Thanks Centex for the continuing support The interaction between Aiden and Jean-Pierre was fun to write. The other two deputies just want to get free and do as much damage as possible while trying to escape. Aiden, either from is very nature or the fact he is an Alpha in his own right wants to escape to get help, but also wants to insure the safety of the other hostages. I would say even Jean-Pierre is impressed by their conversations as he's not use to finding anyone that can converse with him as an equal. This has been exceptionally hard on Ethan, but equally hard on all those who care about him. He seems out of reach as his emotions have shut down, yet in his mind he wants nothing more than to sleep but is afraid of what he'll see if his eyes close. Short of Aiden coming home, Casey is probably the only person that could have given Ethan that lifeline to make his way back and not be lost forever. Lets hope that Darius can convince the other Solaris to help. The fact that he began speaking is definitely progress.

Thank you rbenn. To Ethan, it's just his own fears about not knowing what is happening to Aiden. Who knows what he'll do once he gets some food in him.

Ethan stared out the front window, as if waiting to see Aiden come walking up the driveway. There was no emotion, no acknowledgement of anyone nearby, no anything. It was like he was not even there. His mind and emotions appeared to have completely shut down while he struggled to find a way to deal with his mate’s disappearance. No one was sure what they could do to comfort him. Mary and the rest of the family sat with him much of the time. The lunis community came around to the Tucker house da

Thank you dez for the wonderful compliment. I think the characters growth is as much fun for me as it is the readers.

Thank you Gee. In a lot of ways, the rogue gang is like a criminal biker gang. They have a lot of the same element in their ranks and when I first created Jean-Pierre he kind of exemplified that with his treatment of Michael, however that was one rich kid walking into his domain thinking that flashing a little money around could get this gang to serve his wishes. As leader of the gang, he’s also the head of a business that exists to make a profit in whatever he does, be it drug running, slave trafficking or kidnapping for ransom. As the plot grew involving him, he too had to grow beyond my first introduction of him. If he hadn’t continued to factor into the plot, it’s likely he would have remained more like he first came across. You’re right though, even with his treatment of Aiden, Jean-Pierre is a heartless dick, but he’s one that as studied war, understands guerilla tactics, and knows when a fight is not in his best interests. I think I misunderstood your previous question. Even though it was never talked about in the story line, I would guess that the Alpha and Sheriff both had some thought that Michael could have had something to do with the ferals that began coming in with tracking devices. While no one in the pack knows where he actually is or what he’s doing, it all started after he violated is release and exile.

Centex, as always, Thank You Even though the rogue leader was considering going full in early on, he's enough of a business man to not made hasty decisions especially when he's out numbered. Now one of his lieutenants trying to build a reputation for himself has committed the leader to a course of action he was hoping to avoid. Aiden would probably love to lash out the first chance he gets, but he's keeping the hope that Ethan is safe and the safety of the other prisoners in his mind to stay focused on what needs to be done. It's unlikely anyone in the Lycan Council knew of the attack before it happened, but there are members of the Council that do business with various rogue groups under the table. I would love to post more than once a week, however I'm just managing to keep about two weeks ahead on my writing to give me time to edit. I really wish I hadn't had writers block for several months at the end of last year

Avid, Thank you. If Ethan does manage to confront the rogues head on, it could be interesting to see how they fall.

Thanks rbenn. I had to go back through everything since I didn't have it listed in my bio file on everyone. In ch. 8 it briefly mentions that Michael expected to take over as Alpha when his father stepped down, the same as when his grandfather stepped down allowing the current Alpha to take over. If I did write the parents were killed in a rogue attack, I'll fix that if I can ever find it. My bio and time line files are about the only thing that keeps things in order for me Trevor had returned to university just after Ethan's first shift. There probably isn't much he could do beyond trying to comfort his friends for now at least.

Thanks Tylor. I'd say odds are you're probably right

You're a wonderful writer and this story has me hooked already. All the characters are so lifelike and likable right from the start, with the exception of the evil twin.

Really liked this first chapter. I can't wait to read more. This is definitely going on my must read now list

“Who authorized the attack on three packs?” Jean-Pierre growled at his top lieutenants who lined both sides of the conference table. He read over the reports listing hardware lost, people and property captured, and casualties incurred. “Are you telling me we lost over one hundred men, plus nearly fifty ferals?” He threw the report across the room. His fury seethed and eyes flashed as he wanted to rip out the throats of all those seated around him. “I’m gone for twenty-four hours and this type o

Thank you LadyDe for bringing a smile to my face with this

Thanks, Gee. The Alpha's son has been brought up several times, though rarely by name. He's become the pet of the rogue gang and has been providing them with as much information on the pack as he could. He's the reason the rogues became involved and started testing the defenses of the pack. For Darius, I'm going to go with expandable arm band that held his radio and GPS.

Thanks, ILike I will happily be called a sly SOB for a reaction like yours. Ethan was the obvious choice to be kidnapped and it was originally intended to be him when I first started mapping out the story, but it became too obvious so Aiden became the unlucky one. Now to see how each one handles the situation

Thank you Centex The battle scene was fun as it developed through each successive edit. I also had fun with the Halloween portion since other than writing, one of my hobbies is carving pumpkins at Halloween and I had done those four I described with the story in mind. I know some things in the story, like the attack are kind of predictable. The reaction from you and some of the others made me smile, knowing I can still surprises people with something unexpected

Onim, as always, thank you for your continued support. I kind of hoped for that type of reaction, but wasn't sure I'd hit it.

Thank you shade Working on final edits for next Monday's chapter now.

Work at the sheriff’s department meant Aiden was on a rotating schedule, sometimes on days and other times overnight. Depending what shift he was assigned for a given week, it felt like he and Ethan did not get much time together anymore. They made the best of it since they both had jobs they enjoyed. To them, it meant working that much harder to fully appreciate what time they did have together, even if it was just a kiss as one came home and the other was leaving. Rafe changed Ethan’s schedule

Thank you LadyDe. The only potential reason to make a grab for Ethan based on what the rogues know is that "The Insane One" kept going on about how the Alpha was protecting him, so he could be a bargaining chip if taken. I'm keeping quiet for now on any outcome for Paul

Thank you Centex for your continued support. Helen had known Aiden and Casey since they were pups, so the presents of them at the meeting with Ethan would lead to one general conclusion. Ethan's the new one, so it must be him. I actually did consider having him switch sides before he was caught, but it never seemed to work right. You never know, he still might decide to turn. I almost deleted that part about Casey, Cody and Darius. It wasn't until the final read through before posting that I decided to keep it. I liked the fun Ethan was having with it while not actually teasing Casey about it, just smiling till Casey brought it up The rogue leader has a thriving business empire to run. While attacking other packs is part of that, taking on the larger packs has major risks. Even with great intelligence and surveillance, deciding when to risk assets and risk retaliation is the key to staying alive.

It took the solaris spy posing as Paul Mitchell a week to find out he had been hired at the mill. This gave him a successful foothold within the Parker Valley Pack’s borders. The general laborer position didn’t draw any attention to him; go to work, do the job, and go home. Like all the companies Alpha Stockdale owned, this one had good pay and benefits even for the low-end workers. Within a few days of being hired, he managed to rent an apartment about fifteen miles from Silver Pines, and bega
