On Monday, a young lad started up in the kitchen where I work. Not sure how old he is, but I'd guess at least 14, which is the minimum age of employment in this State. He's terribly cute, with sandy blonde hair reaching down to his shoulders, and a pleasantly round face. His hands and elbows are covered in half-healed scrapes and scratches. As I recall, a few of Mickey's friends often had similar injuries from constant tumbles on concrete or asphalt, so I surmise it may be due to skateboarding or something like it. He's still finding his way around, but he learns quickly. The wee fellow also doesn't curse, unlike some older lads I work with. I've been guarding my own language since he joined us at the restaurant; I would hate for him to become too comfortable using bluefish words.

Sasha Knight was born in 2009, raised in Los Angeles, and began performing in local community theater at age four. In October 2019, he starred in the movie Cowboys. The movie was selected for the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, where Sasha's co-producers, Steve Zahn and Anna Kerrigan, won awards for Best Actor and Best Screenplay, respectively. Sasha also won Best Performance at the 2020 Outfest Film Festival. He has appeared on NCIS: New Orleans, Big Little Lies, The Boss Baby: Family Business, Young Sheldon, and has also provided his voice for the video game Kingdom Hearts 3. Like his character in Cowboys, Sasha identifies as male, but was assigned female at birth. Yup, Sasha is trans! I've never met anyone who identified as transgender at such a young age, but I hope this guy gets a chance to really shine in Hollywood! This movie, which recently hit theaters, is based on a true story. Reid Miller plays Jadin Bell, a young man who publicly comes out, and subsequently commits suicide after being relentlessly bullied at school. His family (Maxwell Jenkins, Connie Britton) is devastated, but Jadin's father (Mark Wahlberg), sets out on a journey across the country to speak out against bullying and raise awareness for LGBT+ youth. Despite the obvious tragedy involved, I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. It's "gritty" and it's definitely gonna hurt, but it's the kind of movie we need, you know?

Originally, I was going to post this as an "Underrated". But then, I learned that young Ben unfortunately passed away on January 9th, 2021, aged 16 years and 8 months. Ben's only major credits are Steel (2015) and Channel Zero (2016). He also could be seen on CTV mornings in a Manitoba Teacher Society commercial, in American record producer Nick Koenig’s work, as well as small Manitoba-made films. Ben modelled for Winnipeg Outfitters and Showtime Productions. He was very proud of his accomplishments. Ben was very generous and compassionate. In his spare time, he loved to participate in as many local charities or social events as possible. He even spent hours helping build floats for the annual Hecla parade, so he could show off his creative personality!
