Oh, dear. Well! It seems that Max and his friend Michael had an interesting development while I wasn't looking.
Apparently, Max popped the question to Michael and asked if Michael would be his boyfriend. Michael responded by asking for permission to kiss Max, and Max said yes.
Yes, yes, they did have an awkward kiss at that one sleepover some time ago. But that was just the result of silly adolescent hormones and too much caffeine. This is the real thing. My son's best friend has been upgraded to "Boyfriend" status.
They're now planning their first date: a picnic in the park behind the public library.
I definitely prefer romance over action films. If my choices were between:
1. The smoldering burn of Jake and Devon in the "Chucky" TV series. (Action/Horror/Comedy)
2. A very sweet film about first love, titled "Young Hearts".
There's no question that I would choose the romance film over the campy comedy-thriller, every time!
That said, though, there's a startling lack of representation for LGBT kids or teens in fantasy and science fiction novels. That's what I'd like to see added to the shelves!
I like the idea of "Meatless Monday". I've been implementing it at least two or three times a month.
That would never hold water with my father, who has...outdated ideas about how eating meat = masculine. 🤦♂️
Currently, my family is still on holiday in Washington state. I just learned about an incident at the local "Mart of Walls" in our hometown. I'm just writing to say that I heard from a relative, and nobody in our extended family was hurt.
We've been having similar issues over in Headstall's Paddock. Random comments---and once, an entire page---disappear for a while. Then, they pop up again as mysteriously as they disappeared. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it.
Tomorrow's our last day of vacation. We saw the Olympic National Forest, Seattle and Tacoma, Mt. Rainier...Oh, and can’t forget about the whales.
We ate lunch one day at Von's 1000 Spirits, a gastropub with pizzas and burgers.
Max, of course, couldn't leave the city without trying some oysters.
I'm pretty certain that cone is filled with mashed potatoes. That's what they do to shoot ice cream ads. Using actual ice cream, across many dozens of takes, would result in a metric ton of soupy cream.
I just bought a bracelet with a whale charm carved into one of the beads. There's a QR code in the packaging that lets you track a particular animal with an app.
