    Chapter 17

Thank you @drsawzall. Right now in Johannesburg, the weather is bitterly cold. So your comment really warms my heart. It's comments like this that help me to realise that all the time and effort is not wasted and is being appreciated.

    Chapter 17

I will admit I often second guessed myself on the amount of detail to put in. Always worried that it would be too much. but after reading comments from you guys and girls, I decided that I would let you be the judges. If it got tedious, I'm sure you will be the first ones to tell me.

    Chapter 17

Thanks Chris. You're another one who is always quick off mark as far as reading a new chapter goes. The next chapter will largely deal with their visit.

    Chapter 17

I always believe good memories never fade, only the bad ones

    Chapter 17

Gee Alex, you are fast. Although I don't know why the chapter was published without me clicking the publish button, so you got to read the unedited version. Here is the edited version.
  6. The remainder of the day was spent unpacking and relaxing. Cameron and Elizabeth were keen to go for a swim after lunch, but the howling southeaster made it really unpleasant out, even with the summer sun beating down and unfortunately the pool deck was directly exposed to the ferocity of the wind. Instead, Andrew persuaded them to make use of the jacuzzi on the patio, but keeping the temperature dialed down to keep the water comfortably cool. David and Janice had stayed for lunch, but had left

    Chapter 15

It was really hard to write Beth and Nicky out, but for the story to progress the way I have planned, it had to be done. I, unfortunately, have had a fair amount of loss in my life, notably losing my mom when I was seventeen. My father had not been part o my my and my siblings lives (two younger sisters and a brother), and at seventeen suddenly found myself effectively the head of the household. On the positive side, we had a fantastic support base. What I guess I'm trying to say, is that a great deal of the previous chapters were written from experience, and I guess that comes across to you readers.

    Chapter 13

@Mark M. Never in my wildest dreams did I envision this sort of reaction to anything I might write. I'm stunned and humbled by everyones reactions and comments. So thank you for all your comments. They are much appreciated. And that applies to all my dedicated readers of NWA and NWAWO.

    Chapter 3

Hi @Mark M. Thank you once again for commenting. Yeah, it's something that has always been in the back of my mind while writing - the different meanings that certain words might have in different parts of the world. I will admit that I have more or less taken for granted that the majority of readers would be from the USA, rightly or wrongly. And so I have tried to use words that you Americans would be more familiar with, ( using the word 'trunk' where here in SA we would say 'boot' or 'traffic light' instead of our 'robot'. So I think 'snug' would fall into that category. Here a 'snug' is a small, cosy room that the family, and more specifically the children, can use instead of the living room - I guess a sort of family room, but smaller. We have one at home that we use a lot during winter, when Johannesburg gets quite nippy at night. It has nice comfy couches and a big TV, it gets the afternoon sun and it's easier to keep warm with a heater at night. Hope that explains it.
  10. To all my loyal readers. I am sorry that the next chapter is so delayed (again). The evenings and weekends are the only time I am getting to write at the moment, but I am so busy the the office that when I get home, all I want to do is chill. When I do sit down to write, I wake up a couple of hours later with crick in my neck. My humblest apologies.

    Chapter 1

Thank you for your comment @markM. I hope you enjoy Book 2 as much as you enjoyed Book 1. Cam and Elizabeth are definitely coming into their own personalities. As the story progresses you will see how both develop personality traits from both their dads.

    Chapter 16

OOOPS! Well spotted @mansexlover, It got omitted in the final edit. I wanted to move it somewhere else in the narrative and somehow forgot to add it back in after copying it. They are staying at The Cameron for the duration as they are also on vacation. One of the perks of their employment. I will refer to it in the next chapter

    Chapter 16

The meaning of 'homely' that you quoted has, for me, always been so terribly British (puting on a posh English accent), very Charlotte Bronte-esque. Hear in South Africa, it is almost exclusively used to describe warmth, comfort and ....... homeliness.

    Chapter 16

Thank you @drsawzall. Yeah, I felt a lighter chapter was needed by every one, including myself.

    Chapter 16

In my minds eye, the children have always been close. The twins have been interacting with Jamie and Fiona from birth, albeit from a distance since they moved to Scotland. Cameron and Elizabeth are just being big brother and sister.

    Chapter 16

The twins are already displaying many of their dads personality traits. Practical, thoughtful, giving. They are just paying forward the manner in which they have been raised.
  17. On arrival at the FBO, the boys were rather surprised at just how nondescript it looked. It consisted of a utilitarian, flat-roofed, single storey building, painted pale grey with darker grey detailing and white framed windows. A sloped, wheelchair friendly walkway with black railings and flower boxes filled with bright pansies, allowed easy access into the facility. The exterior was very different to the impressive buildings they had passed through on their Disneyland trip, and even the FBO in
  18. At last we find out about the "Mexican incident" - only about 48 chapters after it was first mentioned!! Talk about cliffhangers! That has to count as one of the loooooooooooongest of all time!
  19. THIS!!!! is exactly what I imagined was going to happen!

    Chapter 15

Here is the music that was played at the funeral. My thanks to @Anton_Clochefor enlightening me on how to do it.

Thanks Anton. Now please tell me how you did that (Remember. .... technologically challenged! !)

    Chapter 15

Thank you @Daveh. Blushing at all the compliments.

    Chapter 15

@drsawzall, Thank you for you gracious comment and for the gorgeous photograph. I found one with a red acer and a view of the loch and for the life of me I cannot find it now. I also really wanted to upload the bagpipe music mentioned in the chapter by my technologically challenged brain couldn't figure out how to do it.

    Chapter 15

Thank you all for the encouraging and heart-warming comments. The previous few chapters were indeed difficult to write and i will admit to a small element of avoiding them (and somehow hoping the elves would take pity on my and write them for me - they would probably have done a better job). Thank you all for taking the time to read and comment.
  25. As per the arrangements that Jamie had outlined to them with regard to the funeral, at dawn on Thursday morning, Beth and Nicky's bodies were brought to Achnacarry. The one blessing was that dawn was in fact just after 8am. The boys had left the children sleeping under the watchful eye of one of the maids, and were downstairs when the two hearses pulled up at the main entrance to the castle, where both the front doors stood wide open. The weather echoed the solemn occasion. Dark, grey, moody a
