Wow. Thank You! First I am late to discover this well-written, thoughtful and informative story. I only 'found' this after seeing the re-release of 'The Boot - Three Years On' , and I was determined to find and read the original preceding stories. Then I read the comments and was touched, surprised, and infuriated by what I read, especially from 'droughtquake', who's comments are hard-hitting, and accurate, but also scary. Why scary? Because they were written pre-pandemic which has created, and is creating a horrible situation (a HUGE understatement) for OUR homeless, thrown away kids, and the STARVING, not 'Food Insecure' as media and politicians like to label it so it's more 'palatable'. Another good happy / sad chapter. Luigi's idea to have Pete and Jimmy convert the top two floors in to a 'home' big enough for their expanding family is a blessing. My Italian friends while slow to embrace LGBTQ2 culture, generally open their for children. As for adoptions, thanks to archaic homophobic courts, there will have to be 4. Pete can adopt Alex (a little easier since he's already family) and even when Pete and Jimmy marry, Jimmy will also have to adopt each boy. . Hopefully the judge for Alex's adoption will take Paul to the cleaners (financially). 'Parents' anywhere who physically and/or emotionally abuse, abandon, harm (or worse ) should, as part of court decisions, be forcibly sterilized. Then all that awaits them is guaranteed 'seat' in Hell.(additional comment 'censored' by 'some' person who's upset).

BAD DJ's have gotten wacked for spinning badly, just sayin. Speaking of, which Reboot does this make? Version 4.0? Officer Special K, sounds like a handful. He'll fit in well with the new BHO (Boo Hoo Office) or whatever the new name is. Sorry for being so critique full (versus critical), but that's both editor and writer in me. Do we get extra chapters (2 or 3) to get us through the Labor Day wknd? Stay Safe, Distanced, and #WearTheDamnMask because despite CDC pronouncements there is NOT going to be a viable, safe, effective and properly tested Covid-19 vaccine for at least another 140 days at the earliest. (sorry, NDA prohibits more info. Avoid ANY 'Sino' or Russian serums / vaccines as their testing results questionable at best). DO however get a Flu Shot ASAP to start boosting your immune system. T

OMG, we definitely need (and would appreciate) if the next chapter starts off with a guide to Pete's family. His parents are bigots at the very least. His older brother Paul is a homophobe or worse (been there, got that), who apparently mentally abuses his own son Alex, who might just join Pete, Jimmy, Bobby and Butch. What vacation from hell has Pete brought his family in to? . Stay tuned? Oh yeah, because powder-keg just waiting for a spark.

Jack needs a hose or a bucket of ice water to chill down Jimmy & Jeff (aka Horny pups). At least in AquariusGuy's story about TJ - https://gayauthors.org/story/aquariusguy/tjs-story/ Jack gets a new bf.

Glad Mary visited Butch in his dreams to let him know she's 'at rest' now that justice was served. Family's bonded well and time to meet Pete's family and hopefully Bobby and Butch's other grandparents. Sad the first night of road trip marred by hotel bigot (just zealous?) desk clerk. Hope it's not an omen of things to come.

My feelings are all over the map. I'm sad for Butch loosing his mother Mary, but glad he was able to spend time with her despite her failing health and she was able to respond by squeezing his hand. I'm glad that his new brother Bobby will help him deal both with his loss, and gaining Pete as his new Dad via adoption. I'm glad Pete and Jimmy are forming a new family. And that Pete has nailed the bastard landlord and his crooked cop friend. A few+ more chapters? Will take whatever treats you offer for as long as you can. Your story IS Covid relief. Thank You doesn't say enough.

How can anyone not have tears in their eyes when they read this chapter? What will be worse, is if Butch wakes to be told, "Your Mom passed peacefully in her sleep" and he blames himself for not being with her . But if he's lucky she'll appear to him in a 'dream', saying she's ok. Been through 'The Watch' with my late Mom when she passed away. Hopefully you have a few 'feel better' chapters for us, so we end on a high note, please.

Twilight Zone? Outer Limits? Why not X Files? Hopefully somebody's been watching reruns, or they're older they seem. Maybe ask 'Little Man' Tristan and Dame their secrets to turning older or younger at will. Not a big fan of flashbacks, flash forwards, shifting etc (unless it's built in to a story from the start, or at least alluded to). But I guess I have to hang around to see how you fix / explain all this. T

I thought maybe Butch would be a son for Fred, but he's still waiting for 'Mr. Right' to come along. It looks like Bobby won't be the only one with a 'Mother' angel watching over her child.

So far this is well written, fast paced, and intriguing. The stranger can't be police, otherwise he'd have said so. Or is it 'Zeke' you mentioned in the teaser? Poor Tyler having to see all the carnage of his family's murder. Something he never be able to 'unsee'. I can hardly wait. Can you give us an idea of how often you hope to post next chapters. Tony

I'm okay as far as lists for now. Very familiar with Covenant House. In Canada there's KidsHelpPhone that runs a 24/7/365 toll free number (that's been run off their feet due to pandemic, school closures etc), and Home Depot lets people "Buy a Toque* to Raise a Roof" (*knit 'watch' cap) . Thank you for this 'feel good' chapter to start the week. A warm safe place, (when so much else around the world is skidding sideways). And yet, a little light is flashing red. Please don't have Bobby and Pete's new lives go off track. T

Xander seems to be fitting in and adjusting to his new family and they to him. Hopefully when Dr Danny gets the test results back for Xander, all will be okay. The magic that Josh originally instilled in The Castaway Hotel continues to make it a special place. Thanks Bill for another wonderful chapter in yet another 'Book'. May you continue to bring us believable characters and good stories for years to come. In the meantime, Stay Safe, Socially Distanced (one 6-foot rope ladder OR the twins putting their arms out and 'helicoptering' without touching each other), and don't forget, #WearTheMask. Tony

Thank you for another very good chapter, letting us see how Bobby and Pete are starting to fit together. I know you (and other GA writers) are only 'compensated' by the comments you receive. I hope everyone who reads your stories would at least give you a thumbs up, or better yet a comment no matter how brief. One suggestion if I may. This story has me thinking about all the 'Bobby's' out on the street, especially during Covid-19, Fall coming, kids missing meals or worse. IF readers can find time to help out even a little, in any way, every little bit can help a 'Bobby' somewhere. (hate I have to add this, but no 'flames', please).

A sad and all too frequent story. And it's worse if 'parents' are right-wing believers in conversion therapy. Is this tale part of a series of 'short stories' (like Billy), or longer? Either way, I'll gladly read it. Tony

Good start with 'Billy', and there's no harm in someone holding out an 'open hand & open heart' to someone who may be in need. Lord knows we could all use someone like Mark these days. As for your comment, "I'm an old man, in years not in mind", I'm remember my late Mom saying (usually on her birthday), "You're only as old as you feel". I also recall a version of that line used in an episode of Mom's favourite TV show 'Golden Girls'. One lady was complaining about getting older and another (the 'cougar' Blanche) used that line, but added "That's why I sit next to the pool boy... so I can 'feel' young." Most importantly, (based on my family experience) people recovering from lengthy Coma often have a recollection of what was going on in their brains, (what they thought was reality), that is different from the 'real' world. My cousin was frustrated being told by (well intentioned doctors) to forget her "coma life memories" and just get caught up. Thankfully, she wrote down her 'Coma life'. What I'm getting at is, if TJ writes down or otherwise recalls what he thought transpired, it MAY shed some light on his 'real' life. Waiting (with baited breathe) for TJ-3.
