    Chapter 3

I am not the least bit embarrassed, either!
  2. "That was fun," Kyle said, after they had walked nearly a block back towards home. Justin sighed. "You were amazing, Robin." Kyle looked over at him and grinned. "All in a day's work, Speedy!" Justin nodded, not saying the things he was thinking, because they still needed some sorting out. His friend really had amazed him today. That Kyle saw this superhero stuff as a way to do real things - good things - was clear now. It wasn't just make-believe to him. There was some reality in

    Chapter 3

    Do you deliver?

    Chapter 3

Now that I know my stories make people hungry, I can take that Doritos contract!

    Chapter 3

I agree with you! There will be a link to the picture this story is based upon at the end of the last chapter. If, after viewing that, ANYONE could possibly think of any darkness or violence in a story about these two, you are not viewing the same photo I was!

    Chapter 3

    Never from me!

    Chapter 3

I guess I was in a good mood the day I wrote this one.

    Chapter 3

Can I have a gin with a tonic chaser with mine?

    Chapter 3

I think solving problems without assault and battery does sometimes work!

    Chapter 3

Comic books did not always present a swift blow to the jaw as a solution for everything. For some reason, that's just the solution that most of us remember best!

    Chapter 3

That's why we need to get these guys a good pair of social glasses!

    Chapter 3

Apparently, the artist that draws your life is the strong, silent type?

    Chapter 3

Never hit anyone that can be reasoned with first.

    Chapter 3

Not all bullies are so easily dealt with. The reluctant sort, like Mikey, often do it because they don't know a better way. Teaching them is far better than hitting them, I think!
  15. It took them slightly longer than a half hour to get where they were going. Not only was their destination four blocks east, but it was also three blocks north. "What were you doing so far from home?" Kyle demanded of their new companions. "You guys aren't old enough to be walking around town like that alone." "It's just a few blocks," Andy protested, like it was no big deal. "You're parents are probably worried," Justin put in. His parents would have been, and mad, if he had gone

    Chapter 2

Yes, a quarter could buy you all the adventure you could handle in a day, back then. Cool, huh?

    Chapter 2

Yes, sir. My dad started collecting comics in the mid fifties, and easily collected issues back into the late 40's. He collected up until about 1962 or so, I guess. Later, he went to Vietnam, and then traveled the world after he was discharged. He met my mom in Amsterdam, and that's where my sister, my brother, and I were born. The culture there was very different from here, but my dad was (is) a diehard Yank, and insisted that we kids learn American culture. So I knew about Batman, Superman, and the like before I ever came here. Among a great many other things! When we did finally move here, I started reading late 70's comic books, and read both the DC and the Marvel. They were twenty-five to thirty-five cents then, as I recall. My dad waited until he was sure I was hooked, and then went off one Saturday to his parent's house, and returned with eight large boxes full of comic books. I was allowed to read them carefully, while he taught me about collecting and conserving them. I still have those comics today. I always enjoyed the Marvel group, but I have always had a fondness for Superman and Batman comics of the 40's and 50's. They were so much FUN!

    Chapter 2

I grew up reading late 70's and early 80's comics, but my dad had a big collection from the 50's and early 60's, that he kindly let me read carefully. One of those father-son things that's hard to forget!

    Chapter 2

Yep. I mean, a superhero has to have SOME reasonable standards, right?

    Chapter 2

Old guys reminiscing about the old days are what make old guys so much fun! And, I guess I'm reminiscing a little here, myself! 🦸‍♂️

    Chapter 2

I think the street vendor knew that the boys were just living in the same bit of dreamworld he had lived in himself as a youth. It's surprising, what can cause those memories to surface. I think if New York's Finest drive by while Speedy and Robin are on the scene, they'll get an eyeful they won't forget in a hurry! 😲

    Chapter 2

I have met some very special street vendors in NYC. Some, I used to stop and talk to every day when I lived there. It's a slice of my life I remember fondly, actually. Especially in the area around Central Park. Superheroes adapt, and make-do. Let's hope!

    Chapter 2

Every old guy with a cigar has SOME happy memories of his youth. I just let this guy talk about them!
  24. It was a warm evening, and they stopped at a street vendor only a block from the hotel. They had to do two blocks west before heading north, and Justin could already feel the dampness inside his costume. It would now have to be washed before he could wear it again the next day. Stupid hotel people! The cart sold drinks. The old guy standing by the cart was calling out that fact, and looked hot himself. They'd observed him taking a swig off a dripping bottle of orange drink as they walked up

    Chapter 1

    You are incorrigible, young man!
