You know the overarching irony for those who have followed all along since WAR is watching the boy who had no father become the father figure that Jake desperately needs. It was Brett's rebuke of Jake that drove Jake to Danny for comfort, like the comfort he found in him during his parents' divorce. Would it have gone as far as it did without Mr. Reilly's rejection?
When affection turns to desire and lust. Danny strung Jake along until it all came together in a wild night of passion. Lots of "need" and "want" language, not a lot of love though... I enjoyed the chase, and the crash!
I knew at some point they had to go there. Of course, it has to happen in the one moment when Jake has is otherwise committed rather than Danny. Not sure they got it out of their system, though.
Yeah, the foreshadowing is a little harder with this one because even I don't know where it might go sometimes. It came together pretty well in this chapter at least. (heh heh... came together...) (sorry, I reverted into a teenage boy for a second there...) I'm not sure where it will all end up, but it should be fun!
It was always boiling below the surface. It's fun to play with these characters. I could never have had a cheating scene with Billy or Brett, although Billy came close with Dustin. With these boys I can play more. And really, B&B are the exception, not the rule when it comes to young love.
Part of Jake's emerging identity is how he is not like his father, like how he would say things about his dad's sex life. How will he react now that his self identity has been thrown for a loop?
“Oh my god… What did we do?”
I awoke in the morning with the morning light shining through the dorm window. We were still naked, and Danny still had his arm draped around my chest. That arm which had brought me such comfort… The warmth of his body…
I slid out from under his grip and sat up on the edge of the bed. I put my head in my hands. It had to have been some kind of dream. When I stood up things moved inside of me. I hurried to the shared restroom between our dorm and the dorm next
We had a Drive-In in my hometown. I only went a few times. They would play two movies each on two opposite-facing screens. If you didn't like the movie you were watching, you could just turn the other direction and watch the other movie. I thought every neighborhood had one and never realized how unique it was.
