  1. I would also recommend touring the Author Resource page. https://www.gayauthors.org/author-resources.html
  2. Well... blind faith is something that is a problem worldwide. Christians persecute gays, Muslims blow people up. All for not believing what they believe, all the while saying they support their God, who teaches love. Scarey, isn't it?
  3. I reply to everyone. If they mention that they are a minor, I make sure that I don't say anything inappropriate. Some of them would be trolls and some are the real thing. Remember how confusing that age is. If they ask questions about such things, direct them someplace for gay youth. We have set up a lot of links here: https://www.gayauthors.org/gayteens.html There are also a lot of other sites. I'd be really careful to remember that the real boys that are reading these stories are in the age group that has the highest suicide rate... They might be reading your story and reaching out thinking that being gay is okay, only to be rebuffed by you. So long as you don't try to meet these people or send them porn or links to porn, then you're fine. If you end up directing them to sites that specialize in helping gay youth, you might save a life.
  4. I'm thinking some of the art students at my university have a bit too much time on their hands. Oddly, I found this picture going around the internet. My freshman dormroom window is in this picture. heh.
  5. Like this post is a parody. (I think )
  6. I think that's a parody site guys...
  7. Oh there is also the difference between book publishing and net writing too. In books, you would indent your paragraph like this. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. * * * On the Net, it is much easier to read if you don't indent (there is no html code for that anyway) and if you separate each paragraph by a blank line. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The next paragraph is here. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph. The words would continue until you had a paragraph.
  8. Well, a few rules of thumb: 1) Each character speaking should have their own line. Never mix characters voices in the same paragraph. 2) Punctuation is important in how you want to say something. This says one thing: "Yahoo! I'm rich," he announced. This says something else: "Yahoo! I'm rich." He announced. The second one doesn't make much sense in natural flow. It is too short and choppy. It also sends English majors into histerics. 3) Try reading what you write outloud. Pause for a moment a commas and pause longer at periods. If it sounds choppy when you read it aloud, then it is going to sound akward when people are reading it.
  9. I have updated the Top Site List to the new beta version. There are a few changes. Currently, in order to use the Top Site List, you need to log in using your email address and password (like the story archive), and not your username. Sometime this weekend, I'll likely change the board to match so that one login can be used for everything. (assuming I can squash the bugs) Also, since the Top Site List is Beta software, some things aren't working right now (The Directory, for example). As soon as it is working, it should be pretty cool indeed. Myr
  10. I do know of two straight men that are writing gay stories. They are exploring in literature what they don't wish to explore in person. Also, if you look at published work, most of the gay stories are published by straight women... Mercedes Lackey, Tanya Huff, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Lynn Flewelling... well, you get the idea. So, just because you have writing here, doesn't necessarily mean you're gay.
  11. A reply to a few different things: 1) GunRunner, I've updated your profile. I get so busy that I have to be reminded to change a profile from "Member" to "Author" when someone signs up. 2) I have added some more options to the whole sexuality question. Consider it a demographical survey. Everyone has the option to put "Not Telling", which, of course, is a person's option. It doesn't necessarily mean what Aleric implies. As a personal note, I'm no activist. In fact, *gasp*, I would fall into the Log Cabin Republicans... I'm out to a few people, which does include my parents. But without me telling someone, nobody would know. I've put this option on the board to satisfy scientific curosity, not to be out and proud, or insult people that aren't. Myr
  12. Welcome to the site. By all means, we like to encourage writing here
  13. Welcome to our newest Author, DomLuka! :king: Welcome to everyone else as well.
  14. Well said. I'd like to note that I reply to everyone that sends stuff to me. If for some reason you didn't get a reply, that means I didn't receive what you sent.
  15. It is probably more of a "I didn't update my profile" situation. I think it defualts to "Not Telling" Myr
  16. A little use of a patch here and a patch there, and you have suddenly naked Sims wandering around. And Doing other things too.
  17. Aleric, For myself, I usually aim at about 5000 words per chapter. But it really boils down to what feels right when you're reading it. Myr

Works fine here. P.S. I hate John Kerry. And Senator Barbara "The c**t" Boxer, Demoncrat, CA. Dianne Feinstein, D-CA is a much better person.
  19. http://www.glbtfantasy.com/ Wowser... check it out. Very cool. I'll have to do some trolling over there for more books to get.
  20. http://www.glbtfantasy.com/index.html?sect...&sub=flewelling a very good author of gay fiction...
  21. I put a more clear registration link on the main archive page. I've changed the code for the control panel registration link, but I'm not sure if that is working quite right yet. no time to debug before work.
  22. Hey everyone! Welcome to Gay Authors!
  23. ah... but the vast majority don't actually post... and many don't come back.
  24. nothing?
  25. What would you like to see to make Gay Authors better? Please post your comments. I'd like sort of an open forum brainstorming session here. Please post some thoughts.
