Well, it's no longer morning, but happy Friday afternoon. I got up late, and doing stuff around here kept me busy. It's 90% humidity today and windy. I am late to the party, as is usual, as this was written in 2018, but if you are a fan of Stephen King, you will enjoy Demon King by Erik Henry Vick. I've never read him before, but it seems he is well-known in fantasy and sci-fi. I cannot put this book down, even though I make myself do it. It's available on Kindle Unlimited if you want to try it. There's a nice long series to go with this first book.

I'm baking again today, this time two pans of date squares, one for the freezer. Then, we won't have to bake anything like this for a while, as our freezer has several dessert items. Bread will still be done weekly.

Four terrific seasonal poems. Winter is my favourite. I loved the description of the woodpecker and onomatopoeia brought the poem alive. Thank you for all of these.

All wonderful and well written. Haiku 5 and 6, well those touched me most. Secret; is a great poem, but i'm not sure i agree with the message. Wisdom, is full of truth. Thank you for all of them.

Mikiesboy commented on Bill W's story chapter in Chapter 1: The Seasons of My Life
A wonderful seasonal trip through a life well-lived and loved. No regrets. Here's to a very long winter, Bill. Thank you. -
Touching, sweet and sad; a lifetime with a sweet pet. Thank you.

April 1st to April 9th
Mikiesboy commented on Parker Owens's story chapter in April 1st to April 9th
Sorry to hear you've been ill. I hope you are doing better. I enjoyed each of these. My fav is the ode to bread. I'm making our weekly bread today as it happens. It's my favourite thing to bake. Cream Cans comes in a close second but all are wonderful poems about spring, love and us. -
omg.. where is @mollyhousemouse when the puns are flying.

Is it Tuesday? I think so. I've been doing the taxes...always a good time, but being unemployed (yay) changed our tax stuff and we're getting a nice refund. We'll probably save most of it cuz next year we may have to pay. LOL Anyway.. it's sunny. The Joke of the day is: Our Premier of Ontario has helped us all out financially by forcing our Liquor Board to start handing out paper bags again, rather than charging us for resuable ones, since families are struggling so much. (Maybe just not buying booze would be more beneficial to struggling people.. but that's another story). That'll mean a lot to us! LOL we haven't bought any booze since Christmas 2022! What a joke. Anyway, that's the funny/pathetic story for the day.

Thanks for sharing that! It was kind of neat here even with the clouds.. the birds stopped singing suddenly. It got darker but never really dark. But it was neat when the light returned and the birds began again. It felt a bit stephen kingish with weird darkness and silence.

That's very true. All of them can bite. Our friend's dog who we babysit sometimes, is a rescue and he can be weird. He's always on his gentle leader outside and he's never left with children. Cuz you just never know. Kids are small and fast and loud.. and can get dogs over excited.. not on purpose, but no, i'd never leave a dog with a kid.

Another child killed by two Cane Corso dogs April 1.. It's in the paper today. He was a sweet kid by all accounts, 11 years old. He'd known the dogs for a while, but belonged to his dad's roommate. Dad went out to the garage for 10 minutes when he returned the boy was dead. Official cause, dog bite. These two dogs also attacked and bit a women at the same property a week prior. This is happening too often. Don't leave your kids alone with this giant dogs. I know, I've heard it all before... they are gentle, they are sweet, they've been raised properly. Maybe, but don't trust them with your kids. That goes for any of the bull breeds/mastifs and other large guarding/protection breeds.

Happy Monday or Eclipses are a Pain Day (all the brats are home from school today to protect them.) And to rub that in a little more here is what arrived today... As totality will be seen only in Niagara Falls.. that little town is expecting over a million people.. we have been seeing newspaper articles about this event for months. So far it's cloudy here...so it may just be a giant dud. We'll see or not ... Have a good day wherever you are and just be smart if it gets dark.
