  1. i love my air fryer cuz all it is really a little oven, but i use to for sweet potato fries, the most amazing chicken thighs... it makes frozen battered fish taste like deep-fried, and it doesn't give off much heat. So between the air fryer and the instant pot, not much heat during the summer. i probably didn't do them right, but i did not like baked potatoes from the microwave. It's a moot point now because i cannot eat baked potatoes really. I can eat soaked and then boiled potatoes but just a small serving. All this food talk reminds me i need to make another plum and peach crisp. I love the Italian prune plums we can get in late august and sept ... They are purple outside and green in the centre and when you cook them, they turn this wonderful shade of fuchsia. And they taste amazing cooked and raw. And it's bread time, too. So a couple of things to do tomorrow.
  2. i dont think you can put foil in the microwave. yikes. I agree and often make things the day before, like soups and stews but i find the microwave hard on proteins, it makes them tougher and really messes up bread. So, like Cassie i rather reheat things on the stove or in the oven.
  3. We don't use the microwave an awful lot. I think i use the kitchen timer in it more that the machine itself. I'm not sure why. Maybe because i've never used it to cook things and we don't have many leftovers (though i wish we did sometimes) to reheat them. When we have nachos i do put them in there to melt the cheese, but it doesn't make a mess. I think they are a good idea if you use your micro a lot.
  4. Had no idea those even existed. I usually cover plates with waxed paper and bowls with another plate... i don't use plastic in the microwave. I have some corningware things that have glass lids that i use too. very interesting. i think, if i had such a thing, that i would leave in the microwave, cuz what else is it used for? It will just take up space on the counter.
  5. Happy Saturday... we are up early. This should be illegal. Have a great LONG day folks.. hahaha
  6. no idea what you are talking about, so i can't help you
  7. Ahoy there matey ... it's talk like a pirate day... or as Michael says, it's talk like Robert Newton day as he is credited with that pirate accent when he played Long John Silver in Treasure Island in 1950. Here is the man himself, in character. Arrrr, if ye not want to be parleying like a pirate, then remember dead men tell no tales as you'll be finding out for yerself as ye walk the plank. Whatever you get up to on this lovely, cool Friday, enjoy it!
  8. Happy Thursday and Have a great day everyone!
  9. Good lord, i've never seen anything like this....
  10. Good morning all of y'all! It's Wednesday and Country Music Day! Throw on your fav country album, or radio station and do some line dancing or a lil two-step! Have a great day!!
  11. i read it as soon as i knew it had to do with dogs ... maybe this explains James seeming to be a cat person. In any case, it's a great little story.
  12. Would she say the same thing if you said, "You told Paul it was okay." ?
  13. i understand. We haven't had a whole lotta rain either. And now they are saying there won't be much snow...that's not really a good thing. From August 1 we had 66.7mm or 2.62 inches. It's not a lot, more than you but still not a lot.

    Chapter 1

This was excellent. I had one dog, later on in life, he came with my Husband. He was a great friend to me and i cannot seem to get over his passing. But we care for other people's dogs now from time-to-time. Currently looking after a great dog, who is part golden and part Anatolian shepherd, he's with us while his owner looks after her dying mom. There's another we care for occasionally who is very sweet. Thanks for this and the memories, James.
  17. Monday! This one a day of celebration if you like Agatha Christie's style! It's her birthday today. So, get out there and write or read a mystery! Whatever you do, have a good one!!
  18. It was yummy... give it a try. lol
  19. Yes to the cake, pudding and whipped cream... i wouldn't like the whipped mixture thing with chocolate... peanut butter cups i'd like rather than oreos. Not a fan of those. Of course, the only thing i could eat would be whipped cream .. cant have much chocolate or booze anymore. I'm sure people loved your trifle though! i made an eggnog trifle one year for the boys, who wouldn't eat jello and fruit in a traditional English trifle. It was whipped cream, vanilla pudding made with eggnog and vanilla cake... it was yummy.
  20. Here are the afghan squares i managed to finish yesterday... These are not washed and blocked yet. You don't really have to do that, but it evens them out and it will be easier to crochet them together when i have enough of them. So, have a lovely Sunday everyone! I'll be in and out during the day i'm sure!
