I was pretty complex and screwy when I was 15-16. We tend to imprint our current selves onto our past and feel like we were always destined to be what we became. I believe we can go a lot of different directions, and who we thought we were will probably not be where we end up.

It was the last game of the year. Once again, we were in the stands of Central Catholic High School. The crowds were some of the largest we’d ever seen during the season. Wow! Loving the conversation and when i get a moment I'll respond properly, but let me just say that I wish I'd have named this chapter "Sins of the Fathers" because basically, each of the boys is following the example of the parents. Jake may be acting like his father, I even had him in his father's old shirt, but what he really wants is a nice healthy relationship like Mr. Reilly or Mr. Rossi. Danny is repeating the mistakes of Jake's dad, finding fulfillment in yet another girl. Ryan is like his mother, willing to overlook Jake's faults just to keep the peace. And the beat goes on.

Yes indeed, sex does tend to bring out all the emotions at once. Danny never would have confessed his love for Jake wirhout his emotions being all heightened by passion. Jake is just all over the place trying to sort everything out that's going on in his head. While Danny might have confessed his love for his girlfriends, maybe this is the first time he really feels it?

Making characters miserable is my specialty! I think Jake feels horribly guilty, but also horny, and that one tends to win at that age.

The running scene was one of my favorite little bits of writing for Brett, right up there with the scene of Brett "practicing" on a banana in the middle of the cafeteria in front of Emily and Billy back in the day. He's still a mischievous little devil at heart.
