselves as being married to women. I think it's very important to keep the timeline dates in mind in discussing the relationship Andy has with both Matt and Angie at this point. It colors how what Andy sees as feasible in his life, and where.
  4. Renee, I've been following your writing, off and on, since you were first writing Eternity. That was a few years back, now. Congratulations on your new status at GA! You're joining several other hosted authors here who I have also been following for years, so this further simplifies my ability to keep up with the good writers I like to read. (P.S. I hadn't known about Eternal Christmas, which shows how difficult it can be to keep up.)
  5. As I recall, Adam ran into a similar issue with the Nifty Archivist when he wrote the first of those chapters a few years back, not recently; and I remember the spat he had with the Archivist over the category of the story as a result. So I'm not surprised.
  6. I liked the way Rich and Rob, and Kris, handled each other, and I'm especially glad to see that Kris used his noggin when he realized what had happened in the clothing store. In a way I'm not surprised about Dennis. Kris may have the gold standard of charm (and he has it), but not everyone is cut out to have a share of it. I rarely make this sort of conclusion about characters in a story, but Dennis is a user, and I think Kris isn't. He's better off that the date was called off, and hopefully not reset. I'm looking forward to how the events for the weekend evolve. This ought to be interesting once Oleg gets to town, and I hope the Splash guys are in town before this story ends.
  7. Don't forget that Angie and Matt have known Andy for a long time. And there's been hints in the story that the people who've known Andy the best have been trying to figure out how to essentially have an intervention with Andy over the way's he has been acting for years now. Excellent chapter, Adam. Wonder what that conversation between Andy and Matt is going to be like this time.
  8. While the California Supreme Court considers the certified question(s) from the federal Ninth Circuit on the question of whether the proponents of the Prop 8 ballot initiative have standing on the appeal in the federal courts, some of the other parties are now seeking to have the federal court lift the stay on the judgment while the appeals are heard. So it's quite possible. And Rich and Rob could always elope to Iowa and get married. Iowa does permit non-residents to get married in the state, regardless of the gender of the parties. And because of Iowa's quite strict requirements for amendments to the state constitution, the earliest any change could appear on the ballot is now 2016; and that's because in the state senate, the Democratic majority leader and his caucus have agreed that no resolution to amend the state constitution as to same-sex marriage will come out of any Senate committee during this legislative term (2011-2012). Iowa requires any amendments to be adopted in identical form by two consecutive General Assemblies (each last two years), and given the movement of opinion in public opinion polls, by then it may no longer be an issue. I've seen two polls this past week; one has the national opinion virtually evenly split 45-46 (and it was 42-48 a year ago, and 37-51 two years ago -- Pew Research, IIRC; the other one came out of a university and had support ahead of opposition to same sex marriage, 46-40 percent. One thing is clear public opinion in support of same sex marriage is growing fairly rapidly in the last few years, and it looks as if by 2012, a majority (and not just a plurality) will be support of same sex marriage. I loved the chapter and the way it sudden took a turn towards the express train of pacing; With the AOI and "Splash" guys showing up, I am almost expecting the now college-aged guys from Life's A Grind to show up somewhere, too.
  9. Don't forget that "The Good Wife" (CB) is also set in Chicago; and while the series is based in L.A., the exterior scenes are filmed in Chicago. Tonight's episode had characters standing in a Chicago winter snow.
  10. Reading this thread makes me think of Robert Frost: That about sums it up, Adam?
  11. I wasn't aware we had an assignment to translate the French.
  12. I'm glad to see that some more of the characters from past stories (mostly set in Chicago) are making appearances, and I suspect we're not done with those yet. And I can see already where one character that's been promised comes into the story. Good chapter Jack, I guess we should be glad that we're not dealing with Lakeshore Drive the way it was last night (blizzard whiteout conditions).
  13. oldernotwiser, I'll defend Adam on the time frame. He's had a lot of things going on and Adam's always been an optimist on time frames. In addition, Adam is a perfectionist. He proofread and cleaned up the previously released chapters when CC came to GA, and with the move to the new GA Story platform, Adam felt he had to go back over everything one more time, especially the new chapters he released since coming to GA. Bottom line, Adam is a perfectionist, and perfection takes time.
  14. Jack, The changeover process at GA is really making it hard for the readers to know what's new that has been posted, since even that process is new (the listing is on the side of the homepage for GA.) It still has a lot of the re-posted material being shown, and I was just lucky I saw your announcement/post last week about TTCW, and was on the lookout. Once all the authors get caught up, then I suspect regular visitors will have a lot less trouble finding the newest released material. I did enjoy Chapter 1 a lot, I was glad to see that some of the characters are, so far, related to the Splash crew, and I'm sure some of the others we'll be meeting will be or be connected with some of the other characters we met in your earlier stories set in Chicago.
  15. Jack, your old story page doesn't have a working link to the new story. After wandering through the GA.Stories, I found it here: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/jack-scribe/thatsthechicagoway
  16. I'm not sure that's right, although Dan started posting Belovèd after completing the Working It Out trilogy, I've never read anything from him in his Yahoo notification Group that suggests it is a sequel to WIO. The stories appear to be completly independent, and there's been no character cross-over or cross-referencing. And Dan has been using his Yahoo Group rather than a forum here. I'm not sure why that is; but I only found out about Chapter 48 by happenstance, when I saw it listed among the recent uploads to this site yesterday.
  17. nightsky, I believe Adam is re-proofreading all of the chapters in the process of transferring them to the new GA Stories system. And as noted above, he is a perfectionist. And one of the recent chapters was rushed, and he admitted he needed to fix that chapter even before the GA conversion started. I'm assuming we'll see the next chapter when we see the next chapter.
  18. Renee -- I remember reading this when you first posted it (Was it CVRBoy, or somewhere else, I really can't remember); I liked it a great deal then, and still do. I haven't re-read it in a long time, but with the quiet time of year coming up for me, and a new schnauzer to bond with in about a week, I may re-read it here.
  19. The Eggman sent out a message today that his two stories (A New Life, and Life Goes On) set in the same universe as Brian and Pete's, are returning to the internet, along with new chapters of the yet-to-be-completed second story, Life Goes On. They will be hosted at a new site; and the Eggman also stated that he's agreed to Dewey's request that these stories be posted again at Deweywriter.
  20. This one has been discussed before (as Adam will remember) at other places but with the the title of chapter 12, it's time to add it into the mix:
  21. I'm surprised no one else had started a thread on these two latest chapters, so I'll take the plunge, again. I get that somehow Micah, Corey, Mrs. Howard and the Senator's memories wasn't affected by the modified time line with the three climate currents, but I have to admit that I thought Kilgore would turn out to be Micah's mother who had married a different man in the new timeline. Can't wait to see what comes next. Since the last two chapters went up so quickly, I've edited the thread title to reflect that. I
  22. Interesting pair of chapters. I have my guesses as to who the mysterious new leader is. Gotta love the cliffhanger. I wonder who'll be on the other end of the cellphone, if and when.
  23. Micah's now going through a different life in teens than he did before his relationships are different, and even though he'll now be back at the Academy, it's qith a different set of circumstances and with the knowledge of what happened the first time.
  24. Adam just loves being a tease. (As someone who has read CC since the prologue was originally posted an eternity ago (even before the first time chapter one was posted in the pre-Cro-Magnon era, I know that part just about better than anyone.)
  25. jack, I have to admit I wasn't expecting such a quick ending. Or as Jeff Probst would say, I was blindsided. Enjoyed the ending, but I have to say I hope we hear of Spike and Cray in the future. (Please, please, pretty please.) This trilogy was Drew and Bob's story, and I think Cray and Spike (and the ones that have been mentioned deserve their own time in the sun as leads.
