Publishing the first new chapter since the latest upgrade, an embedded link to the story topic doesn't display in the after notes. It has always done so previously. When I go in to edit the chapter, the link is there, showing properly; saving it again, all I see is a large grey space. The chapter in question is here. Observed both on a Windows laptop running Chrome, and an Android tablet, also running Chrome.

The next morning, Eric dozed peacefully in the passenger seat as Andy drove along to his first appointment of the day. A change of scenery seemed like a good idea, and the old man leapt at the prospect as soon as he made it. His visits were both small scale, offering Eric the opportunity to stretch his legs by looking at the different gardens. Andy glanced at his passenger. He was slowly improving. I find the demands of a sustained, concentrated piece of work really push my writing forwards (my antho stories are never, ever short ). The story currently underway is no exception. -
I wouldn't normally dream of reading a Western, but I took a chance on this one. It was @Headstall, after all. I can remember enjoying it a lot, and even wishing there was more.

Yes, the classic 'do as I say, not as I do'. How different schools are today ... I'm sure having sex and relationship education would've helped my life as a teen enormously.

It does indeed. It's understandable though that seeing them evokes strong emotions in Eric - good and bad.

The current dispute in the West Midlands comes from a module which is designed to promote equalities and acceptance of difference. I find it sad that the LGBTQ element was the one that provoked hostility, and of course, the bandwagon soon acquired extra passengers with their own agenda. Everyone in the position to know says it is completely age appropriate.

I don't know. It caught @Ivor Slipper's attention as well. A gay teen growing up in the 1960s in a rural, conservative town? Lads more resourceful than him may have found their way to one of the big cities; or their self-esteem was better, or ... So many other things. Not the norm, but hardly unique, would be my guess. What a wonderful way of putting it, dugh. Thank you.

For his lack of love / sex? Yes, but he is loved now - in a different way admittedly - and his stay with the lads is a part of that. I'm pleased I made you think.

Eric joined his hosts for supper later the same day. He hadn't got used to the changes in his routine which came from living with them. Or his stomach certainly hadn't. He was aware of it growling for ages before Andy even started preparing their supper. There didn't appear to be much in the way of snacks in the house. I love that you describe this piece as a cityscape poem. This sylvan landscape you conjure has no place in most cities. Trees see so much of our existence and often outlast us by centuries. I'm one of those who's never climbed one, but then we can't all be perfect.

@Geron Kees On the rare occasion I test out another story, I usually pick a chapter in the middle somewhere. Then maybe I continue for another one or two before deciding whether to begin at the beginning.

Yes, it takes much more than one common factor to make a friendship. I have a long-term acquaintance who is a fellow musician. We meet on playing matters, but diverge almost everywhere else, so not a friend.

I'm amazed how the likes of @droughtquake and @Timothy M. seem to keep up effortlessly with all the stories they follow. I know I wouldn't manage that. I confess to being a little surprised (and pleased, of course) that you commented on this chapter as I haven't been aware of you following the story previously.

I don't know ... What he doesn't like is the sort of gardening where plants take second or third place. 'Rooms' are perfectly possible where the planting is the highlight. I hadn't thought of that ...

Yes ... though many people put that sort thing out there without any thought to what might happen to it. Stuart's search has only narrowed; he's still got some way before he discovers Geoff's address. Poor Geoff is back to being anxious and socially insecure again. Hopefully it's only temporary.
