  1. Sounds like fun. I had a bacon and egg sandwich for breakfast, with fried potatoes, milk, and orange sherbet from room service. (And I no longer have any nausea to contend with, so everything stayed in my tummy where it belongs.)
  2. The Queen Bees of Tybee County, by Kyle Casey Chu. Available April 15th! After making the buzzer-beating shot at the Georgia basketball state championships, Derrick Chan becomes the star of Bayard Middle School, and Derrick’s dad could not be prouder. But there are parts of Derrick that no one knows about, like the toenail polish he wears under his basketball sneakers, his secret lip-sync performances in the bathroom mirror, and the feelings he’s developing for his best friend and teammate, JJ. As the school year comes to a close, Derrick’s dad takes an out-of-town job and ships Derrick off to spend the summer with his estranged, eccentric grandmother, Claudia. Soon, Claudia introduces Derrick to the world of small-town southern beauty pageants, and Derrick suddenly feels he’s found where he belongs. But when the opportunity arises to compete in the town pageant, Derrick is forced to decide just how much of himself he’s ready to show the world. Can he learn to love and accept the most unique parts of himself? And what will happen if others—like his father and JJ—can’t do the same?
  3. @MrM Just what I needed for a laugh!
  4. It did indeed go to plan. Surgery went well, and I can finally type on my phone without feeling like my eyes are spinning like some demented Looney Tunes character. *checks the calendar* Nope, Max is still 13. Which means you're still turning 30!
  5. Surgery's today at 11:45.
  6. Well, my parents showed up, and they brought some pastries from a local bakery. I ate a cheese Danish (very cautiously), and my body hasn't rejected it. Yet. 🤞
  7. Max and Colton are at school right now. Uncle Mickey is visiting, currently.
  8. My body rejected it, sadly. And I didn't even order food; the doctor had it sent to my room. 😞
  9. Bacon and egg sandwich = Next time, I'll just order dry toast.
  10. I've mostly been sleeping, since screen time hurts my eyes even on the dimmest settings, but I did manage to watch this video of a cute couple touring an aquarium.
  11. There are other surgeons available who could do the operation if need be, but they all have their specialties, and the situation isn't critical right now.
  12. Unfortunately, the surgeon is out of town at a conference until Wednesday. Depending on whether she gets back in the morning, noon, or evening, the surgery could be later the same day, or it could be done on Thursday.
  13. Hey, Nick! How's our wonderful Froggy today?
  14. Sorry to hear that, Gary. I hope some of them can be saved.
  15. Thank you, Clo.
  16. No, but I'm persevering. I haven't had any issues with the condition in nearly twenty years.
  17. Surgery for the shunt repair will be Saturday, or possibly Monday.
  18. I'm currently in hospital right now. Had to leave work abruptly yesterday, due to illness. Uncle Mickey picked up the kids from school, and Morgan drove me to Urgent Care, then the hospital. Doctors said the illness is Hydrocephalus, caused by a broken piece of tubing in my shunt. I'm feeling mostly fine, apart from a mild headache, dizziness, and nausea, which are being treated with medication.
  19. Same to you. Feel better soon, Dugh.
  20. It was mostly cartoons and anime for me. Jeremy Sumpter was my biggest celebrity crush, but Avatar Aang and Edward Elric were my first crushes on characters, rather than actors. Devon Werkheiser (Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide) and Paul...Paul Butcher, I think?---from Zoey 101---get honorable mentions. As does Nathan Kress, from "iCarly", and he's only gotten sexier since he grew up!
  21. Four days later? Hardly. We still have some salad greens and mandarin oranges, so I think I'll make a citrus salad to go with the quiche for tonight's dinner.
  22. Hey, Dugh and Mum.
  23. That's not exactly news, you know.
  24. Also, Max got an ear pierced. That was the "Big" present for his birthday. A Celtic knot in rose gold.
