As fun as it was to write, I've grown to like the character. Especially his early years. But he was a royal ass by the time he was originally introduced in the first book so it had to happen here too.

I always enjoy your thoughts. Dorian felt from the start he wouldn't be a good alpha, but would do the best he could for the people. He was a good leader in the Hunter Corps where he was well respected. He was also placed as an advisor to his alpha because of his leadership skills. There is a big difference between that role and becoming a corporate CEO which is what he was thrust into. Levi is someone Dorian considers as close to a brother as he can be. While the two didn't always agree, his trust in their friendship was absolute. When Dorian struggled to understand how to run the many companies, naturally he turned to the man he was closest to that had business experience to guide and teach him. What started out as leadership degraded to dependence on the man and his family.

All the people he should be listening to are being pushed aside as complainers and whiners. Dorian's turned into what he didn't want to become, but it's not uncommon for packs to have an authoritarian leader.

It was supposed to be a quiet evening for Dorian to relax and spend time with his mother. His day had been a frustrating mountain of paperwork dealing with merging the Lassen Pack into his own. He briefly thought of using their name in the combined entities, but decided he was born Pit River and would remain so. Thank you, Yeoldebard. Under Alpha Wagner, Dorian was guided and helped to find ways to deal with his anger issues and used them for the greater good. Sadly that's been taken away from him. As to the reason he chose Levi as his beta, usually the alpha would pick his closes friend who he knows will give the counsel he needs. Dorian chose the person he viewed as his best friend. Their relationship was never perfect, but to Dorian it was the person he trusted above all others. It probably didn't hurt that they were also sex buddies at times.

From the title and the focus on Henk, I knew he'd be the one. Though with a writer like you it could have just as easily been anyone at Heros. It's a powerful chapter and very well done. When you're living on the edge of that abyss, it doesn't take much to step off the edge. And there were a lot of things here that pushed him. You want to hate the camera man at the end, but in reality it's his job. Just like every story in the news where they shove a camera in the face of a person who is suffering. Their actions are detestable, but they do serve a purpose.

I want to send you the biggest virtual hug I can, and one for Mike too. I'm lucky that I've got the horses I care for as my companions through this and I wish I could share that with you. Thank you, Quixo. I've thought about expanding on their relationship, but while I was writing this and after. I doubt it will happen. Chris found his happiness and I'd kind of rather leave it up to peoples imagination how they used those leather scented candles and the handcuffs. Chris having his exile lifted is only mentioned in this last chapter as a result of Ethan and Aiden inviting him and Rory to the wedding.

Something no one wanted to talk about or admit to since it chipped away at their images as strong young wolves and men. Chris had to finally admit it so it no longer held power over him.

Life as a predator. You try to remain at the top of the food chain so you don't end up becoming prey. But it's not always clear when you're on top who is hunting with you or hunting you.
